- This sermon by Pastor Francis Chan exposes so much of the problem in the body of Christ with the topic of suffering. Scripture clearly tells us that to be a Christian in this world means to suffer. Francis Chan preaches about the need for Christians to embrace and teach suffering, instead of running away from it and ignoring it. This message preaches against loving yourself so much that you try to avoid things Jesus promised.

I died when I was 3 . God told me among other things I’d suffer. I’ve realized it’s part of the process . Yes we need to speak this TRUTH instead of focus on the blessings as miracles. Suffering IS a a blessing !!!!!

such platitutes are heartless. suffering hurts we should empathize , help and be compassionate, and suffer with others. pat answers are arrogant and unhelpful. maturity is caring for people who are suffering and reaching out for support when you are suffering as jesus did.
Did you hear what Francis said? Conquering sin involves suffering. So youre going be compassionate about sin?

I must confess that I struggled with this until I met suffering at a level I never imagined. Growing up an American Christian, I had the subtle belief that suffering was for other people. Sure, you might be ridiculed for wearing a Christian Tshirt, but my warped thinking was that only real bad people suffered or saints back in NT days.....and then in the span of two years, I was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis, Primary Hypertension, and more...I lost the ability to work, to even being able to walk independently, and more....and I had to wrestle with the idea that maybe the Bible didn't say what I thought about suffering that I assumed it did...and even now as I deal with chronic pain that doesn't stop....I'm realizing that I could keep trying to blame this or that...or I could develop a faith that doesn't stop
I think I’m at the phase in my Christian life where I need to watch this 5 times to really get this mentality into my heart.
I trust that it will be worth it
We genuinely do NOT know how to suffer as a church in America. That’s why the second so many of us hit hard times, we leave the faith.
this sermon TOTALLY resonates with today’s generation. Really hope that every one that watches this sermon is convicted of breaking free from the chains of their sins of today’s secular world!

Not to steal anyone’s thunder…… but for 3 yrs.. ever since the Holy Spirit came upon me., REALLY came into me, compelled to follow Jesus 1000%.. I’ve suffered non stop. The very worst of the worst in my 60 yrs on this earth. No idea.. how Francis , who is my one and only go to, is saying this. Just so so overwhelmed.

You are entirely correct. This is a lesson that all Christians eventually must experience, I think. So I guess we have to learn how to “count it all joy.”

What touched me even more than the message from Francis, which is completely true by the way, is to see some devoted young guy following the Messiah no matter what it costs and taking the bible seriously, making no compromise. You are right, a lot of people do not want the truth. A lot of people want to feel good, they want to be blessed and prosperous but they do not want the cross and no cutting of the sword. Continue to go tge straight path and do not let discourage yourself! Be blessed.

NKJV says: Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
The flesh is the old man, and yes our flesh is going to come across so many attacks and we will keep on suffering when our focus is set on the flesh... If our mindset is set on the Spirit within us and remembering that the attacks of the flesh is what Jesus went through... the hurt and pain will cease because of the understanding you have gained. I am a witness to this. To God be the glory!
Sufferings such as enemies, threats, unfairness, persecution, death, imprisonment, hatred, enmity in family, people taking advantage etc…. This happens regardless of what our minds are set on but they happen ESPECIALLY when they’re set on the things of the Spirit…
@@LetsGrowinChrist i agree. It feels unbearable when my mind was set on the flesh... but bearable when set on the Spirit because God is carrying the burden with us
Amen! We need Him… this life is hard and tribulations aren’t for the wicked only… but Jesus promised we could make it by abiding in Him and one day we will receive an eternal reward! 😀🙌🏻

We are continuing the suffering of Christ daily, through our own lives of constant struggle with the flesh, the world and the devil.
And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me. (Luke 9:23)
This was a killer message literally 😂. This like the seed thrown on rock but then his sermon comes and you never go to church again lol I struggle with this too myself in all seriousness. It says it in the serenity prayer. "So we can be REASONABLY happy in this life and supremely happy forever in the next life with you lord"... its a hard pill to swallow but its for the greater good.
We need this message… probably more than ever since Christ came tbh… we must embrace this word

