  • On April 2, #MDFR was presented with a plaque by the Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) for achieving a Class 1 Public Protection Classification (PPC), the highest rating for a fire department to obtain. Joining MDFR in this recognition were Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, members of Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners and Miami-Dade Chief of Public Safety James Reyes.
MDFR is the first fire department in the country with a response territory exceeding 1,000 square miles and serving a population of over one million to reach this milestone. This places MDFR among the top one percent of fire agencies nationwide, alongside fewer than 500 departments out of over 38,000.
This rating can potentially have a significant impact on fire insurance premiums for properties in our area, ensuring reduced premiums and upholding superior services for residents, businesses, and visitors during emergency situations in Miami-Dade County.
