How do you get a Canadian NHL franchise. Put one in Atlanta and wait.
It’s 2024, gotta appease the DEI 😉😉
There's a simple way to get a successful NHL franchise in Canada. Make the Maple Leafs allow another NHL team in Hamilton. It would quickly be one of the best rivalries in the NHL. And the Canadian media would be going crazy.
How do you get the Stanley cup to Canada? You don’t.
Ironic given how Winnipeg is currently struggling financially
@@CapsBrotha Atlanta Jets, as it should have been in 1998
Atkanta is a massive market. When they left atlamta last time, they had a better attendance than half the league in the nhl. It didn't fail due to a lack of support.
Attendance doesn't necessarily reflect revenue. Cheap seats and even handing out tickets for free was a normal thing with the Atlanta teams.
I'm supportive of the NHL returning to Atlanta, but after Year One was in the books, the Thrashers at *NO* point of their existence were in the top half of the league in attendance. Not one. Again, I'd be happy for ATL to return, but I'm not about to make stuff up to support an argument.
@@wbj2000 dude it was a lie
- The Atlanta Thrashers and Flames attendances were BAD....do not let anyone lie to you and tell you otherwise
ATLANTA THRASHERS ATTENDACES:
2011 - 28th/30 teams in NHL attendance (13,469)
2010 - 28th/30 teams in NHL attendance (13,607)
2009 - 29th/30 teams in NHL attendance (14,626)
2008 - 22nd/30 teams in NHL attendance (15,831)
2007 - 21st/30 teams in NHL attendance (16,240)
- the inaugural season (1999) was the best attended season for Atlanta
- it is NEVER a good sign when your first year is the most successful -the attendance just dropped off after that
- 2007 was the Thrashers SECOND best season ever in attendance with a truly pathetic 16,240....(only good enough for 21st in the NHL that year)
- 2007 was also Atlanta's most successful year in the league losing in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals
- Atlanta Thrashers second BEST was only good enough for 21st in the NHL in 2007
- IMAGINE being in a race, and you're finishing 29/30, 28/30, 22/30, 21st place out of 30 runners is considered good in your mind???? Atlanta was a complete joke. The attendances were truly pathetic.
2011 - 28th/30 teams in NHL attendance
2010 - 28th/30 teams in NHL attendance
2009 - 29th/30 teams in NHL attendance
2008 - 22nd/30 teams in NHL attendance
2007 - 21st/30 teams in NHL attendance
- Atlanta Thrashers second BEST attended season (16,240) would be 26th in today's NHL
Nothing about Atlanta says "success story"
Why does the league need 34 teams?? That just seems like unnecessary bloat
The league had 31 teams at one point, in due process they’ll have to have 34 teams to attain the full expansion of having 36. Atlanta, Quebec City, Houston & Utah
money lol, the owners all get a piece of the pie. All of them are greedy. you want a piece of a new team getting a billion dollar franchise to get admitted to the league? that money gets split between the owners.
I don’t want more teams for sake of quality. Do I want to grow the sport? ABSOLUTELY!! It’s a catch 22. More teams dilute the talent but also grows the sport. Which one is better?

WT ? Peace & Love & Understanding for the Buffalo Sabres ❤❤❤😊?
Did Grandpa put mushrooms in the stew?
Enough teams
Don’t you think the NHL has given those expansion teams waaaaay to much in their drafts. You have to feel for Wpg, Vancouver, Ottawa etc that had to scrounge for players when they came into the league and were bottom dwellers for years. Winnipeg actually had to give up some of their better players to existing NHL teams when they entered the league.
Exactly what I was thinking, just garbage.
That Elliotte Friedman impression was so good, I want more of it!
A question for you: Is Three Blind Mice the only song banned by the League for arena organists to play?
Gary Glitter - Rock and Roll, Part 2 was also banned in Maple Leaf gardens, as he was a known pedophile and there was some dark history of this behaviour by staff back in the day.
Re: banking a shot off goalie's head. See Dustin Buyfuglien 2018 playoffs bank one off Binnington's head from behind the goal line and try to tell me that wasn't intended. My second favorite Buyfuglien clip. Love Buff!!
Why not have older officials that cant keep up with the speed of the game be the guys that talk to the media after the games, they have a scrum with the officials then they give the presser after the game.
Hopefully the Quebeccor are still interested in applying for the NHL expansion again..... because it looks like it's a done deal Atlanta and salt lake City
*for
Spot-on imitation.
W episode
I hope Ho Sang makes a big come back
WASHINGTON and Mr Ovechkin ..... !!!
My memory is going dudes, Vancouver fans what happened to Boston last year?
Every year is different.
It’s not in Atlanta fist of all. They’re going to put the complex in a very non-melinated area that has money and no crime. I would know I’m not far from it 😊
excellent - what color sheet will you be wearing to the games ?
@@pjpredhomme7699 you do realized why the team failed right? No one wanted to get mugged, raped or car jacked going to see the thrashers 😂😂😂😂.
Trash the Patch 🗑️🚮 LGRW!!

