the 3 best rudiments to start, are the "single stroke roll, Double stroke roll, and the single paradiddle." Start slow until it feels comfortable and then speed it up a bit.
Always use Metrodome. After using one for awhile you hear it even when not using one so then your meter with be on time. Shows you also when your off when you wouldn't know otherwise making you a better drummer when you hope on the drums.
Nice work! That's the best substitute for those expensive drum pads in the music stores. Afterall, drum pads are (normally) nothing but rubbers attatched to wood 😇
Good stuff ... like the diy drum pad I’m starting back from scratch since I haven’t played into years, so I’ll be doing single stroke paradiddles and double Doing a restoration drum that is taking for ever but it’s almost done lol
It is not enough bouncy when you drop a stick in frefall stick must bounce minimum 6-12 times, try to aply 1 more ruber circle on top of that red ruber and learn how to hold sticks and for cuting same thing but i used a Sandpaper rottary machine for edges
Pertty nice, just under few conditions: you need proper tools, some skills, enough time and a lot of patience for such a DIY. You'll probably save few bucks, as the drumming pads, like that one you made, aren't very expensive. The only reward you'll get is a satisfaction of a selfmade pad. Is it worth it?
If I didn't have access to the tools and enjoy making things I'd just go and buy one. However I enjoy the problem solving that comes with DIY projects.
1/8 inch rubber sheet 3/4 Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) 1/4 Cork tile Hopefully the list translates into your language. If not check the links in the video description for photographs on amazon.
@@Woodified I am saying find an old car tire and cut a box shape out of it . The balder the tire the better . Glue that to a board . I spend enough on music equipment . I would not want to spend a dime on a practice pad . Take care .
So fortunate your son asked you to make him his first pad….that is a great honor…..
yes it was
Wow, so glad I found your video today! Great idea! Picking up the drums again after 20 years and I need a practice pad.
Wonderful!
I'm practicing double paradiddles, this actually a really good tutorial I liked it alot
Thanks Night Eagle. Good luck with your rudiments.
ALL OF THE RUDIMENTS! Awesome video! Gonna make, a dimmed down version of this for my students.
Thank you. Have fun with the build!! If you have any questions feel free to leave it in the comments as I read them all.

Good video, currently I am working to get a faster paradiddle because I just started drum lessons 😀
Rock on!
Good work
Please what are the names of the materials used
Links to the materials are in the description. Plus a used a piece of MDF
@@Woodified OK
Im doing the same thing but im going to glue the cork in between the wood and rubber.
That sounds like it's worth trying.
Pls what your using wood or what pls can you tell
Medium-density fibreboard (MDF)
Awesome video. May I ask what type of rubber you used for this project? I plan on making my own diy drum pad as well
I put links to the products in the description.
I am using a milling maschine to cut out circles. I guess the best tool to build circles is a lathe.
i'm practicing my region band music i am actually performing this weekend i'm scared ): i will do good though... i hope. (:
Good Luck with your performance!!

Good luck with the restoration. I've thought about trying to build a drum kit myself but haven't had the time.
Woodified Thank you I appreciate that
is it good for marching?
Yes good for practicing your rudiments

Great video. Thank you for making this 🥁🤘
My pleasure! Rock on!
hello! but what kind of cork sheet did you use? is it rubberised or natural one?
I used a natural cork tile amzn.to/3e3vDEG (Affiliate link).
What is the rubber you used?
Similar to this sheet amzn.to/2RCu7lJ (affiliate link)
Deus abençoe isso faz compartilhar e bom , bom que você tem boa habilidade com madeira mostra vidros . como montar bateria praticável.

How thick was your cork sheet?
The cork sheet was 3/8 inch thick.
Great idea, thanks for the video 👍.
Glad you liked it!
I'm new to drumming. But I'm learning lickety split
That's great. Drums are awesome!
Great work!... and btw, your technique is pretty good for not being a drummer
I appreciate that!
Single strokes......l want some to buy but it is scarce in our country (Ghana)
thanks for watching. Maybe you can find something else to use instead.

You can write practice pad components
1/8 inch rubber sheet
3/4 Medium-density fibreboard (MDF)
1/4 Cork tile
Hopefully the list translates into your language. If not check the links in the video description for photographs on amazon.
I am also learning to play drum and my exercise is 2 times left and 2times right for 1hour
L L R R and repeat. To some that will sounds easy but as you get faster it gets harder not to mess it up. I've tried. I can't go an hour. Have fun.
Nice project. I have never heard anyone pronounce the word router like that...
Glad you liked the project. For the pronunciation of router... I am Canadian, Eh!
How about Ping Pong pads...?
If you have some drum 'em
0:42 im pretty sure thats a jigsaw not a scroll saw
Yes you're right. That is a jigsaw not a scroll saw. Good catch.
You made a perfect cheesecake😃 Just kidding, nice work man👍
Thank you 😋
She's got rebound
Happy practicing.
i thought i'd see how to make a drum pad. now i feel like making a cheesecake instead.
mmm...cheesecake. Now that you say it I see it.
I am practicing hertas because they are the most important rudiment
Thanks for sharing
I think a piece of old tire cut and screwed to a board would be cheaper and maybe better .
Interesting... Do you think it would matter whether the section of tire was flat?

Recommend say 1/4 inch rubber or at least 3/16….
Thanks for the tip
Can you make me one please that will be really nice of you
I don't sell them at this time. You could try and make your own following my video.
How about just making it square, much less work...?
Good tip. Yes making it square would be less work.
im practicing 2 bar phrasing like drags and ghosts
That sounds cool (I just looked it up).
"rotor bit"... well it's still not as bad as a "sodoring iron".
LOL!.....ah...don't watch my electronics project.
Getting some Jerry vibes
Who's Jerry?
You should of used gum rubber
Yeah! That would probably work good too.
Practice with singles and doubles
Awesome!
Double stroke practice
Happy drummin'
Doble taps
Double Stroke Roll (R R L L, R R L L, R R L L, R R L L)

@@Woodified u are welcome
"scroll saw" .....
...when learners 'teach'...

Use whatever saw you have access to. Scroll saw, coping saw, jig saw, etc.
Im practicing flams
Cool
I'm Italian so maybe its not right how I said it
Sounds like you're practicing the "Double Stroke Roll" (R R L L, R R L L ....). Have fun learning!
R-o-u-t-e-r pronounced rohwter, not rotor, get it right!
I'll remember your comment for my next router vid.
When u copy another kids video
Good luck with your drum pad build.
Inverted paradidoes
I'm still new to the drum world as my Son learns. I looked that up....That looks advanced.
