Such an honest genuine dude. Always love hearing the greatest athletes talk about their weaker moments. I think the sports psychology thing is huge. Especially at the pro level.
@@zeroskyline1324 They helped Marc-Andre Fleury a lot as well. It's always nice to talk to someone when you're struggling with anything! Love Nathan, met him last summer when he was home in NS.
It's so great to see this interview and know that 2 seasons later Nate would finally get a Cup after all the bitter disappointment. Such great champion not mention a humble, hardworking guy. Way to go Nate!
Nathan mackinnon “ looking back now I think it was offsides but at the time it was so close that like maybe they could have just let it go” haha I love this team and this player
Like Nathan alot. I love how open he was with being a sports psychologist during the season, shows a tremendous amount of maturity that he matches with his other-worldly talent
Honestly fuck the Olympics for hockey, it's extremely overrated. World Cup ( small rinks ) goes for better overall action and brings out the rivalry with a playoff vibe to them.
Yeah they cancelled the one that was suppose to happen in 2020? Regardless of that, it was still said that's the kind of format that they want to go by for now on. Imo I could care less if the next national tournament is after 2025. As long as they continue from where they left from the World Cup of hockey than I'm good. Normal size rinks are for the best imo
These interviews were golden. Nice relaxed setting, good atmosphere. Some really funny stories from both Sid and Mackinnon, and some really interesting ones too. I think it was brave from MacKinnon to share so openly about his harder patches of his career and super interesting also. From MacKinnon - Barkov pair, Sasha has always been my favorite so far being a finn and such. But I don't know anymore. Plus Nate plays for the right team. More of these please!
I remember the pre season fan meet and greet the first year Mac was with the Avalanche, he was 18. He was asked to speak to the crowd and he turned completely red. He was such a young kid and you could tell he was super embarrassed and awkward. It has been fun watching him grow up over the years and yet still a nice kid!
Crazy to think of this guy having confidence issues, as a flames fan I was absolutely blown away by how he ran train all over them this year in the playoffs. Every time he touched the puck he seemed unstoppable.
Always saw MacKinnon as someone quite distant... coldish. So glad I’ve watched this video, helps understand the character better. Wish he put a little bit less pressure on himself cause he’s a super player, very entertaining on the ice and seems like a very cool dude 👍👍👍
Got to hoist that cup 3 years later; and now he’s the best player in the world and the reigning MVP on pace to win it again this year plus the Art Ross…. This dude embraced the grind and forced his way to the top.
He's a remarkable man. He's so open and honest about his personality issues. So direct and honest . Driven on a compulsive level. Look where it got him . What an athlete.
The dude on the left looks like if Bill Burr had hair. Black hair. 19:17 Sports psychology talk. Interesting stuff. 27:40 His 99 point talk lmao. 37:16 LIL CROZ
What a fabulous young man. Nathan shows how great Syd is too. I sure hope he wins a Stanley Cup. Nice guys can finish first. Thanks for the interview. Awesome!!
I've heard of Spittin' Chiclets only from the Steve Dangle Podcast referencing you guys, completely unaware of where to find it or anything. Watching this because it popped in my suggestions and thought what the hell, how much more time per week can I waste listening to hockey talk? (as it turns out, all of it) So I'm geeking at MacKinnon giving a candid interview and about the 20 minute mark I slowly began realizing who was interviewing him. "Is that ...Paul Bissonnette?" [wide shot] "Shit, that's Ryan Whitney."
Imagine if Seth Jones was drafted to the avalanche. His story is pretty cool. His dad was playing in the NBA for the nuggets and he just fell in love with hockey. And then they ran into joe Sakic and he gave him some tips on skating. It all started in Denver for Seth Jones.
A year Later after watching the playoffs that man is my favorite D man in the league, I would put him on any line against any team and any player at any time and have 10000% confidence. Rare fucking breed. Reaves in size and a offensive hunger to skate with the puck like Bobby Orr, strong in the corners on the boards and in front of the net like Big Buff. His number will be retired by the Jackets if he stays. I cant wait to see Jones face Canada in a gold medal game this decade, I wouldnt feel like it was a real win or loss unless he was there to face us.
Damn this was a fantastic interview. I didn't really have any thoughts on mackinnon, good or bad, but I definitely started liking him now. This and the interview with Crosby are just great videos.
Expensive means he can be sold. Trade for him no matter what honestly. Dont over board it to much but say if there askin (for example) pastrnak, holtby, 1st rd pick. Or if u dont have draft then say a b. Schenn or some. U get it
yeah, they submit it to the NHL teams so they can take out parts they believe will hurt their franchise or the players PR. they probably push it back until they have absolutely nothing to do.
Aw, 12:10, 46:20 he's a good sport. Refreshingly honest introspection throughout. Sweet that he's such a huge Crosby fan lol hope Cap's giving him solid advice.
What he said about when he wasn’t doing well on the ice how it affects how you view yourself as a person, it’s so true. Whenever I struggled at a practice or game I would get real down until the next time I skated. I thought myself as less of a person or I had less value as a person. It’s tough to get over but being young you don’t really know how small sports is in life. Yes it can be a career. But it’s still only a career for a fraction of ppl for a portion of their life.
Nate: "I've been waiting for you Sid, the circle is now complete, when we last left Cole Harbor together I was but the learner, now I am the master" Sid: "Only a master of the regular season Nate"
That last game when the guys were just feeding him the puck for 100pts was hilarious. They would double and triple team Nate, and the avs would still pass to him. It was great!!!
