$4.8 BILLION FOR 22 MILE OF FOOTPATH ON AN UNUSED RAIL LINE ?! What kind of CORRUPTION SCAM IS THAT ?! who did you pay to do that path ? A bike footpath is cheap to build and should not cost more than $1 milllion per kilometre ($1.5 million per mile ). And this project costs per mile of 'Footpath' a $218 million dollar ! $218 MILLION , PER MILE ! To give a comparison in : In the Netherlands they build a 'bicycle highway' between two cities Arnhem and Nijmegen, with all sort of arty light elements etc.. 17km (10 miles) long ..... for €17 million. (€ 1.7 million per mile ). And this was not on a freely available unused railway track ready to build on , but on meadow/marshy soil that had to be acquired and prepared for construction .. This Beltway funding is sheer corruption ! No way you can justify $218 mln per mile for a footpath. Another comparison if you would expand the 22 mile to 500 mile of a CaHSR , the costs would be over $100 billion for the 500 mile. And that is more than the controversial California HSR. And this is for a foot path !
Just started watching your videos. I've learned so much about Atlanta and surrounding areas. Wish you were making videos before I move to Atlanta in early 2000. Outstanding!
Hey Tom! Thanks for watching! Yes, I too wish there were n’hood RUclips tours back when I moved to Atlanta in 2011…it just wasn’t a thing then (I think)? I’m hopeful that my videos will be a helpful resource to others and ppl will know that I’m here if they need help finding a place to call home! :)
Yes, it's super popular. The Eastside is more developed than the Westside at this point (I just did a video about 2-3 weeks ago about the Southside/Westside Beltline). I enjoy running on it. During super nice weekends, the Beltline will be packed!
I'm a big fan of your videos! My wife, bulldog, and I are moving to the area near Ladybird Grove, sight unseen. This video, along with your O4W tour, has gotten us quite excited about our new neighborhood. Keep it up, Molly!
Ah, that is so great to hear. Glad my videos are helping you out & getting you excited for your move. I've certainly helped out a few people buy sight unseen and I gotta say, I think I'm a pretty good match maker on locations. ;) You have picked a good spot to land here in Atlanta! I wish there were RUclips n'hood tours back when I was moving to Atlanta. Thanks for being a fan. haha!
Hey Douglas, thank you! I’m glad to hear it was helpful. (It was a fun video to make too). I just dropped a video for the west and south side of the Beltline if you’re interested in that - it’s def not as developed as the Eastside.
Thank you for taking us along on the bike ride it was full of insightful adventure… Learning more and more about the city thanks to you and the channel…Love all that you create for us.. Be safe!!
Yes! Enjoy! They are currently working on the path through Piedmont Park so skip that section. Have a great ride! I have a video on the Westside Beltline too - less commercialized as the Eastside Beltline but I'm sure down the road that will change.
Ive been a sub for a few weeks, but thanks for another detailed tour of the Beltline, use to live in Atlanta before they built it, I wished it was there before I left but, oh well im looking to buy again soon and Atlanta and you will be on the contact list
I feel you - I lived in Houston and there was an unpaved running path I ran on for years...about 2 years after I moved from Houston, they paved it! haha Thanks again for following along and I'd love to help you with buying here in Atlanta. Contact me when you are ready! :)
Thanks for watching! And since I recorded this video - more of the trail has been done. For example, right at the beginning of the video - much of that gravel section is done. And they are currently working on the section through Piedmont Park. It's certainly a popular trail.
Thanks so much for watching another video! I really had fun shooting this one and stay tuned - I do another one for the Southside/Westside portion of the Beltline. I need to invest in an E-bike. haha
The violin lady reminded me of the Buckhead Bird Man. Back in the 70's there was an old guy who would ride a bike around Buckhead and every few seconds he would flap his arms like a bird. Everybody knew about him. I never could tell if he was just exercising or if he was crazy.
Thank you Brantley. I know I should have been wearing my helmet (eek!). I was on and off the bike a ton so I wasn't peddling super hard or anything (I know that's no excuse though!)
It’s def gotten pricey. The areas around the SW Beltline trail are more affordable - less commercial stuff built up (for now) but that could be an option.

Hey there - interesting about the cost of the Beltline. Thanks for sharing. Despite the cost, it's very popular and has helped connect neighborhoods together that once were not very inclusive to the city. I do love to run on it.
The Beltline runs 26 miles around the city and the land has to be purchased. The beltline runs in super rich neighborhoods and not so rich but the land cost the city a arm and leg. They also had to buy property from home owners taking part of their land. The beltline is not just a cheap trail around the heart of the city and it’s already bringing in billions of dollars to city and investors. Every inch of the beltline will have million+ condos super large office buildings that are going up so fast you can’t keep up. The condos are sold soon as they announce it. That little money the city is spending is nothing compared to the new investments. My family owned land for decades along the beltline and we sold it just last year for millions. 15 years ago we could not give that land away. Now I am moving to the beltline.
Hmm - ok. I certainly complain about filming in 90 degree heat. I do try to give opinions and explain how Atlanta was vs is now to help those that don't know Atlanta and are looking for advice. I can't please everyone though.

Another really good detailed video! I now see why people want to move close to the Beltline.

I was looking for a good video showing what it is like to experience the eastside of the beltline and yours is just amazing... Congrats!!

Thanks for watching again! This one was a fun one to do and the weather was great...I did it right before it turned super hot & miserable. :)
Great video, All about living in Atlanta 👍👍😁
Hey!! Thanks for watching!! Appreciate the kind words.
Great video! Just moved to Georgia, and I love cycling. Plan on doing this route tomorrow

My favorite video so far! Thank you for all your awesomeness
Haha, thank you. I had fun making this one.
Thank you for this video. Hopefully one day I can move to Atlanta and get to live near this trail.

Can’t believe every major city in the US doesn’t have something similar to the Beltline
That would be great if it did! I suppose every city is structured a little differently and not all can make it work.
Great Job, again. You really make this area seem exciting (which it is) keep up the good work, you can clearly see how much work you put into it!
Thanks so much for watching another video! I really had fun shooting this one and stay tuned - I do another one for the Southside/Westside portion of the Beltline. I need to invest in an E-bike. haha

Now there is a guy that rollerskates and sings down the Beltline. I love him!
Loved the video. Thanks.
Thanks for the nice comment and thx for watching!
Very nice!!💯
Thanks for watching Audrey!
Loved the video, super well done, but don't forget your helmet!
Thank you Brantley. I know I should have been wearing my helmet (eek!). I was on and off the bike a ton so I wasn't peddling super hard or anything (I know that's no excuse though!)
I can't believe you walked away from your bicycle UNLOCKED at the dog park
Ha! Nobody would want my bike. It is nothing fancy.
Yay , a parking deck to get killed in
“Before old 4th line turned around” or aka… white gentrification
They need to stop expanding that shity oath and expand marta. Sick of this

You complain a bit much for our liking, as we are actually from Atlanta 🤫
