You are saving so much stuff from ending up in landfills and turning it into fantastic items people really enjoy...not to mention taking us along for the ride. I'm glad you're having success with your new venture. You certainly have a knack for it. Well done!
Thank you so much! I'm definitely not going to get rich quick but it's a good business to make an honest living. Thank you very much for pointing out how it saves things from ending up in landfills. I think that is a major plus to my work. It makes me very happy that things aren't wasted and people aren't buying new if they buy my things

Corey, actually home sewing is experiencing a real comeback. It is fun to watch, I am 62, have been sewing since I was 12-13, and seen so many changes. There are not as many small fabric stores, and even the big stores like Joann are really struggling in spite of lots of young people discovering the hobby. I do notice on their channels that lots of the newcomers are seeking unconventional ways to obtain fabric, like charity shops , and scavenging fabric from items that are worn.
I love Joanns and I hate seeing their stores struggle but they are so expensive in general that I don't usually buy my crafts from there.
I'm 65 & have been sewing since around 12 or 13! I love seeing sewing making a comeback. The schools have dropped it from their curriculum. I've thought of offering teaching classes. I have enough machines that I could teach a few at a time. I don't know if anyone would be interested .
@@nitagail77that’s a great idea but I would t do it from my home unless you know the parents. Maybe from the school or a church? Community center? But great idea!
Me too! Will be 69 next month. Sewing from about 10 but mother had me on her treadle at 5 making paper stamps. Doll blankets etc. But was doing family mending like sewing buttons on and hemming early too by hand. I taught myself to fix vintage machines only 4 years ago. Because we also moved to rural high desert in So Cal. As soon as all in this town of 2,000 found out I sew Ive been given entire grandmas sewign rooms 5 times, a lot of jeans as I sell and make bags and totes along with a few other upcycles and now have 10 machines! I have tried teaching several times but they become no shows. I offered first 8 hours free, usually in 2 or 4 sessions. If they cant make that then no. Im thinking to do a specific workshop. A no sew tote or simple sew one. There are quilters but found they dont understand clothing construction. Why Im the town mender which I dont want to be! I also have some peeves. One is no glue in sewing! I can see for a few things but it wont last and cant wash.
@@DesertDIYIve upcycled thrifted a lot of my life but stopped buying yardage at stores as its bad quality for $20 a yard. In 70s when minmum wage was $2 good fabric cost between 50 cents a yard to $2. I bought on sales. I will buy and upcycle clearance clothing. I need to make a channel. I started a blog but hard to teach sewing that way.
I have watched your channel since it started, and I love it. I rarely comment, but I would love to see thrift flips and decorating. I pick up things at the thrift store and then have no clue what to do with them. I am good at crafting but am creatively challenged. Any decorating ideas are always welcome. ❤
Thank you Rachelle I'd be happy to help. In the mean time you should definitely check pinterest for ideas too
*Cory, I would have purchased the 4 small wooden frames with verbiage in them (Bless This Mess, etc.) and painted over the fabric with DIY Paint and then applied I.O.D. (Iron Orchid Designs) transfers that go together and sell them as a Set. 😊 I may have also bought the larger framed fabric saying you looked at a few seconds earlier before looking at those 4 frames - depending on the condition - and painted the fabric and added a stencil as well. It's amazing how many projects you can make with DIY Paint and I.O.D. Stencils because there are SO MANY STENCILS in a package that you can stretch your dollars REALLY FAR. 😂*
Those are seriously great ideas! Love it!
@@DesertDIY *Glad you loved those ideas. ❤💜💕*
That flower painting with the chunky frame I was screaming save itttt
Haha I'm sorry!!!
You are a breath of fresh air. Very genuine and seem kind. Love the finds
Thank you so much Daisy
It’s very cute how you justified your never ending love of decorating your home by recycling/selling your “old” decorations. Which is why I enjoy seeing both stuff for the home episodes AND stuff for the booth equally.
