Nicely done! I thought about doing this but didn't know how to resolve the mounting issue. Your 3D printed thingies are a very elegant solution. I would buy those if you sold them. Edit 1: About the puffy batteries; 10 minutes is probably too long to fly on those 2200's. It is not good for them to be discharged to the point that they get hot. Don't let LVC (Low Voltage Cutoff) tell you when it's time to land. I have a similar plane and go 6 minutes with a few minutes to spare in case of mandatory go-arounds. Edit 2: I sub'd even if this is the only contribution you make to the RC airplane community. VERY COOL!
Thanks for subbing and watching! Glad to have you! I typically would never let lvc tell me when to land but I got carried away on that flight and used way more throttle than usual so my timer was off lol. Im usually very nice to my batteries!
Finally someone else thought of this 😂 I've been thinking of doing this for years just couldn't justify the weight. I considered doing race buggy tires on purposely small rims to help get them to be round like bush tires and have sticky rubber without big meaty tread.
haha noice! 1/24 crawler wheels are the same diameter as the the timber x i have, lol, even had me wondering how small a brushless motor would work and put motors in the hubs of them lol

Great idea. I want to replace the hard bouncy wheels on my Kingfisher. I should go grab some monster truck wheels.

Oh that’s a great idea! I want to try that now. Have the wheel power maybe controlled on a switch mechanism so it can freewheel in airplane mode.
