Those last 40 seconds or so are absolutely true. There are three key points.
-I don't always get in trouble when I drink, but every time I get into trouble I've been drinking.
-Strip yourself of the vices in life to keep a clear head.
-Get yourself right because it isn't all about you. Think about those who love and depend on you.
If you're young out there, or any age for that matter, listen to this man. He's an old soul, he has wisdom and he's willing to take time out of his day to try and make others better.
Wise counsel.
Alcohol has changed the course of life for countless people and never for the better.
Thanks for your honesty in sharing this with us, a sign of true warrior. Another valuable life lesson.
Not easy. But def important.
"When shit is going great and youre feeling on top of the world...THAT is when something is going to hit you"
Words to live by and be mindful of!!!👍👍👍👍
Stay aware and present
Absolute truth.
I retired form the Army in 2022. I was an E for 7 and O for 13. When I was E-3 I was stationed in DC at Honor Guard. We were out in Alexandria and I was going to pummel this guy for saying something about my girl (who wasn't even there and the dude didn't even know). My buddy grabbed me I remember he kept saying "THINK..THINK". We walked away and I swear it saved my career. You are spot on! Walk away!
Hey I was stationed at Marine Barracks 8th and I Washington D.C. from 2000 to 2002 in the Honor Guard, Alpha Co. 1st Platoon! Doing Full Honor funerals at Arlington National Cemetery is something I will never forget, among other things.
I probably stood a few jobs near you. I did a lot Pentagon/WH/Arlington jobs. USMC has an amazing HG. I agree about those days man...I am not sure if it was because I was younger or what, but those were among the best years in the military. @@zacharyfindlay-maddox171

I really appreciate everything you said that should hit me hard especially the ending I won't get into details because my life is nothing compared to yours and what you've been through But your words really got to me broi hope you're doing okay.
I retired two years ago from the Navy as a W5 Ordie. Too many times I've seen booze be the downfall of the many. It does not discriminate, Officers, Chiefs and E's alike. I appreciate the honestly and the hard talk; I would be showing this to every Sailor that checked into my squadron if I was still in. Great work and thank you for your service.
Wisdom. I’m blessed that I was able to turn the drinking off when I got out. I was married 18 months after leaving the Marines and I was damn sure I didn’t want to get back into the drama.
Keep stories coming, I liked your final words about drinking.I’m an old blue water Navy Vet and drinking got me in trouble a few times.
You never told the story of WHY you punched that guy!
We wanna know...
Your story is just unreal warrior. Thank you for everything.
So... why did you hit the guy?
This guy is awesome, love his honesty! I spent the last 30 yrs in the bottle myself. Just in the last 3 yrs have turned it around, got my shit together and back in shape. Never been in the military myself but I can definitely relate to his challenges. Stay the course brother!
The world opens up when we strip away the things that hold us down
All that shit that went down in the past has brought you to this point brother , The self-will has now become Gods Will or what every you want to call it! It's bigger than you are ! You are a professional soldier , a freedom fight , a preacher . Right here, right now you have found your calling and by now you should know that everything that has happened to you in the past has made you tougher, and stronger , You now have become a teacher! I'm glad this forum called RUclips has brought your story to the public, because it deserves to be shared! Keep grinding, and keep the stories coming! Cheers !
Appreciate that brother. Yes all the those hard lessons were ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to attain a certain level of self-awareness
I think of you and your story every time I drive by the Ada County Jail. I live and work here in Boise Idaho. I also think I know the Steak house that you were enjoying up til said event.
Great story - as usual! Man, many of these experiences could be their own action movie! I'm the most boring hermit living under a rock there is, each of these videos is so intense! Everyone makes mistakes when we are young. Telling of yours so publicly is so valuable, especially to younger folks, the lessons learned, the prices paid. Your intelligence and perseverance to get through al these, to adapt, overcome, correct course and succeed, and then teach, should be considered invaluable lessons! All to often though, youngster end up not listening and making mistakes anyway, but if you get through to anyone, save anyone the grief and headaches, it's worth it! 💯
Thank you for sharing your incredible life stories. Your military career is admirable. Thank you for serving.
Please keep the videos coming. You are a talented life coach.
More on deck EVERY Monday and Thursday 0600 Eastern Time👌🏼
You really need to get on the Shawn Ryan show. People need to hear your life stories. My nephew is a Command pilot with the 160th Night Stalkers. Even he is watching your channel and watching in awe of your service. @@tcavofficial

When I was in the Army I got a felony charge on the civilian side that was not even a crime in the Army.. That was a shit show
Awesome story, ty for sharing this Taylor.
I don't always get in trouble when I drink...but every time I got in trouble, I was drinking. Very true! Tks! Love these videos and the message.
You are so welcome!