Thank you Nicole
Great finds! I might have grabbed the BH&G red check cookbook. I sell the ones with a ring binder as soon as I set them out. That one didn’t look to have a binder so it may not have sold as quickly?!?
Very interesting! That is good to know! Thank you!
That has been a great cookbook for decades.
I would leave the coffee pot as is for a vintage look, and set a cheap plastic cup in it, fill with water, and some fresh tulips or daffodils for spring. That copper heart cake mold is a find! Parisienne Farmgirl sold one for around $80!
I like how you mix it up: showing us thrift hauls, redoing small stuff, flipping furniture, showing your booth,….and I just watched the ugly duckling challenge from Aug 2023. It was so much fun seeing the other people, too.
Thank you so much! I need to schedule a new ugly duckling challenge
LOL the toe tap cracked me up! Great haul! I love it all the flip and style and goodwill bin shopping.
Haha thank you! Trying to get more creative with my filming.
I started shopping at the Goodwill bins 35 years ago with my son in a stroller. I shopped for kids clothes, toys, and home decor. My favorite find was a $5 vintage Singer 500 A Rocketeer sewing machine identical to my mom’s that she taught me to sew on.
Wow I had no idea the bins have been around that long
Wow. 35 years ago!
You knew before anyone knew!!!
I love the flips but also how you display the objects in your home. I get ideas in my head as to the look I want but then can't put the aesthetic together...it doesnt alwsys come out the way I wanted. lol Love all the things you got this time! ❤️
I know exactly what you mean and it took me forever to start to be able to create what I see in my head
I love how I can live vicariously through you at the Goodwill bins!! You found such awesome stuff 😊😊
Yay! I am so glad to help lol. Thank you
I look for good MDF signs or wood signs that I can paint over and use transfers or decoupage
Very smart!
I love everything you grabbed. I have a booth. I am closing in April. Its too much. The summers here in Arizona are too dead and i end up paying my rent out of pocket. I dont do furniture. Best wishes to you with your booth adventures.
Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that. I am a bit worried about the slow times coming up but we will see!
I love watching your hauls, you still can read the old magazines we need to slow down.
I agree!
*Since I am a "Trekkie" I may have also picked up the Millennium Falcon Starship toy if it was in good condition...you didn't pick ot up, so I couldn't tell. 😞😮✨️🌎*
Haha I didn't even see it
@@DesertDIY *That's not hard to imagine; there are so many things to look at there‼️🤣🤪🤐*
so cool, you are in the Painted Tree! i think you are in Houston,
i have a friend that is in the one in Katy, are you in that one? if you are
i would love to know which number is yours!!
Yes indeed. Mine is inside the one in Kingwood about 45 min from Katy. There are many locations in houston
*Cory, that Anthropology piece is a buoy birdhouse...so CUTE‼️🤍💙*
Thank you! I knew it I just wasn't sure
Yes! It’s a buoy! Pretty cute!
*The next bigger size plate after the bread and butter plate is the salad plate. Cory. 😊 I hope you don't mind so many comments from me on this one video of yours‼️ I am watching your video and stopping to comment as you ask us questions or if I see something I think you would want to know, LOL. 😁*
I appreciate it Leslie. Salad plate! Yes!
So I just experienced my first goodwill, outlets or bins for the first time over the weekend. It was crazy and you’re right most of the time it’s. Clothes but this particular outlet was all shoes they made a mad dash for the shoes. Not too much stuff and you’re right the Goodwill in, my county in Tennessee is very very expensive. I’ve noticed the price is going up. Somethings that Goodwill marks higher than the original price which I’ll never understand but great hall. Thanks again for the video.
Thank you Lisa. Isn't it crazy? I'll never understand that either.
Don’t toss the clocks if they don’t work. Go to a craft and buy a replacement clock works and you can have a working clock for a few dollars you have a working clock. Reuse the old clock hands if they look better. Also easy to do. Love all your videos they keep getting better and better.
That's a great idea thank you so much
Sherry, at Canterbury cottage does amazing things with old clocks, and it’s fine that they don’t work..
