For those who don't know:
The DenpaMen game is actually the 4th in the series, the original trilogy was for the 3DS, it's biggest gimmick is that the DenpaMen live in radio waves, so you need to be near wi-fi connections to find them, and if you lose any, you can go to the place where you find it originally and recatch it if you want.
Each Denpamen has different stats depending on their size, head shape, body color, etc, and each game added more customization options and a larger world to explore.

I really hope Stephen and Mal do an LP of the Zelda game. Mal looked very amused when she saw Zelda making multiple tables, and I just wanna see the chaos they would create with that copy mechanic. 😆

I'm like 99% sure that the collection is the first time that most of those Marvel VS Capcom games have been released in forever. Maxamillian Dood, a very prominent Fighting Game streamer, had a Save MVC2 campaign a few years ago to try and get Capcom to rerelease them, and as far as he could figure it was next to impossible. So seeing those games just casually announced was kinda crazy lol.
Yeah, the moment I saw this announcement, I thought of Max. MvC2 online officially after so many years is awesome.

Capcom’s been renewing the MvC2 license for a while now but exclusively for the arcade machines. Makes me wonder why if they could have done the same for the console versions since at least the Capcom Fighting Game/Arcade collections wait until now unless maybe another MvC is in the works, not to mention the MvC channel is now back and active after all of its social media pages went inactive for so long. Either way, I’m glad it’s now been freed for consoles everywhere and complete with rollback.

Ace Attorney Investigations 2 getting an official localization still has me reeling, I'm looking forward to it so much.

So hyped for the Edgeworth Investigations Collection! I NEVER thought we would get the 2nd game here! I played through the fan translation but I’ll happily play the official version! Other games I’m excited for are the new Mario and Luigi and the new Mario Party.
Same here! Played the fan translations, but I would also gladly play it again. And with improved graphics and animations?! Super psyched! The storyline of the Investigations series is amazing 👏
This was prolly one of my most hyped directs in a while. Mario & Luigi my childhood is back and Prime 4 is finally a fucking thing. Mario Party Jamboree looks cool. The game from the Danganronpa guys looks cool. The new Zelda game. Just so many things got me hype
Entirely up to you, but personally I'd say it *is* worth playing the Metroid 1 and 2 remakes. They're different enough that it's not going to be a lot of rehashing prior content.
I highly recommend taking a look at the Ace Attorney games, they're very good and the first three are not that long either.
EDIT: Apparently I completely misremembered how long they are. E.g. first game is apparently 18 hours, not 8
I also recommend them, but they are not that short, especially at the pace Stephen and Mal typically play (and knowing Stephen’s track record with puzzles)

Denpa Men is another series originally left on 3DS. It was mostly an AR gimmick (find these dudes around your house and recruit them!), so it's nice to see they weren't forgotten. By Nintendo at least XD
Marvel vs Capcom 2 was trapped in licensing hell since 2013; after Disney bought Marvel in 2009 (like, RIGHT after the 360/PS3 ports released, which were delisted in 2013), the MVC franchise in general has... let's say struggled. So it's good to finally see an old friend back in MVC2.
Now I'm just waiting for Capcom to bring my beloved Capcom vs SNK back... but i'm not holding my breath lol
Also, PRIME 4 FINALLY LIVES. I'M SO READY.
Considering who's coming in SF6 Season 2, I'd say it's more likely gonna happen.

Every time a seemingly impossible localization becomes true, my hope for an official Mother 3 translation burns a little brighter. Ace Attorney Investigations 2 being released outside of Japan is a huge deal, and makes me all the more excited for all the improbable translations yet to come.

ZELDAS ADVENTURE
The ace attorney investigations fans are popping the biggest bottles right now.
I'm glad more people are going to be able to play them! And actually experience aai2!! I'm so happy.
Prime 4 is 100% going to be a game that ends up launching at the same time as their new console. It's had such a massive amount of hype drummed up about over the last 7 years that it's easily the most anticipated new release Nintendo has. Simultaneously launching it on Switch + New Console in the same vein as Breath of the Wild makes perfect sense. Also that game is just REALLY good looking graphically. A little too good looking for it to be running on a Switch, even if it is a dev kit.
To answer your question, Fairy Tail has 9 seasons. 328 episodes in total. There's also the manga which has the ending/final arc that was never put into the anime (far as I know).

I didn't even know there was a direct until like 5 minutes before it began, and now we're getting a new Mario & Luigi, Darkest Dungeon 2 on switch, remakes of the first 3 DQs, a Zelda game, and Metroid Prime 4. Wild.

I am glad to know that I am not the only one that forgot about Nintendo Switch Sports.
For real, it's kinda sad that _Switch Sports_ never gained the notoriety of _Wii Sports / Resort_ . Bundling games with consoles aside, I guess those Mii-like avatar replacements weren't anywhere as memorable.
Still wish Stephen and Mal (and Friends?) would give Switch Sports a showcase sometime, because it is still a fun casual experience.
Even though we may have not had a playable Zelda in Tears of the Kingdom and see more of her journey in the past, this REAVEL TRAILER MAKES ME SCREAM OUT IN EXCITEMENT!!!
The 3 games that were announced today that I’m looking forward to playing are The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Mario & Luigi: Brothership. I think Echoes of Wisdom should go to the Fallen Hero Timeline (taking place between A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds; I don’t know where to place it around Link’s Awakening and the Oracle series).
Definitely the Fallen Hero Timeline. But I couldn’t help noticing that there were peaceful Zora as well as hostile Zora in the trailer. Might I instead suggest that this game takes place between OoT and ALttP.

