It is so uplifting watching you two lovely youngsters (to a 70+ year old you are still babes!) making your boat into a lovely home. Happy (most of the time) to roll up your sleeves and work hard to achieve your goals without expecting others to do it for you is commendable. 👏👏 It also warned my heart to see a father passing on his knowledge to a son who happily listens. Your parents must be so proud of you both!! Looking forward to seeing you enjoying the fruits of your labours in your next vlog as you go for a cruise. Well done Danni and Joe - you have earned a 🍻 and a ⭐⭐ each. Take care - and enjoy! xx
Thank you so much Jill that’s so lovely to hear. We’re proud of ourselves when we look back at where we started, so much more we can learn too and want to continue with various different projects!
Your old girl has come up like a treat with the tender loving care you have both given her filling in gaps and then giving her a fresh life with the new coats of paint. She looks really fresh and lovely after all your hard work. Stay warm and well. Best, David
Can I adopt you two (sorry if that sounds creepy), but you are brilliant. It makes me tired just watching you, your enthusiasm is infectious. Can you bottle it, you would make a fortune. Love your videos and looking forward to the next. Do you have a "buy me a coffee" link?
Total respect to you both, you are so hard working and diligent. You are a real credit to your families and a truly lovely couple to boot. Oh and the boat looks fantastic! 😊 I am looking forward to watching all of your content👍
So much respect to you guys. I feel your pain. I'm 75 now, live near the sea in Cornwall and my water time is now on a kayak. About 30 years ago, in the Midlands, I bought a small 25 foot narrowboat and did what you did... on my own. Difference was I had a house to go back to each evening 😉 Love your vids and your portrayal of showing stuff as it is. Keep up the good work.
Fantastic job painting. But one thing I would have done differently is when you use the roller tray to hold your paint wrap it in cling film. Then pour your paint in. When you have finished you can remove the cling film and you trays will be nice and clean and won’t need washing out
The worst thing is that we already had plenty of the low tack blue tape just didn’t think to use it as wasn’t a fine line to mask or anything, lesson learnt though!
You two are really hard workers, and in the midst of this Danni had to go to work 😮. Love the dark green. Doris making impromptu visits and making herself comfortable on the sofa and curling up in bed was adorable. Great job you two! Hope you are able to have a nice cruise. Thank you for sharing. 🙏😊🤗 Kathy
Awwww well done both boat looking lovely u both still not well but you carried on even in the bitter cold so proud of you both sending hugs tc of your selves 🤗🤗🤗🤗
You kids are just extraordinary! Quite amazing! Thank you very much for taking the time to include us on your renovation. Its a fantastic resource that will stand the test of time.
Having lost our family business due to Covid, we decided to live on our boat. We have painted three boats since but NO MORE. We understand what you went through. Well done; enjoy life on the “cut”. Gra and Indi
Best thing that could have happened to us. Now writing a novel and self help business book: (“ 51 Mistakes I Have Made In Business; so you don’t have to”). Starting an art career ( 2 fingers to the art teacher who said I was useless 45 years ago, because I ain’t). Plus enjoying the gift that is our canal network, just don’t tell everyone
I really enjoyed this video and am so impressed by the high standard of your work. White masking tape is a bit of an unknown quantity and some of it is far too sticky so you shouldn’t worry about paint adhesion. I found that Frog tape is pretty reliable and they do a low tack version for delicate surfaces.