I would’ve gotten the Susan Branch book for myself! I’m a big fan of her are and sensibility.
Good eye
New subscriber / 76 yr. old who's been drawing all my life / love your natural realness and enthusiasm. Good luck with the surgery and recovery.
Your birdhouse would be a buoy, used up here in New England! Don’t shine the teapot!! The patina is perfect!! ❤
How fun this looked! I would have picked up the floral painting of a bouquet towards the first of the bins video.
I know exactly which one you are talking about
at the bins you picked up and left behind an accordion stretch hanger rack. what was wrong with it? those are a great way to display rolling pins or put shelves on them for a display of a small collection
I think it was a wine rack. I don't drink and didn't think it would sell quickly. Maybe I am wrong!
@@DesertDIY *Cory, that accordion stretch hanger is a wall rack, not a wine rack. 😉 Any time you find one of those, BUY IT, BECAUSE THEY SELL LIKE HOT CAKES❣️‼️❣️ They first became popular in the 1920's and 1930's as they were sold as hat racks to hang by the front door of the household for men's brimmed hats when men wore hats to work every day...and they did wear hats through the 1960's and part of the 1970's when dress became more casual and the flower child and hippie movement began...but they were STILL USED BY THE FRONT DOOR for kid's snow ❄️ hats, mittens on strings, purses, dog leashes, to hang your keys 🔑 when you came in the door, etc. THEN, women brought them into their pantry to hang brooms, mops, dust pans - and into their kitchens to hang pot holders, aprons, kitchen gadgets, kitchen utensils, pots and pans - so these items were readily available to access to prepare and cook food with, or to display as decor. Then, women started using them in their kitchens or dining rooms as coffee ☕️ mug holders for their "coffee and hot cocoa bars" or for tea 🍵 cups, creamers or even gravy boats. Next, these accordion hangers appeared in bedrooms for robes, nightgowns, neckties, 👔 necklaces, belts, scarves - and even to hang dried flowers 💐 and greenery and vintage dresses 👗 and Victorian baby clothes as decor and to hang vintage brushes, combs, mirrors, lint brushes, shoe 👞 shine brushes, shoe horns from. If you go to Danielle's Channel - Home Made Vintage - you can see how she has designed hers in her master bedroom. If you watch Julie's Channel - Julie's Designs and Signs - you can see she has these accordion racks hanging all over her home, hanging all kinds of things as decor for display. 🤎 Baskets and florals look great hanging from these accordion shelves❣️ Julie has even turned these accordion hangers on their sides and added shelves for another twist on this trend❣️*
*I don't drink either, but I and others have bought wire wine bottle racks to display vintage rolling pins - some with designs or stamps on them - because you can see the whole rolling pin when displayed. Just some food for thought for you, Cory, and new ways for you to make money with "smalls" in your booth.*
Thank you so much Leslie. That was very well written. You should seriously consider starting a blog because you know a lot about so many things and your writing is relaxing to read. I appreciate it so much that you share your ideas and knowledge here on my channel
@@DesertDIY *You are so welcome, Cory; thank you so much for the compliment‼️😊*
Any thrift shopping and then flipping is ehat I personally like to see, no matter if your selling it or decorating with it. Have watched for years now, your doing great!
Same here.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you saying that
My mom on 2 separate occasions found money in a purse she bought from a Goodwill. The first time was $150 a couple years later $200! The first time she tried to take the money into Goodwill and ask them if they can find the owner, but they told her there was no way they would ever be able to find the owner. So the next time which was just recently she was shocked to find that much again in a purse.
That is incredible. And it is true, there is no way to return it, so finders keepers. How cool is that! She is one lucky lady
I bought a purse at thrift store and found $100 in it!
Thrift flips and going thrifting are the best for me and how you decorate your booth with them ❤
Ok you got it 👍
I went to 2 Goodwills this week and ended up leaving empty-handed because I was so upset by the prices! One chunky basket was $25, and there was a set of pillowcases for throw pillows priced at $19 each 😵 I was so upset. Goodwill used to be so affordable.
