Love my shocker hitch. Have had mine for about 15 years. Used it daily for about 10 years hauling large trailers. Mine was the 2 1/2" receiver hitch setup. Its great because when you air it up to the bumps every 10psi ='s 100 lbs tongue wieght. So I was always able to know how much tongue wieght I had. Great buy especially compared to other air hitches. I even had my green urethane bumps melt after about 10 years in Florida sun, and I emailed shocker to buy replacements and they apologized and sent me new ones free. Great customer service, great hitch.
When you said “I’ll take you back in the cab with me” I shed a small tear. Something about hearing that truck from the outside is so much sweeter than in the cab. Still sounds good either way!
I have air ride for my truck and I'm so glad I spent the extra to have the remote control for it. I'm always adjusting the air when changing between 5 different trailers.
I just added an airlift wireless one compressor with a remote onto my flatbed trailer just for my shocker hitch... now I can adjust the air in the hitch without stoping. Thanks for the idea in your video. I'm pulling a 36' Pj hydraulic dove tail behind a 14' 3500.
Stumbled on your channel this morning. Thanks for the demo of that shocker hitch. You did a great job of with video and audio. I have two goose necks similar to yours that I pull with F-350 diesel. We pull max load of 26,000 and I have lost all the fillings in my teeth. Can’t wait to get one of these. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.
I run a Cody hitch on my gooseneck, stays with truck as I have 3 gooseneck trailers. Love it, and I have a shocker hitch for my bumper pull trailers. Love them both and on board air is a must. Love the channel!
I like that Camera angle for the microphone in the go pro. Lets us hear that wonderful Cummins sound :D I was on a bike ride the other day and listening all the 12v cummins trucks around here was great music to the ears.
Damn Sam just the other day you were talking about one of these and now here you are. Crazy how you can actually SEE it absorb the shock in the GoPro footage.
Love the intro " WE NEED MORE OUTLAWS" So nice listening on the bed, good product review, I'm with Too Tall plum the line with quick disconnect kinda like a glad hand and button/controller in cab
Ok , now let’s see a gen-y review, 100% unbiased review This shocker looks really good, and I agree a plumbing kit with a remote would be awesome I know how I would set that plumbing up , I bet shocker already has a patent on a system ( there is a compression compensating modulater on a TFL truck trailer review) I sure as hell wish I had a shocker hitch, when I was driving on rough corrugated ranch roads and even crappy state high way roads like New Mexico
Man -I do like the way your shift that truck. Smooooth and no over or under reving. Kinda like you mean to keep it. I always accelerate slow and easy, no rush, and have everybody around me act like it's a drag race. I want my 145k Dodge to go 1+ million also. Congrates! You got my vote Brother. That Squish hitch seems like to "top Banana!!"
Sam you should hook up in cab air gauge with adjustment switch so you can adjust the air pressure on it while you're driving to make it just where you want it.
They sell kits for it, a compressor and tank basically and i'd assume a sensor for the psi in the tank so the compressor isn't always on, shouldn't be too bad to install one of those kits.
you can get clip on tire fill ends for air lines. thread that onto a coiled hose to a quick disconnect on the bed deck some where on the back or on the back and you're good. hit me up if you need a walk through. have seen guys do that around here.
I don’t know about the gen-y hitch , I just watched a video with two guy trying to wrestle one on a horse trailer “ it didn’t look very fun due to the weight “ maybe once it’s mounted, it’s fine, I would love to see a unbiased review
An unbiased opinion is also what I am after. If I see a clearly biased review I am turned away from a product. Install is not a problem for me its nice to undestand install will be difficult. I am looking for the long term benefits. My favorite reviews are the ones from 6 months to a year after install.
I Love mine as well ..... I hauled a lot of containers and took a lot of the recoil out for me as well.....next air ride on the truck then my Gooseneck
For the auto fill from the cab for your shocker hitch you could ziptie air hose to the 7 pin wiring to run up to the hitch and put a quick connect by the 7 pin connector at the bumper of the truck then just leave the hose with the trailer and connect the air to the bumper when you need it.