Stephen: it's the 30th anniversary of Mother 2, Donkey Kong Country, and Metroid. This probably means nothing for any of those games.

I can't believe this Direct came near the end of the Switch's life. There was so much!!
Mario & Luigi and Zelda both almost put me in tears. Mario Party is very exciting. AAI2 finally getting a release outside of Japan is pretty cool. Prime 4 finally getting a release window is big, especially considering the silence we have had on the development before now. That's probably my top five, in that order.

if I had to guess the 2025 release for metroid prime 4 is because it's gonna be a launch title for the switch 2, maybe the switch 1 gets it at like ultra low graphics but I assume they developed higher res textures for the switch 2

I get that they don't want Zelda to play exactly like Link, but I'd be more excited for Echoes of Widsom if she had a more direct method of self-defense, like a spell book or a magic bow or something.
I almost had a weird thought.... What if they call it Legend of Link because they let you rename Zelda? In my mind, that's why Legend of Zelda was never called Legend of Link in the first place, because Link was basically a nameless silent protagonist that they let you rename in the early days..... and pretty much all the way through Skyward Sword?
Since Zelda wields the Tri Rod, I hope Nintendo hasn’t forgotten her main weapon- her Bow of Light.

The denpa men was genuinely exciting for me because I had the demo for the first 3 games on 3DS and always wanted to play them (and now I am through cracking)

I was extremely excited about Ace Attorney, especially Investigations as that was one of my favourite games in the series. I'm excited about the new Zelda game as well and DK Country. The Mario and Lugi game looks freaking awesome, definitely one I will be playing.
Super excited about the new Zelda game! The LA remake was a sleeper favorite for me when it released and I love that they’re revisiting that art style with a brand new game.

You know, we may not have gotten a new DKC game, and I know Stephen’s disappointed in that.
But.
We can now say that the Nintendo Switch is the definitive way to play Donkey Kong Country, just as we can say it’s the definitive way to play the mainline numbered Metroid games (definitive in quotation marks depending on your feelings towards Metroid II vs. Samus Returns. We at least have two options for Metroid and Zero Mission). DKC1-3 are on the SNES. We already had Tropical Freeze, and now we’re getting Returns HD. Unless you count 64 as a DKC and won’t accept the series as being complete unless OG DKC for GB, the Land trilogy, and the Advance versions are on Switch, that’s all five DKCs in one convenient place, and it’s all portable too (since you only need an internet connection to start SNES online. Once it’s going, you can set it to airplane mode and still continue playing if you want).
It was a great Direct, personally I'd say even excellent thanks to the many surprises by both Nintendo and third parties, its structure and all of that considering that Switch 2 is being announced in less than a year.
Anyway, immediately thought of you two when Stray showed up and glad I'll finally be able to play it myself now that it's coming to Switch!

The new Link game because I loved Link's Awakening. So I was like "oh did they make a sequel?" but this is better. So much better. Looking forward to playing Stray and Donkey Kong Country Returns. I hope it doesn't trigger my motion sickness as bad as Tropical Freeze did.

Does anyone else feel like this wasn't a BIG direct? Like, the games were interesting and there were some new ones, but it doesn't feel like a BIG one. An E3 esque one, if you will.

Thanks for getting this up so quickly! It's interesting because I know of the Ace Attorney/RPG genre but not so much of the classic Nintendo titles. I laughed a lot during work oops. Ace Attorney release will be huge!!! So excited
Please play Zero Mission, it's one of my favorite Metroid games and it has a lot of content that wasn't in the original game, including items from Super Metroid! There's an entire epilogue (the titular Zero Mission) that in my opinion had a very big influence on Metroid Dread, which was the next 2D Metroid after Zero Mission. If you're trying to track the progression of gameplay and story in the series, Zero Mission is essential.
I wish gaming companies could allow people to trade in their old gaming consoles for a discount on the newest latest console.
I'm certain many people are excited about the Zelda game. But I didn't play any of the Hyrule calamity games, went straight into BotW. Since I'm more excited about combat, I'm not gonna play it. I've played as Female characters in Skyrim, and Fallout 4, before.

A significant part of M&L's challenge and charm is controlling two characters at the same time. Splitting them up would not only make the game too easy to control, not only tedious for how many times the characters have to merge together, but also incredibly boring because each player only gets one button for most of the game. Also, "Superstar Saga" did not have multiplayer. That option was just for the "Mario Bros. Arcade" game that came bundled with practically every Mario GBA title.

The new Zelda is absolutely my biggest bit of excitement from the Direct. Also really looking forward to a new Mario & Luigi, and I'm always down for some Mario Party. Prime 4 is neat, and I did really enjoy 3, but it's less immediate.
