Jesse and My Aunt were extremely close. I remember Jesse playing at my 12th birthday and not only could this man move any one with his sound. He could also get a laugh out of anybody. His death crushed my aunt. My aunt recently left us and the sliver of happiness I hold on to in her passing is that She and Jesse get to laugh and share cigarettes in peace. Rest In Peace Aunt Sunny and Jesse.
NOVEMBER 6, 2016 -- Happy 32nd Birthday, Jess ... These 5 years since you've gone went by entirely way too fast and yet agonizingly too damn slow. Rest easy ... we miss you. Love, Uncle Dane
There are special people in this world. I just discovered Jesse today. This cover is the best I’ve seen of this song, and his voice and body language is so natural. You can tell that this was not only a natural talent but it was his passion. It’s very tragic that he took his own life. It’s a dark world out there. But it is somewhat reassuring to know that Jesse did leave something beautiful. He has brought thousands of people a feeling that is somewhat indescribable, but undoubtedly positive. I will never stop watching this video. Rest in Peace Jesse.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, Jess ... Your laugh still rings in my heart. Your natural music & comedic talents I was truly fortunate to be part of from the day you were born. If there's somewhere in the great afterlife you're able to see this -- know that you made me proud and I still hear your voice, always cheery saying, 'Hey, Uncle Dane ..!' Take care of your Dad and Jasper & Molly for us ... as we'll all be there soon enough -- laughing and scratching with the Bubba-Dogs ..... Your 30th Birthday is coming up on the 6th of November ... and your Gramma & I will each sing you a Happy Birthday. We miss you, Jess. With love & redemption, Uncle Dane
***** Jesse had been Bi-Polar ... and alas, it got the better of him in the day before his 27th birthday. If you know anyone who suffers from being Bi-Polar, please encourage them to seek proper medical attention and / or to stay on their medications. It comes down to the as-is chemicals in the brain needing the correct chemicals to cope and survive this horrible affliction. Thanks for your kind comments, D.A.
Amen to that, FloridasCracker ... and please make sure you tell anyone you know that has BI-POLAR DISEASE to SEEK MEDICAL HELP ... to STAY ON THEIR MEDICATIONS ... and STAY HEALTHY. Thanks for your comment -- albeit sad, but it happens / happened and we survivors must help others with it along the way. Silence can mean their very life. D.A.
Greg Korn Thank you, Greg ... I wish I could take credit for his talents -- but Jesse Alister Morris was a born musician -- and mimic. If anything, he thought I was the funniest person he ever knew ... so I could say 'Fart' or any number of little boy funny things from the time when he first learned to talk til his last days -- and he'd be doubled over laughing. I guess it helps to be his Uncle that he knew from day one onwards. Jesse loved anything creative and especially he loved singing with others. I once found him one school night at age 7-ish singing his little heart out of some Credence Clearwater Revival song with a Hippie Chick on the 'Plaza' in Ashland, Oregon. He was as happy as can be and I felt a tad guilty for putting the breaks to it ... but it was a school night and he was out by himself. So I took him home and I'm sure it just made him want to perform that much more. Watching the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary last week caused me some sadness because Jesse was just the right kind of natural comic / singer that he'd of been tapped to perform on the show. He was that good -- that funny -- that talented. Thanks again for your kind comment, Mr. Korn ... it shown a bright light on my nephew and he deserves it most certainly. D.A.
MeBeTheDB sir, I found out about jesse about a month or so before he left the planet and from the first time I heard his voice and guitar pickin I knew what a killer talent that boy had. im 32 and have a 26 year old brother who suffers from part of the same sickness and then some, but he loves music and is a big country as well as old rock and punk and when I showed him this video he really dug it... needless to say the short time later when jesse took his final ride and I told my brother it hurt em. he kinda looks like him and I somehow feel like he took a liking as such as they were/are kinda alike. kindred spirits kinda thing. but man I wont take ya time up anymore but this man that plays this amazing music will be played as long as me and my brother are breathing. thanks my friend, if you read this and if not just know that your relative has helped another boy in need and he feels the pain
I think he related to the song. I think that is what helps it be. Perfect 👌❤️. Listening to the original and I think you right. You can feel the pain ( Love ) in Jessie's voice more. He is really singing from that place, if that makes any sense to anyone 🤔This really is pretty freakin amazing 😎👍😎
To me, Johnny Cash sings it like a man who is reflecting on a bad time that he has come out of stronger and better than before. This man sings it like a man who is still in that time, still living it, that’s the difference I get
I just want to say that I think of this man every once in a while. A few months go by and he'll just cross my mind. I definitely think of him everytime this song comes on my Pandora radio. Though I've never met this man. He did touch my heart with this song. It's so very sad he is no longer with us. We were truly blessed with his song and his spirit. May it forever live on in this video. Cheers.