If you drive a nail through the valley in the paint can edge it will allow the paint to drain back into the can. When you put the lid on, it will reseal the can and keep the paint from drying out.
When I open a paint can, I take straight screw drive and hammer and hammer the screwdriver in the ring well of the can so the paint drip back in the can. But love all the hard work everyone done on your beautiful boat. From: Valparaiso, Indiana
OMG guys I just found you on utube, well the episode before this one.... and glad you watched Myles and Marina on Cruising Alba. I watch them also. You guys are doing a great job well done, and now I have to go back to the start to watch your Narrowboat Journey from the beginning.. But the last two here have been awesome.....Thank you. and I absolutely love the Green...
What a great job you guys have done on your boat both inside and out…. You must be totally knackered after the mammouth paint job….. but a ‘proper job’ you’ve done. You should be proud of yourselves. Love watching you guys 🙏👍
Well done both of you, you have done a great job, and as for you saying the paint is till soft, it can take upto a couple of weeks for the paint to properly cure :)
@@ItsOhJoe They say every day is a school day, I have been inn the building, boat and engineering trades for almost 30 years, and I still come across something new, or a new way of doing something every week, if not day, the trick is to remember it for next time lol
just a tip for removing masking tape without tearing off the paint beneath. use a hairdryer to warm the tape up as youre pulling it off, the heat softens the adhesive and helps a lot
Awesome job guys you should be very proud and £10k saved ‘kerr-flippin-ching’. The boat looks magnificent, love the colour. The effort required was enormous but you didn’t give in and remained cheerful throughout because you have the big picture. As a serial renovator of everything from houses to machines I know what it takes. Go enjoy your cruise and make the most of your downtime.
I would suggest checking with the manufacturer of the rust convertor, that it's OK to apply primer over it, without keying the surface, and before it's fully cured.
It does advise 24 hours before re coating & we unfortunately only left around 12 or so - will see how it holds up but it's likely we'll re do parts next summer. Good learning curve if anything!
@@ItsOhJoe I have found its pretty much impossible to get paint to stick to rust convertors, as when fully cured they are glossy and need to be keyed, and when not fully cured, solvent venting will prevent proper adhesion. From your perspective, if the paint starts to come off, there might well be a need to go back to bare metal again. Hopefully it will not cause any issues, and there will be no need to do it again.
The boat is looking really good. You put a heck of a lot of work into it, well done. I did have to smile watching you open the can of filler at the start, took ages 😊
Hi Danni, Jo, You guys have done an amazing job. The boat looks fantastic after all your hard work painting it. Thank you for recording your skills which have been a delight to watch. Enjoy your cruise. Have a great week. Take care.
Looking great, we spent a glorious week on the Kennett and Avon in September, from foxhangers we eventually dropped onto the river but didn't quite make it to Bristol as we had to get back .Must have passed you at some point Fantastic scenery and we saw quite a few kingfishers and herons. Would love to comeback one day . Keep the videos coming. Regards Tim, Blackburn, Lancashire.
Ahh yes you would’ve passed us at some point for sure! Wild life is fantastic we’ve become serial bird spotters 😂😂 let us know when you head back in the future we’ll keep an eye out!