There is not a chance in hell anyone would be drunk enough to try Arizona again. It was an epic fail over a VERY long period.
Hey, do you want to sink a couple billion dollars into a completely failed market?? You can even call them the Coyotes. 🤣🤣
...the Jets are heading where...?
Atlanta
@@atlantisource hockey could never work in Atlanta, it is a terrible city for hockey
@@sampicano turns out it’s a better hockey city than Winnipeg. Hockey is returning to Atlanta, just not downtown Atlanta. Cry more
@@atlantisource turns out you are a liar
Winnipeg Jets generated more revenue for the NHL than the Atlanta Thrashers
And Quebec City is larger than Winnipeg, if Winnipeg generated MORE revenue than Atlanta, so would Quebec City.
- In 2010 the Atlanta Thrashers were valued at $135 million USD
- Between 2005 to 2010 the Atlanta Thrashers lost $130 million - $26 million a year in losses
- In 2011 the Atlanta Thrashers (population of 5,729,304 in 2010) relocated to Winnipeg (population of 730,018 in 2011) they relocated to a city with 5 million less people...
- In 2011 the team's value went from only 135 million in Atlanta to 164 million in Winnipeg - an increase of $29 million in one year
- In 2012 the team's value went from 164 million to 200 million in winnipeg - an increase of $36 million
So Atlanta lost $52 million between 2008 to 2010 Winnipeg gained $65 million for the NHL
- Between 2011 and 2020 the Winnipeg Jets set the NHL record for the most consecutive sellouts in history
- Jets soldout 41 games a year for 10 straight years (from 2011 to 2020 until covid 19 hit)...that is a record that Atlanta could NEVER accomplish.
Atlanta (population of 5.7 million) was loosing $26 million a year
Winnipeg (population of 700 thousand) was generating $32 million a year
Atlanta Thrashers had no fans, had terrible attendances, had terrible valuations and bled money.

I cannot believe the NHL wants to kick the dead horse in Atlanta again. If an expansion team goes ahead in Atlanta again, it will truly be the definition of insanity.

Very good , drop franchise in Atlanta, watch it fail; then move to Quebec
Can't grow the game there. Not interested as much as y'all aren't interested in American markets.
Atlanta again no no no

A T L!!!! 😊
For all the cry baby Canadians whining about Atlanta your problem is with Gary. Your country isn’t getting another team. Trudeau has tanked the economy, the exchange rate isn’t favorable, QC isn’t getting one, Hamilton isn’t getting one, so shut up. Atlanta is twice as good a place to put a team as it was in 1998. A new arena and entertainment district will rival anything the rest of the league has to offer. Look at what’s happening in Raleigh. Atlanta is better than Raleigh. CRY MORE!!! Quite frankly Atlanta deserves to have the Jets. Cry.
No to Atlanta….no third try. And no expansion. 32 teams is already bloated and watered down. Also maybe you should deal with the garbage franchises first Gary. For the love of our Canadian game can someone knock some sense into these business execs. Also stop talking about this nonsense. Don’t give this any air time. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Cry more. Zona to Salt Lake City, San Jose to Atlanta. Deal with it.
@@atlantisourceWho the hell suggested the San Jose Sharks were going anywhere?
@@brycemcneil4404 I did. 30th in attendance, the gm is lost in a wet paper bag, a decade since they were relevant, California is a hostile environment to do business. Expansion isn’t the solution to the league’s problems. Forcing a sale, cleaning house and a clean slate might be the solution they’re looking for.
@atlantisource Where to start.....
1-- if California became a sovereign nation tomorrow, it would have the 5th largest GDP in the world. For a place that's hostile for business......sure is a lot of business.
2--- no team is in danger if the owner isn't interested in moving them. You said "solution they are looking for." Who's the "they" here? There's zero evidence the SJS ownership are remotely interested in moving.
3--- you propose that they'd move to Atlanta, a city whose teams ranked in the upper half of attendance exactly *once* in both franchises' histories. All because they happen to be 30th in attendance *right now.* Never mind the 18k avg attendance over 15 years prior to COVID and the team- surprise! surprise!-- has been terrible on the ice since COVID. It's going to take a few more years before relocation is considered any realistic option and moreover...
4--- if the day ever came the Sharks moved, I'd put money on San Diego (Kroenke's development) over Atlanta. The league likes to keep its geography neat and couldn't wait to re-align after the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg. They'd look to SD (or Salt Lake) before they looked to Atlanta.
I do think the league is returning to Atlanta one day and am generally supportive of the idea but I'm dubious it'll ever be the Atlanta Sharks.
@@brycemcneil4404 Covid has made cali even more neurotic and toxic than it already was. Especially the Bay Area. Cali has a big economy. Big deal. Georgia is top ten globally, and a hot bed of corporate headquarters. SJ is bad, attendance is bad, the front office is bad. The “they” is the league. It’s in the sentence right before that, smarty pants. The new Atlanta arena wouldn’t be downtown where the hockey fans WEREN’T. If you don’t think the sharks are on a short list to get their ish together, or get gone, then you’re just a silly billy. So, which do you like: Atlanta Chiefs, Arrows, Aeros, Blazers? I’ve a few more close to the vest😘 your team won’t be there in a decade. Get used to it.
Why couldn't Marner get hurt 3 weeks ago. We could have vegased him on ltir and went out and got a d and forward.