I know and feel exactly what ypir saying...you want to see results...faith will get the results you are looking for and in 1 Peter 1 he talks about tribulation building your faith so hang in there and stand on the word brother and you will see great things on earth and in heaven

I've been falsely accused over and over for the past two years. I've lost almost everything because of an unequally yoked spouse.. I've been through so much hell in the past two years but I've seen God carry me through different situations. Being in front of a judge, and facing accusations that you've never done will teach you so many things. This hell has brought out a different me.. it's built me up.. But I just ask that y'all pray for my next court situation..Please pray for me and my situation. God will know who you're praying for.

Where is his list of suffering. Mine started at 3 being molested by my parents brothers died 3 months apart one committed suicide. I have lots more to share. I thought we were to have an abundant life?

Our life as believers is to glorify God. It is all about the kingdom & salvation. Those who introduced me to church made me believe it was no more suffering & pain. nothing but blessings. I was disappointed for years until I read the Bible for myself & I learned abundant life is the life of growing The kingdom of God through spreading the good news, which we call the gospel., Loving God with all my heart, mind and soul, and loving others, as I love myself. Abundant life is when God ask Solomon what can I give you, and Solomon said, give me wisdom to lead these people. God said Ill give you wisdom and more than you asked for. as I serve Christ he takes care of me. It may be something a healing or it may be something someone stepping in to pay a bill. Abundant life is not about things or rose gardens. it’s about the kingdom of God and while you are doing the work of the kingdom God will take care of your needs. My abundant life is every month my bills are paid and a bit goes into savings… I’m not in bed waiting for someone to change my diaper… all 5 senses are on full blast… all my kids are drug/jail free… I have hope after I die… etc. However, my best abundant life is each day I walk out and pray for someone and tell them the good news of salvation.

The Lord only wants you to know that you are a sinner, and in need of a savior. The Lord wants to save you, and then walk with you in this ungodly world so that you can bear fruit and be a witness of the Light. Jesus wants to fellowship with you here and right now he doesn't want you to be deceived by these false prophets. JESUS wants to help you overcome all the wickedness that comes against you in your thoughts, and your ungodly desires. Jesus wants you to know the truth about him so that you can be set free and forgiven of your sins. Jesus doesn't want you worshipping a false teaching of him. JESUS wants you to know him according to the scriptures. The bible says you will have tribulations and trials, and problems of the day, and they will hate you because they hated him first. The bible says don't let wicked people seduce you, or lead you away from him. The devil will go out to decieve the nations, hold fast to what Jesus done for you according to the scriptures. The devil wants you to use your Bible to look up verses about prosperity, but God wants you to look up the verses that teach about him and about being saved (born from above) born again.JESUS wants you to be secure in what He has done for you. Don't ignore the truth for gain that will wither away.

The lifestyle for the Christian is never painted as one of suffering on a constant basis.
The reason people suffer is because they’re ignorant of the truth of who they are in Christ, or the reject it.
My life is full of joy, peace, love, laughter, hope. It’s because I put off the old and put on the new. No suffering whatsoever took place. Only healing.
It is a flat out lie that conquering sin requires suffering. It is the goodness of God that leads a man to repentance: Romans 2:4.
Much of this teaching is nothing but word salad and strengthens no one. Read Ephesians. This is your life. Set you affection on the light, power, strength above. You’ll be at peace and you won’t suffer.

@@LetsGrowinChrist a deep and sorrowful verse depicting suffering even amongst God's elected prophets, but kept in the Bible because God knows the suffering and hearts of man. I believe many in deep suffering can relate to and draw comfort from knowing the prophets have gone through the same doubt and troubling thoughts we have. Amen indeed brother