Another great story and advice bro 👊🏼
My man‼️👊🏼
Fucking 100% on the money! I fucked up back in 2011. Same shit bar fight after I got back from Afghanistan after a contract gig. I was offered another gig with more cool guy stuff, and man, was I feeling on top of the world. But I definitely wasn't dealing with my emotions on the inside the right way. I decided to hit the bottle one night after some news about my relationship and then woke up in jail. Let's just say my life went downhill after that. But I saw my true friends and I started to see where I was coming up short as well.
You took the good lessons from that, well done bro👊🏼
I've gotta tell you, you've got an excellent way of speaking and articulating yourself. You could talk about the invention of dirt for an hour and I'd be at full attention. I'm really rooting for you as I see you doing big things.
I don't talk much about this but I've been sick for some time now. I'm in and out of the hospital, pulmonology appointments, primary visits, the works. It's tough to keep my sanity at times but truly, since discovering your channel and getting these videos every 2-3 days have been a blessing as there is always some lessons to take from them.
Sorry to go a bit off the rails there lol I just wanted you to know that people out here really appreciate you sharing with us!
Brother, 😆 "invention of dirt" man you're too funny bro. Every Monday and Thurs brother we'll keep these videos poppin.
If you are having trouble with your mindset I have the exact remedy. We have to get you on a solid disciplined program. Email me: tcavofficial@gmail.com
@@tcavofficial If I can get a laugh from a battle hardened soldier then I feel I've made an achievement.
I absolutely appreciate you reaching out to me like this. I am admitted at the hospital right now for a slow IV drip blood thinner. Ill be here about a week more they are saying. When I get home I'll absolutely take you up on your offer. I'm ready to put this behind me and start anew. Your timing couldn't be better. You've got your work cut out for you though! 😂
Might is pretty screwed after a tough divorce and losing both my jobs due to Covid..this Legionerre keeps my fuctioning and leading a kitchen at age 57.
By the way. I found a new “bad ass title for your new book: The invention of dirt.@@tcavofficial
Hey Cav, you would be a great motivational speaker. You would also be good at advising teenagers to stay on the right path in life. This is fast becoming my favourite RUclips channel. What an interesting and adventurous life you have. Merci Mec. P.S. Are you into boxing?
I have trained Muay Thai but very minimal. I am looking to get into boxing a bit after the Legion.
Don’t fuck with the seals
Can we see that security footage?
Man I couldn't agree more... the sitting around waiting is the worst.
UCMJ is a rough , I almost got fried myself. I enjoy your message, when I quit drinking, most trouble in my life was gone. In the US military they don’t even need physical proof to charge you, just a sworn statement from another. I wish I knew more about the Legion when I was separated from US Army
We gotta act smart
I definitely wasn’t smart when I was 21, like you said loose lips sink ships , if so would of just kept my big mouth shut
I'm 70 and every stupid damn thing I ever did as an adult there was alcohol involved. I was a happy drunk with a very short fuse that got me into a lot of trouble. I feel ya Ty.
I'M 58...every stupid dangerous circumstance I found myself in was booze related..
Alcohol and ignorant behavior got me booted out of the Army back in 87. It cost me a lot as a civilian too. I finally gave the shit up, been sober over 20 years.
How could you be expected to perform on deployment with that shit hanging over your head? It's fucking crazy mate.
This thing comes off when work's gettin put in.
dang just for 1 punch, unfair.
Great videos.
RESPECT 💪🏻👊🏻🇮🇸
I really needed this today! Thank you Brother! Love all respect! Prescott, Az.
Love that AZ love
Love it my guy. It’s exhausting trying to be two people at once. I can’t imagine being a SEAL a Controller on top of that killing it and being Billy Badass with women and all that stuff. I did that for so long until oh shit I’m in jail what happened. Slow down pump the brakes make sure your alignment with whatever you value is squared away. Trying to be the hood guy and fighting demons is exhausting so cut the demons and the LEGAL stuff out and just been solid. No less no more if you do that nobody can take that from you. Love the stories they ring out with me even though I wasn’t military. Like I said the wisdom is universal. Thanks my brother always look forward to videos. I wait till the morning to watch so I start positive and stack a early win. Much love Tye
These universal principles transcend absolutely brother
Been this way for 1000s of years. Easier for some then others but they will show a better way, always do. Be safe
Glad everything worked out for you Brother. Love the way you humble yourself and don’t make excuses. Awesome example for all of us.
Always!
This shit hits so fucking close to home, it's crazy.... It was 2016 for me, too, when I was riding high as fuck, thought I was invincible, and I made some decisions which sent my entire life crashing down. Had an incredible job, engaged to a loving caring beautiful doctor, beautiful apartment, everything was going brilliantly.. And I fucked it all off, made a couple incredibly stupid decisions, and it totally spun my entire life out of control, and in the end I lost everything. Your ego can and will cause you to fuck your entire life up, if you give it the time and opportunity to do so. I'm the sort of person who needs to stay on top of my ego at all times, whether i'm doing well or even when things are shitty... If I let my head run wild, it's only a matter of time before i become my own worst enemy and set fire to my life. Personally, it's important for me to keep people around me who will help me keep everything in perspective, so that i don't sabotage myself with excessively positive or negative thoughts. It could be a romantic partner, a therapist, a co-worker, sibling, best friend, boss... whoever... Best bet is to have a number of these folks around me at all times, helping to keep me and my thoughts in check.
Thanks for doing this, Cav'... I know it takes courage and a willingness to be vulnerable.. But it helps you in the long run, and it undoubtedly helps countless people who watch your videos and benefit from your experiences and wisdom on these very real and serious subjects.
"Excessively positive or negative" well said brother. Best to stay grounded in realistic optimism🤙🏼
Dude wtf! WTF!!!! THIS SHIT JUST SNAPPED ME OUT A FUCKING DEPRESSION. What is happening lol
I would be interested to hear the difference in pay from Seal to Legionnaire benefits career potential lifestyle and all that stuff. Anything in the economic sphere brings in a wider audience.
Def good idea i'll hit that on some future vid👌🏼
If this happened in Ireland if you bring 1000/2000€ compo you would walk outa court charge dropped I see it happen many times you definitely wouldn’t see a minute of jail✅ you do about 6 years here for manslaughter…..these videos are brilliant 🫡 🇺🇸 🇫🇷 🇮🇪
you look younger and your face is thinner. Too much running or it's the French food ha ha
Better focus
Thank u. I need to hear this from time to time. May God bless u sir. It seems he already has. ✌️
Thanks for listening
In a future video, could you talk about how your SEAL training (and advanced skills) benefitted you in the FFL? RLTW!