Their pricing is very uneven. Some things are terribly overpriced, others underpriced. I haven’t been in a few months, but mine was so scammed full of merchandise it was difficult to even shop.
what in the world are these employees thinking with these prices. I'd probably get fired from goodwill for giving good prices
@DesertDIY me too! I mean, it's all donated so they are making 100% profit on each item 😐
There were so many good things I can’t remember what it was but you asked what color to paint it and I immediately thought paint it a pale green for Spring. Flips to decorate the house, please
Thank you Celeste!
Fantastic haul! You went through the bins like a boss🤣🤣. I would have picked up the metal clock at the bins to up cycle. I would be happy to watch what you do for your home, or the booth..either way it’s so enjoyable 💖.
Thank you so much Julie! I have to really plan out my time accordingly these days haha. That clock was super heavy so it would've cost maybe $12 by itself by the weight so I didn't get it
I would've gotten that adult walker cause I need one and all the canvas and wood art so that I can paint over them for therapy ❤
There's always limitless possibilities. Love it
I would love to see flips for decorating the house! Thanks!
Great plan!
I would rather see flips for your booth
You got it 👍
Hi I stumbled on your channel today I'm excited to see more of your videos
Thank you Debbie! I hope you love my latest video!
My mom taught me to always put money in a purse or wallet when giving it away to bring good luck to both parties. Me as karma and the other person to get them started or going in life. I always leave a dollar in them ❤️
That is adorable I love it
🙋. It was me that said my husband worked at Goodwill (thankfully not anymore) and people would remove the sticker's all the time to try and get a cheaper price. It would blow your mind how often same people would repeatedly do it 😅. My daughter work's at Walmart and many things people do there are just as bad. One guy used a sharpie and wrote $3 on a mop and argued the store marked it that way 😅😅😅😅😅. This world is crazy. Glad you were able to get that plate for what you wanted! Nice haul❤
That is hilarious! I wish I could just write the price I want to pay with a sharpie lol. Thank you so much for sharing that Intel with us all! I appreciate it. It's good to know
I think it’s fun to watch people makeover the things we see them thrift. This is my first time watching you.
*Cory, the flower you couldn't pronounce phonetically is:*
*Nah__stir___shum" - you're welcome, LOL‼️🤣🤣🤣*
*I think I would have bought everything you bought today...but I also would have bought that cobalt blue bottle at the first Goodwill Store you went to...my kitchen is cobalt blue and "old-timey" green, hahahaha.😂*
Haha if only you were here to shop it! I appreciate all your help and input
@@DesertDIY *Glad to help anytime...and happy my advice IS helpful. 😉 It's not that I am so smart; it's that I have lived a long time, and I know stuff through my life's experiences. 🤣*
I love your videos. You are yourself just like we are. Don't apologize for anything or second guess your self. You are one of my favorites! Great hauls by the way. ❤❤❤❤
All! Just so you flip.
I’d like to see how you flip for your booth! And I love that you share how you price your items!!
Have you ever thought about making and selling beeswax candles? All of those cute mugs made me think of that
I have! I did a few soy wax candles a few weeks ago in some thrifted vintage glassware
Flipping for decor as I don’t resell….
Thank you Katherine. I will make sure to show that as well
I love how you decorate your house and vote for anything to do with that.
Thank you so much Michelle!
I know it’s a longshot since this was filmed six months ago…
Was wondering if you might still have the Dahr Tin. If so, would you consider selling and shipping to Arizona? My grandma had one just like it that she used to keep all her sewing notions in. I know it’s not that old, but it truly reminds me of her.
I just started watching the channel. You’re so funny and I think you get some really great stuff. I am also from Arizona.
I would always grab the checker boards. My friend sells stuff in her moms booth and they sell well. She will use some dark wax and distresses hers. She goes for the more primitive look. I enjoy your site!
