    VEP7 is definitely powerful and the ability to load 3rd party plugins makes it even more powerful to offload effects processing from my main DAW on a different computer if I am understanding that correctly. If that is the case, I may need to invest in another iLok USB key to allow me to use some of my 3rd party plugins on my slave machine without having to pay double for the same plugin (only where the plugin company offers more than 1 license to activate).
    The Learn function has me intrigued. I'll have to test this with my Novation Launch Control XL to see if I can map instrument parameters with it.

    I put every Library in seperate instances and load when needed. Never have to change my template in my DAW again (unless I get a new library, I just add it to VEP, without having to worry about resources on my DAW's computer). Especially now that Babylonwaves has great kontakt snaphots and expression maps and soundvariations (for Studio one) makes for the fastest setup possible.

    I recently purchased VE Pro 7, but the manual is written in a terribly non-teacherly manner for such a complex piece of software. I have zero use for hundreds of suggestions, one after another, as to what I can do with it when I don't even know where to start. Would it be too much to ask for a long and detailed but VERY CLEAR step-by-step video tutorial about how to create a basic orchestral setup for use in a DAW?

      Hi Carl, we are working on improving documentation and manuals constantly. I would recommend to check out this playlist: ruclips.net/p/PLC5G55FKmpIF4UbbGGHv5t1Y2jjHZKJvt
      Our online manual: www.vsl.info/manuals/vep7/welcome
      And there are also videos from other RUclipsrs out there, including complete template setup walktroughs. Still, if a question pops up and you don't find the answere please contact us via support@vsl.co.at !

      the same here Carl... purchased VE Pro7, but don't know how to start, how to open some instrument... After I get it (no videos explain that), now I don't get any sound. I try to play on my midi keyboard, but nothing come out. So difficult to understand the VE Pro7... And no beginner tutorial from VE Pro.... You are right that VERY CLEAR step-by-step video tutorial is needed!

    Hello, Thank you for this walkthrough. How do you change from Balance to Panning? On Logic you right click in the mixer window to change this setting so you can pan right and left is there a settings button to do this?

    Is anyone using Halion 7 with VEP? In its standalone version there is no issue, but using it with VEP it is always claiming missing samples even if they are located where they should be, and over 42 instances of Halion in VEP, the Steinberg plug in starts to loose its saved configurations. Is it because we work on Apple M2 machines?

    Hard to find answer for a very important question for realistic ensemble group sections and preventing phases (all forum discussions still left me clueless): If I play a chord of 3 notes in a violin orchestra ensemble group preset loaded (VI series), how many violins play each note then? It should NOT be 3 x 14. I thought it could be managed via the slot editor but I found no good source to understand a "slot" and what the horizontal numbers (columns) refer to, to make sure that I do not double the section by playing more then one note or to accidently thin out by playing only one note. (divisi management still a miracle here) ... Apart from that I would like to know if there is something like a 2nd section available to create a bigger orchestra with bigger string sections but different samples (to prevent phasing).

    Do slave machines require their own LCD display, or does everything show up on the master computers LCD?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  4 года назад

      If you don't work on the networked machine directly you should use a remote desktop solution or the VM1 remote app.

      @@ViennaSymphonicLibrary I don't understand your answer, I have a Mac-mini as my main computer, and a PC as a slave, should I use two different screens or can everything be read on the screen of my Mac-mini?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  4 года назад +1

      @@stantchev1 You can use two screens, yes - but the easier solution might be so-called remote desktop software that allows you to to see the desktop of your other computer at the same time. We use AnyDesk and it's free for personal use.

    Okay, I am trying to make sense of it. V Pro is just another hosting software inside my DAW to save CPU and RAM?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  3 года назад

      Hi Joel, VE Pro is a hosting software OUTSIDE your DAW, which can run on the same computer or on any other computer in your network. Main feature: You can keep your templates loaded and switch super-fast between cues. Check it out with a free key-less demo license, available on the product page! Paul

    Forgive me for a basic question. I'm planning to build a slave pc rig with all sample libraries connected to my master MacBook Pro mid 2012. Does the PC rig need to be on always for me to quickly access the sample libraries? Even when I switch off my laptop, the slave machine needs to be on?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  3 года назад +1

      Hi! I'm not sure I understand this question correctly. But in general, only active computers will be accessible. However, when you switch the main computer off, you can also switch off the PC, if you like. Many professionals keep it running, to have their template loaded and ready to go. Paul

    1. What is the difference between saving instances and saving projects?
    2. I got mixed up with the different applications like server, 32bit, 64bit....

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  2 года назад

      Hi,
      1) An INSTANCE is a part of VE Pro, one "window" or "tile", if you like. A SERVER PROJECT contains everything saved with VE Pro, including multiple instances.
      2) 32/64 bit are software architectures. 90% of all applications are 64 bit nowadays. A server is an application that runs on its own.

    Is Vienna Pro a DAW? An one more question can you upload libraries from Native Instrument?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  3 года назад

      Vienna Ensemble Pro is a host, and yes you can load Kontakt in it. But it is noty a DAW, but rather you connect your DAW to VEP7. This way you don't have to unload instruments when switching projects, and you can also easily load/unload instruments to free RAM. Also, you can run it over the network to unload the computation to a different machine. - Ben

    Thank you for this walkthrough. I’m having trouble getting sound out of different channels though. So I loaded three instruments in an instance on my vepro server, and followed the routing you have here but I’m only getting sound from my first instrument (which is routed to channel 1) while every time I try to play an instrument on other channels, all that shows up is the little green light on the instrument track on the server which I’m guessing shows that I’m receiving some signal, but still no audio. I’m using Logic Pro. Any suggestions?

    • @ViennaSymphonicLibrary
      @ViennaSymphonicLibrary  4 года назад

      If you are not routing it back to the main output, make sure to enable the used audio outputs in your DAW. Also check if the signal arrives in the player.

      Vienna Symphonic Library so when I change all of my midi channels to 1, that’s when they all play, but when I change the midi channels to their individual channels, that’s when they don’t play. It looks like I’m receiving signal, because the green light on the instrument track on the server still lights up