It really needs a constant air supply and leveling valve that big trucks have on the cab and axle bags and you won't have to keep screwing with it. The leveling bar once adjusted right will keep it adjusted accordingly.
You want your 5500 to ride nicer? Put a Kelderman 4 bag system on the rear axle. I have the self leveling system on my 5500. It ride almost a nice unloaded as it does loaded. Rides better than all my old trucks even the 3/4 ton. No issues with the system either. I did my 1st big trip by doing 500+ miles in Death Valley. More than 1/2 of that was off road.
I just bought a hydraulic tail trailer. Just about beat me to death on the way home from dealership. The tail would bounce when I hit a bump. With the safety stops in I power the tail down with the hydraulics and it made it a much better ride.
It's a 30' BWise trailer. Salesman said the new owners bought Bri Mar trailers and both or made in same facility in Pennsylvania. Didn't realize this post was a couple of years old.
Take and run air line down the electrical cord, plumb a port near the trailer plug and you could run one of those adjustable toggles like the diamond C dude was talkin bout
I laughed when I saw the level of deflection on that hitch "Yah, its not going to last long at 15 PSI." How did it do with and empty trailer and the hitch at 50 PSI? The airbag looks like what would be on the cab of a tractor trailer too.
In cab control is easy, single way in cab control for airbags run the line to the hitch well in the bed put a air chuck on it .use a class8 fifthwheel airslide release hose from the airbag. Also put your 7way in the hole that's provided in the well and get that ugly line off the deck
So you have air bags on the suspension of the truck? I have it on my dodge 3500. 35-50psi is the sweet spot loaded! You will spill your sweet tea empty! Love the channel!
I use a low pressure high flow regulator in my cab for my on the fly onboard air adjustment of my airbags. You could do the same with the Shocker. A quick disconnect near the hitch area on the flatbed. Or put a sticker in the cab of each piece of equipment with the proper Shocker pressure. That way when you load it you have the number right there. Load and pressurize.
@@deerepower337 I use the adjustment for varying road conditions on the fly. Height is very problematic when unloaded or loaded with a weight distributing hitch. The rear must sag to make the bars transfer weight to the front of the truck.
@@UNDISPUTEDUZBEK I agree with Sam. Depends on your setup. With Sam's big gooseneck the gen-y works perfect. My setup with diff loads during the year the shocker works for me 👍
Just curious, do you use your clutch while shifting through the gears on any of your trucks? Wouldn't it be worth while for you to install in cab air pressure gage, to make it easier to adjust on the fly. I have air ride rear suspension as well!
Great idea with an in cab air management for your fifth wheel and couldn’t find anything online with that idea? So after little bit more homework just go to eBay and search for 2 sensor digital air pressure gauges. I found several of them just under $50 with the sensors and the next thing you would need is a couple electronic dump valves for air. Again searching on eBay is many different options for under $20 unless you want to spend a little bit more of something you know about. Where the air fitting is on top of the bag I would put a 90° elbow to a small ball valve so you can disconnect the trailer with the bag still inflated. From that valve some kind of flexible tubing that can hold up to the weather conditions and wear and tear? Into the first T fitting for a dump valve for the purpose of deflating the bag and then into another T fitting for the pressure sensor. The final T fitting would be for your refill valve from your air supply . The second pressure sensor could be for your main air source tank? I think with all the fittings and everything you should build the do it for about $100 or so? With the digital air pressure gauge it would save you on running an airline all away to the cab. One toggle switch to turn that system on and a second toggle switch for inflating and deflating the bag. I’ve seen many air rights systems on vehicles and this is not much different than that good luck and this is only an idea which I think is a good one and thanks for another great video.
Do you still manual fill/purge the bag every time you haul something different, or did you end up just putting a quick coupler on it and leaving it hooked up?
Man your 5500 🤩 is awesome, that air bag too. Would it be a bad idea if you put like a cover on the air bag, as dust, rain, cold and heat won’t damage it