*The checkerboard has a Chinese Checkers Game grid on the back.😂*
That's what it was! Lol thank you
@@DesertDIY *Yes, now you need the colored marbles for the Chinese Checkers Game if you want to go that far - OR - you could Google it and attach a note on the back with the Chinese Checkers Game instructions and let them know what marbles they need in what colors they need to buy them and how many of each to buy in order to play that Game - OR - attach a note on the back saying they can look online for the Instructions to Play the Chinese Checkers Game on that side of the board and what marbles are needed to play it that they would have to buy themselves.*
*Are you going to add the regular Red and Black Checkers to the Board so you can sell it, or assume they will supply their own Checkers?*
I will sell it as is without the pieces as a decor piece for a bookshelf or someone may want it.
I would have grabbed sign with arrow, small red folding table, small signs unless too damaged , that checkerboard, heavy looking clock, shadow box, chalkboard, orange tray ,backpack, small Xmas trees and I think that's all. I just found you and subscribed so I don't really know how you resale your finds...
Love your channel... I am from AZ too... I miss the GW there!! They don't do 50% off of everything day in the midwest😢 you found some great items. I would have a hard time parting with them too.
I have been really enjoying watching your videos. I am a big thrifter, even though we have different styles, I love your aesthetic. It is so great to watch a you tuber being sustainable. There are way too many you tubers who do online hauls, very wasteful.
So forgive me for not knowing yet (new subbie), is your booth in an antiques store, or something more like a crafts mall/Saturday Market?
I don't see you picking up actual antiques, but a lot of new reproductions for flip projects.
I buy similar items to you! I set up at a local farmers market currently, and sometimes other markets. I do more smalls since I have to pack them up and then set them up each time. And I do more paper crafts, quilling flowers to attach to frames, decoupaging, etc. Love your videos, thanks for sharing your ideas! It’s opened my mind to more possibilities! 😊
Raymond Waites is/was a high end designer. He liscenced to Toyo, probably during the 90s. His stuff was in a lot of higher end furniture stores❤
Hi there, I’m fairly new to your channel. I’ve been watching your thrift shopping a lot, but I really enjoy when you take an item, make it over and then put it into a vignette to show how it would be displayed in your home/My Home
I definitely should be a flipper. I love to decorate my 124 yr old home that we've been renovating for 42 yrs. Lol. I love to craft and would love to open an stay store. Ill keep dreaming. Love your ideas and look forward to your videos.
You commented on attaching that Lenox plate to something for a craft project. Before you do that check and see how old it is, because some of them, depending on their age, can sell for $50.00 and up.
I don’t know if you’ll even see this comment as I am binge watching your past videos. But I have almost that exact hutch and you and I have similar styles so I’m going to give you my two cents worth I painted it and I did it in a light color that was supposed to be kind of white, but it definitely shows a little blue and gray depending on how the sun hits it and then I used a peel and stick French toile pattern wallpaper to line the back interior.
One of my grandma's taught me to sew by hand when l was 5 years old. The other one taught me to crochet when l was 8. Then my mom taught me to knit at 8 as well as picked up where my grandma's left off. I still do all that and more.
Love your haul. I’ve been sewing since I was 8 years old and still do and I will soon be 68. Thank you for sharing . 💗
I don't live near any binds. I have never been there. Maybe when I visit my sister and we can go. She's a clothing reseller. She earns money from that to pay for granddaughters gymnastics.
Hello from Germany! I was wondering how much you pay for things in the big bins. Is it by weight? 🤔
I have been pulling stuff out of my balcony storage closet to move into my storage locker, so l can build some shelves. While cleaner out the closet, l found 2 pieces of boards that are just the right size to make 2 of those risers you made in one of your videos
The wood signs I would get. You can always take things off and add to to make them different. Also the painting with the red or pink flower would have been a must.
I always look at the frames in the painting section. If a picture has non-glare glass and is a standard size, i get it. You can change the picture or use them to frame your own paintings or drawings. I sometimes leave the original print in the frame behind the picture I use, because if i change the color scheme in a room, the original might work well.
