When I was in music school years ago in what seems like another life, a top student played it perfectly. Henryk Szeryng was visiting that day. Once the kid finished he grabbed the violin with a cigarette hanging from his mouth, said he hadn't played it in years, told the pianist to double the tempo and shot the entire work from memory all the while not letting an ash fall from his cigarette. It was an influential day that inspired me to study accounting instead.