Love the videos, You think you are novices, you are more advanced and educational for others than you realise. You are both inspirational. God Speed 👋
Ah thank you very much!
You look exhausted Danni. You and Joe have worked so hard on this boat, It's a credit to you both.
Thank you! Recovered from this now 😂
Well done both. Watched from the first time purchased. Brilliant transformation. 👏
Ahh thank you! What a journey hey? 😂
Omg I am tired watching the vlog.
A gigantic amount of effort and work.
Hats off to you
Fantastic job.
Well done.
Thank you!
Total respect to you both, you are so hard working and diligent. You are a real credit to your families and a truly lovely couple to boot. Oh and the boat looks fantastic! 😊
I am looking forward to watching all of your content👍
Good work guys!
You will forget the pain..😂
I’m sure we will, but for now we’re scarred 😂
Wow give yourselves a big pat on the back. You will look back at this (eventually) and appreciate how worth it was
Definitely glad now it’s over but really happy with the results, feels good to have done it ourselves 😊
Boat looks great, now you guys can enjoy the fruits of your labor
Thank you!
Love how Doris made herself at home x
She definitely did haha, like she lived there her whole life 😂
So much respect to you guys. I feel your pain.

Ahhh that would be so much easier
Frog tape rather than masking tape - makes a massive difference. Costs a little more, but so worth it. Credit to your hard work
good quality tape makes for an easy life 👍
The worst thing is that we already had plenty of the low tack blue tape just didn’t think to use it as wasn’t a fine line to mask or anything, lesson learnt though!
@@ItsOhJoe It's looking good. Emphasize on the long days to get there though. Enjoy your trip - well earned
Just 2 words, WELL DONE 🙂
Thank you!!
The boat looks great! The paint has completely transformed it
Definitely was the only thing letting it down before really, so pleased with it for the time we had!
That looks spot on ❤
Cheers!
What a transformation
Thank you we’re really pleased!
Wow she looks lovely well done guys
Thank you so much 😊
It's looking great! When I think of how it was before... !!!! Well done!
Yes crazy difference from when we first started!
Brilliant job guys. Such a massive task in a short space of time you have done a superb job. Chill out now and take a rest. Happy travels. 👍👍
Thanks so much!

Doris is the best! Can’t wait to get our boat dog one day! So glad it’s over but it was character building for sure! 😫😂
Pain is over! Do not scrape any paint off when cruising. It will give you the pain back! 😉
Scared to move it now!!

Ta-dah! See how easy that was. Lol! Looks Great!

👏👏👏well done looking fab xx
Thank you!
Oh my guys! I love the colour
Ahh thank you we like it if anything a touch darker than anticipated but it does suit the boat!
Well done guys. Great job, the dark green looks class. I'd hire you both any day. 😃💚
Thank you very much!

@@52Mistakes Oh wow that’s the way to do it! 😂 that’s an amazing come back
It’s looking all right from my bed 😂😂
Can’t wait to see the pin striping you both plus dad getting it done this far 👍👍👍👍👍👍 The green machine
Thank you! 😂
You two are so cute. Love watching you guys.
Thanks so much!
Great job folks, FYI the dew point is the key to painting steel, you can use an electrical device or a whirling hygrometer to determine the dew point.
Yes someone mentioned the dew point before we started so was always a worry. Didn’t know you could measure it though!
well done on getting stuck in and your hard work and getting the job done.....
Thank you!
I like the choice of green color
Thank you we love it!
I really enjoyed this video and am so impressed by the high standard of your work. I found that Frog tape is pretty reliable and they do a low tack version for delicate surfaces.
Thank you! Yes definitely lesson learnt, annoying thing is we had enough of the ultra low tack blue tape!
Keep up the good work you too it's looking good x
Thank you! We’re really pleased with the end result 😊
Looks brilliant.
Cheers!
Yep you guys can absolutely get things done,
Thanks Billy!!
Hi guys thank you for your reply,I will be following your RUclips channel from now on
Thank you!
Hard work paid off. Great video.
Thank you!
If you drive a nail through the valley in the paint can edge it will allow the paint to drain back into the can. When you put the lid on, it will reseal the can and keep the paint from drying out.
Ahh good idea that! Will try it next time!
Great job. Looking forward to seeing you on the move.congrats.

Absolute WOW. What a great look. Congrats on sticking with it.

Aw thank you so much! We’ve come a long way since we purchased her 😊
What a great job guys
Thank you!
I painted my 60 foot dutch barge, it took 2 of us about 5 weeks, a real nightmare, it was so much harder than expected, so well done you guys :)
That’s still not bad going for a big boat like that!
What a great job you guys have done on your boat both inside and out…. You must be totally knackered after the mammouth paint job….. but a ‘proper job’ you’ve done. You should be proud of yourselves. Love watching you guys 🙏👍
It was most definitely the hardest thing we have done. Not being able to justify a day off but we are so happy with it now!
Thank you so much! Yes it was great to see it finished after all that
Well done both of you, you have done a great job, and as for you saying the paint is till soft, it can take upto a couple of weeks for the paint to properly cure :)
Yes we have learnt this the hard way, may need to touch up where the plank has been 😬

Coming along great, I’ve never heard of “Cookman” shorts! 😮
They're a maker of chefs trousers but quite fancied the leopard print shorts!
Congratulations on your perseverance and hard work. Never seen you before but will keep watching.