Our Goodwill has almost nothing
How sad!
I love your hauls but I mostly watch to see your flips/remakes.
Thank you! You'll love my 2 newest videos
What was wrong with the big clock?
It was very heavy so would've cost a lot more than I wanted to spend
Maybe would have gotten the checherboard, The clock, all the picture frames.
You found some amazing things!! Flips is what I enjoy😊
Either one, I like to get ideas on how to decorating my house but I also like to get ideas on how I may flip something that I can decorate. I don't resell
Color copy the Botanicals from your book and use it in the frames (don't use the actual print) that way they can be used more than once!
Love the cookie tin, I'd definitely snatch that one from your booth! ❤
I will be opening up an etsy store very soon!
I have beautiful bases for those hurricane glasses! But my glasses have all broken...
Hello!! Look up the tin, and the floral plate. I think they’re worth a little bit more money.☺️
Edited- PS… I love your channel!!😁 I’m hoping to start my RUclips channel here soon. I got a few things to workout first.😅 BTW.. if you have any tips & tricks for RUclips for me, I’ll take it! 😉
Hi Misty! RUclips takes a ton of work but it's worth it. Let me know if you have any specific questions about it. I'll look those up for sure
That “stew pot” reminds me of the French Onion Soup pots that I used to get at special restaurants when I was a kid.
I love your channel and I would like to see more on how to decorate with what you have.
Thank you Beverly! I'll get on it!
At 5:58 there was a red plaid cook book. I would have grabbed it. I wanted to know what was in the big cardboard box just before the cookbook
I would have grabbed the chessboard and made a small table with drawer. Keep the coins in the drawer, other time use as coffee table.
Just LOVE that I found you!! I would love more on decorating with what you find than decorating your booth. But I love everything about your channel…from the shopping to everything else!!❤
Thank you so much!
❤love watching you fair play to you I have plenty time now good health to you and your family ❤❤❤❤ 0:20
I would have pocked the wooden checkerboard. Add little legs and make it a riser.
The bottom part would be a great buffet table by itself, and I don 't knowcabout the top part though.
Actually all the pictures frames wood anything wood decor
The Baum mugs could sell for great money, A set of 4 on sersy is up for sale for over $50.
Great haul👍. There's probably a few things that I would've picked up that you left behind, but they were things that needed to be repainted, and there's only so many fixer-uppers you can do in your busy day so why make so much extra work for yourself. Especially since you already got so much great stuff this time.
My favourite item from your haul was the biscuit tin. It's one of the best I've seen for quite a while, and it was in such great condition too.
I like both your flipping and decorating videos, so I don't mind what content you want to put out next. As the saying goes, "variety is the spice of life," so do both?🤷♀️😂
I love the way you think. Thank you so much!
I would love to see how to utilize your flips in home decor! Thanks!
SUPER LOVE the copper heart and the wooden mortar cup!! Both very cool!
Such cool stuff!!!
@@DesertDIY *MEEE TOOO‼️*
*I L❤️VE THEM BOTH❣️💜💕*
Hurrican lamps is what we called those glass thingies. It was set on its side and styled.
Oh thank you
Flips for booth could you add how much you paid and how much you priced them for your booth.
I got my moms China hutch and I wanted to use it as a coffee/tea station so I mounted the top to the wall high enough to set up my coffee pot I painted it as well.
Hobby Lobby will never have a Code Bar... Thanks for sharing your video! 😘
I'm interested in how you upcycle regardless of resale or decor purposes.
im so glad you went back for that fabulous crate
Hi! The glass things is supposed to be used over a candle when you sit outside and it is windy.
I don’t think I’d grab stuffed animals from the bins.
I love your channel I live just east of Houston
I would lay it on a piece of wood or glass, metal, put a scenery of flowers.
I think that lattice picture hanger thing might look good with a framed picture attached to it in the center.