EXACTLY what i needed to hear today! THANK YOU brother! And God bless!
be smart! thank you Sir!
You are welcome!
I’ve been lucky more times than I can count as a young man. Your message is straight up truth. I hope it reaches the boys and helps them think, not punch their way through shit. Your a good dude Cavanaugh. Best of luck and Gods speed.
Thanks for your support here and spread the word👊🏼
Good story and better advice frogman. Stay dangerous.
Appreciate your Words man thanks for being Real. I’m currently trying to figure out whether I wanna start taking the steps towards getting into BUDS or just getting out. But I feel as if, if I get out without having tried then I’ll regret not giving myself a shot at it and live with that forever so idk man if you got any information that could help please do send it my way thanks again.

Love the Devil Dawg love bro👊🏼
I was very, very lucky not to have gotten in trouble in the Marines from drinking. Young, dumb and drunk. Never a good combination. I realized i wasn't going to survive, not going to jail, the brig, or kicked out. Multiple fights stopped drinking. Saved me.
Thank you for sharing your these parts of your life sir!!!!!!
I totally agree with being held to a higher standard. Question I have why Seal's like Eddie, Jimmy, & you are always taken to the mat ?
I’m glad I don’t drink. I didn’t have the cash to become a drinker and smoker. I was reduced in rank when I was on my first West PAC. Often enlisted are set up by the SNCOs & Chiefs. We all seen it too many times.
Have you stopped drinking?
Your a great story teller buddy
Thank you kindly
Brother, you need to get your story out there. Not sure how, or even if, it could be done but someone needs to link you up with the Sean Ryan Show.
"I don't always get in trouble when I drink, but every time I've been in trouble, I've been drinking..."
Needs to be a fridge magnet.
😆🤙🏼
Every time I got my ass in a sling alcohol was involved. Luckily (actually Blessed), there were a few people in my life who stood by me. I had to work hard to regain their trust and faith in me. It’s been nearly twenty years since I have drank alcohol. Don’t miss it at all!
Great story, Bruh!
so real question: what led up to you breaking this guys eye socket.
Thank you, educational video
HELLO ALL! IVE TAGGED THE Shawn Ryan Show a few times but need you all to tag it as well. Let’s get TCAV and his story on the Shawn Ryan Show like he deserves and we want to see!! @ShawnRyanShow

Bro, that is some sage advice right there. Rings true for me and what I have been through as well.
Right on
If I didn't know any better I'd say you been listening to a lot of wes watson videos. Love the content bro. Keep it up and this will be the catalyst for a great post military career 🤙
Great advice, wish I could go back in time and make it all right.
Out of curiosity, was your platoon blasting “out on bail” by 2pac before you guys would roll out lol
I was at the Camp next to the Seal house in Mukmore during that time.
I appreciate your advice brother, coming from a Marine that was stationed in San diego back in 01 to 06, had waay too much fun too.

The sky is the limit for a dude with your mind set... Thank you for putting yourself "out there" 💪
👊🏼
You can't fight forever.
Strip the vices and keep your wits, love it.
Powerful and truthful story. Something I will think about. Stay strong and drive on.
i dont drink now but i was rambo with drink in me unvincible wirh no brain now am just invissible with a brain and no drink
This dude is a clone of Wes Watson. I mean that in the best possible way.
Dude, wise words as always! I wish I could have heard some of this solid advice when I was a young man. I got into a few bar fights, to include smashing a beer bottle on a guy’s head for shoving my girl. I look back and think how damn reckless and stupid I was for doing that shit. I am lucky to not have been arrested. This is why the younger generation needs to hear stories like yours. It just might save them from a world of shit. Thanks for the story! Much respect!

He is very honest and smart enough to look for the positive in a very negative situation. An admirable quality.