Jesse, I love listening to your version of this. I'm sitting here having a hot beer for breakfast and may have one more if the ol lady ain't up before then! I just wish you were here to make a high - res version of this. rest in peace
i just herd him today and it 2/4/2023, i wonder what did him in? he was awesome at the level of the street and could of been much more but as many talented people just never get picked up in the right cue or have the duration to persue it as needed to ride the surf. he sure did some interesting stuff. i am familure with people not giving credit or they love if your a juke box of crap that you yourself hate like when he got that request for beatles and just made fun of it. i liked that about him.i tried to have a band a few times and played out most when i was in a cover band that did the lounge lizard stuff. it was good for learning the band road and equipment but was a sickening parrots job.
@@markbiggs1961 Seeing that he asked, "Anybody got a joint" in the middle of the song, I assume he died of depression and perhaps drug abuse. What a great musician. I can feel his charisma through the screen, and that's rare for me.
The talent of this guy is something else! I have been visiting and showing this video every chance i get. Infact my daughter grew up on this video and still loves it. It hurts me that he isn't around to hear all the good things people say about him. Rest in peace my friend.......
I stumbled upon this cover a few years ago and every now and then I come back just to listen and watch you play. I never met you in person Jesse but I never forget you
I never met Jesse. I actually didn't know about him before today. Would be a RUclips or a subway, I will always stop to listen that dude with pink hair and tattoos and a cutoff studded vest and hear what he's playing. I woke up on a Saturday with Sunday morning coming down stuck in my head. That's how I found Jesse today. I'm extremely impressed at how he evokes Johnny Cash so well that my girlfriend said to me condescendingly "darling, he's lip syncing". "Just keep watching," I said. To know of Jesse only briefly before learning that he's passed, and how he passed, leaves me surprisingly heartbroken. I love goes out to his relatives, his friends, his fans, and his spirit wherever it may be. I'm going to do what I can to help commemorate him by playing the song on a Los Angeles radio station called KXLU 88.9 FM during my show. I'm going to talk about Jesse, I'm going to help other people learn about him too.
This man was true raw talent. Remember hes singing unplugged and in my opinion he has a lovely richer tone than the master himself plugged in. No disrespect to the legend Johnny cash he was a true legend. But this man was highly talented. sad to think he was born 4 years after me and he died in 2011 only 26. God rest his soul.
I’m Sitting here now.. 10:47 pm.. a broken man... it’s not the end of the world, I know that. But it can feel like that at times There’s something about this rendition.. this mans soul..that’s keeping me together
I always give people that perform on the street the attention I feel they deserve. So many walk past, but if I come across them you’ll see me standing there with them enjoying their performance, giving them the praise they deserve once it’s over. I was in San Diego several months ago on the boardwalk, there was a woman playing violin. She looked so sad, but she was playing something so beautiful. I stood there across the way, we made eye contact, never spoke a word, but I stood and listened. I have no idea what she was playing but I wish I could hear it again, and I hope she’s doing well
He is the best Cash-imitation I have ever heard, no competition. What a fantastic voice! Too bad this person passed away at such an early age. What a champion!
When i decided to add Johnny Cash songs to my shows i learnt from jesse the phrasing and emotions from his covering JC and it might sound strange but i believe Jesse is chanelling Cash here from another dimension..Jesse puts vibrato even more than Cash and its kinda supernatural how Jesse performed this song in this clip..pure magic and a great inspiration to me, R.I.P Jesse
I was reading the comments and saddened to read, this chap passed away in 2016 😪 It explains the draw he has about him, for not only can he sing and play like an Angel of the Highway Men, He is one. Absolutely Brilliant version 👏🙏❤
I'm just jealous that you and Johnny Cash get to play in heaven and we don't get to hear it till we all get there and tap our toes to the great tunes you guys play . We miss you Jesse and love you . RIP
This song reminds me of when I was a kid; early 1950's; the old man might go into downtown Detroit and bring me along. I remember the smells of stale beer and cigar smoke... What a lonesome memory.
Met this cat as a young kid who was and still is obsessed with outcasted music. God damn was he amazing. It’s almost shameful the amount of beauty that comes from so much pain.
This kid, for a better lack of words... Jesse Morris. Never knew ya, heard about ya, or met you. But you are the embodiment and true story of this song to me, that you sadly can never tell us ever again. But you live on for the rest of us who try and find our way through the chapters in this book we call life. Rest easy brother.
I wish I could've met and jammed with this kat. His eyes seemed so empty and lonely as he would look at the camera, but, yet, he filled my heart with that voice full of love for music. You are in eternal peace. No more pain and no more demons. You are good now brotherman and yet, I still wept watching this and learning about your departure from humanity. R.i.P. ❤
Stumbled upon this performance and was awestruck, then to read below that he's passed. I can't believe how saddened i am. Well, i never knew ya jesse but i'll be a fan for as long as i'm around. Thanks.
I just discovered this guy but my joy quickly turned to sadness after reading the comments and finding out he is gone. I too listen to this about once a day. RIP sir......

Jesse, I love listening to your version of this. I'm sitting here having a hot beer for breakfast and may have one more if the ol lady ain't up before then! I just wish you were here to make a high - res version of this. rest in peace
it makes me sad to know that i’m only just hearing this man’s awesome voice in 2019 just to find out he’s passed 😔
Perhaps, Jess has already reincarnated as another singer ... and we shall soon see him knocking the roof of some opera house or the like.
