- So the Harry Potter reboot has been officially announced. Last week I was wondering which version of the castle they might use for it, would they use a version of the castle from the original films or would they go in a new direction? Well it looks like we’ve got our answer. And it’s the movie version. Unless Warner Brothers were just hastily re-using assets in a last minute announcement, but that definitely wouldn’t be the case right, they’ve never done that before…
What’s interesting though is they are specifically using the version of the castle from Deathly Hallows, complete with it’s viaduct.
In this video me and a friend will dive into the history of the Deathly Hallows version of the castle, why it’s shunned by fans and why it’s now returning for the Harry Potter series.
Thank you for watching this video! If you like my content and want to support my channel, please consider buying me a coffee on Ko-Fi. ☕
The easiest thing to do would just to use the Hogwarts Legacy version and make it the definitive version.
I hope they use the Hogwarts Legacy Version of Hogwarts.
Never bring back David Yates pls
I think it is okay that a magical castle changes over time according to the needs and wants of those in control of it. If you are at war, then you probably want to make it easier to defend, and harder to attack, but at times of peace, you probably want to make it more convenient for students to get to class on time.
your theorizing about Dumbledore getting rid of the bridge etc. was the best thing I've heard all month lol. headcanon accepted
I’d be considerably less interested in the new series if they use any visual design from the original films. I love the films, but that’s all the more reason to start fresh and give us something different! Give us a book-accurate Hogwarts with a large entrance hall leading directly to the grounds.
i really hope they use the Hogwarts Legacy Castle
Why does a student body of like, 200 to 500, need a castle that big?
When you said "I'm sure that is interesting to all our audience" in a sarcastic tone or voice I was a little confused. Yes! It is indeed interesting to me. Why else would I click on the video? :D
Honestly, I don’t think the changes are cannon in universe. Each director changed it to tell the story as they saw fit, disregarding continuity. As far as the characters are concerned, the castle they left at the end of DH is the same walked into for the first time in TPS. I also hope go all new for the show.
I hate nothing more in life… than that wretched Deathly Hallows viaduct 👺
Some things to note though:
Here is one little detail that only recently struck me when I was playing Hogwarts Legacy. The orientation of the clocktower. For a moment think of it. The face of the clock does not direct towards the castle itself. People in the other towers can't look out their window and see the clock, and thus know the time. The only people who can see the face are literally in the clocktower courtyard or towards Hagrid's hut.
An Hogwarts expert would know the entrance courtyard was added in GoF and that the viaduct was already present in PS 😏
It’s amazing that Central Tower was completely blown up, almost not existing
100% agree! Should have stuck with the Half-Blood Prince version of the castle!
The show is just barely in pre-production though.
I really hope there's a new castle. I love the movie design, but it doesn't really work with the story in the books.
Another thing is that new homogenous staircase that is shown during the battle and a few other times through deathly hallows part 2 makes no sense... since it is so long and is shown to be the grand staircase...? Even though the grand staircase is a circular tower...