@@MeBeTheDB Deincarnated as Johnny Cash
i just herd him today and it 2/4/2023, i wonder what did him in? he was awesome at the level of the street and could of been much more but as many talented people just never get picked up in the right cue or have the duration to persue it as needed to ride the surf. he sure did some interesting stuff. i am familure with people not giving credit or they love if your a juke box of crap that you yourself hate like when he got that request for beatles and just made fun of it. i liked that about him.i tried to have a band a few times and played out most when i was in a cover band that did the lounge lizard stuff. it was good for learning the band road and equipment but was a sickening parrots job.
@@markbiggs1961 Seeing that he asked, "Anybody got a joint" in the middle of the song, I assume he died of depression and perhaps drug abuse. What a great musician. I can feel his charisma through the screen, and that's rare for me.
I'm here every sunday to listen to Jesse sing this song. Outstanding performance in my book!!!
I never met you in person Jesse but I never forget you
Listening again after four years
This never gets old, miss you so much my friend.
‘Bye Mom” hit the hardest ❤
*What an amazing talent, rest in peace*
This the TSA?
He is not dead you gum skull
@@peterward9995 ????
@@peterward9995 dude has been dead for a few yrs...
You mean Johnny Cash?
Happy Heavenly Birthday young man. I never knew you, but I miss you.
You will be remembered till the end of time.
That "hi mom" at the end really puts a lump in your throat
CAP
He's sharing a 6 pack with Mr.Cash up in the clouds
Likely a 6 Pack of Water ... as Jesse didn't drink booze. But it's the thought that counts, good Robert, right-?
Still hits (and I was there at the start), I will keep coming back until I can’t
I come here a few times a month to listen to Jesse been doing it for several years
He should've received a standing ovation after this performance...RIP
This man was true raw talent. Remember hes singing unplugged and in my opinion he has a lovely richer tone than the master himself plugged in. No disrespect to the legend Johnny cash he was a true legend. But this man was highly talented. sad to think he was born 4 years after me and he died in 2011 only 26. God rest his soul.
I’m Sitting here now.. 10:47 pm.. a broken man... it’s not the end of the world, I know that. But it can feel like that at times
There’s something about this rendition.. this mans soul..that’s keeping me together
Kevin Roseberry keep your head up man, sending good vibes from SF.
It gets better man. From a fellow broken man all the way from India.
You're spot on about his rendition.
We Still love you in 2021. Even though you may not be around, we still respect you, and we miss you brother.
This beers for you Jesse... You'll live forever here.
Had I been there I would have been clapping and shouting like hell after hearing such a performance! What talent!
R.I.P.
I have no idea what she was playing but I wish I could hear it again, and I hope she’s doing well
If you close your eyes you can just picture Johnny singing perfectly because he sounds like him so much.
He is the best Cash-imitation I have ever heard, no competition. What a fantastic voice! Too bad this person passed away at such an early age. What a champion!
Jesse is a legend, and still listen to this on the regular. Hope he found peace.
An amazing talent...robbed of amazing success
When i decided to add Johnny Cash songs to my shows i learnt from jesse the phrasing and emotions from his covering JC and it might sound strange but i believe Jesse is chanelling Cash here from another dimension..Jesse puts vibrato even more than Cash and its kinda supernatural how Jesse performed this song in this clip..pure magic and a great inspiration to me, R.I.P Jesse
RIP beautiful person.
I was reading the comments and saddened to read, this chap passed away in 2016 😪 It explains the draw he has about him, for not only can he sing and play like an Angel of the Highway Men, He is one. Absolutely Brilliant version 👏🙏❤
2024 and still making me cry
Rip jesse.you had it man
Like fine wine, only gets better with age. rip Mr. Jesse Morris.
Edit: The last part always gets me, "hi mom".
tears me up every time, I say hi to my Mom at the same time.
Same.
9/4/24 in still here watching to
10/10. What a cover!
Many years ago but I always revisit rest in peace
Still remembering you in 2024, Jesse. ❤
Stumbled upon this performance and was awestruck, then to read below that he's passed. I can't believe how saddened i am. Well, i never knew ya jesse but i'll be a fan for as long as i'm around. Thanks.
I know you're gone and I don't know you but I'm sure as hell gonna meet you in the next life and have a beer with ya.
Frank Flowers I like that idea. Right on brother.
I'll join ya
I'll get us all a round!
Count me in as well.
Have this on repeat. So bittersweet.
Merry Christmas Jesse RIP 😢
This is stellar!
I just discovered this guy but my joy quickly turned to sadness after reading the comments and finding out he is gone. I too listen to this about once a day. RIP sir......
He mattered. Great voice. Your missed bud.
This still gives me chill bumps. Been watching it for almost 8 years. It makes me a bit sad but music that touches the heart is what true artistry is all about.
That "hi mom" at the end gets me every time
2023 on a Sunday morning and this version is just as awesome as the first time I viewed it.
I've just witnessed one of the greatest entertainers of my life and he's already dead 😭😭😭
