Learning to transcend effortlessly with this simple technique of TM was the best decision of my life. It has been a wonderful tool to bring me deep restfulness -- deeper than possible in the deepest part of sleep -- that results in vitality and a clear mind and a happy heart. Personally, I love the scientific research studies that verify the power of this natural technique.

New person to TM. Been at it only a few days and looking up videos. My friend paid for my experience and I have to say it is real. It works. Having done some drugs in my lifetime, nothing too crazy, but I have, I can say that it feels like a trip sometimes. I have lost ego a couple times now, felt like I was lucid dreaming, or that I was almost dreaming. Just today it felt like I was visiting the woods and also the beach in a very peaceful way. It is not always like this, nor should anything be expected, but it really does cause you to feel refreshed like your slate was cleaned. It lets me forget about everything for a moment and just be present or not present as my mind wishes. Probable the most free I have ever felt. It's clean, it's safe, it's natural, and it works. It's also exceedingly simple. It is best not to go learning about it from any leaking source out there. I can vouch that there are reason they want an instructor there to help you. Not for anything dangerous, but to maximise your experience and make sure you learned it the way Maharishi Mahesh Yogi intended.

I took TM classes, but I'm still confused about how to use my mantra correctly. My teacher told me that I have to think about it and let it go. When I do that, thoughts come, and I can't get that quiet peace that they promise that you'll get during TM. Can you guys tell me how you use your mantra? I tried repeating it in my mind, thinking it in my mind. I'm confused and how it's done correctly.

@@moto__shark you are doing it correctly. You are alive, with brain activity. You will have thoughts. The point of the this meditation is to develop focus which in turn will silence the mind. Just keep repeating your mantra. Thoughts will come. But remember your mantra is your mind vehicle. As soon as you realize that you started to think about something, acknowledge it and go back to the mantra. The more you practice, the better you get at staying focused on the mantra and you will go longer without having thoughts enter. It’s a mind exercise. You get better with practice. You are flexing your mind muscle.
The more control you have the less distraction you have. This gives your mind rest and silence. peace
Your mantra by the way should just be some kind of gibberish made up syllable or two. The reason for that is to not have any thought association with that “word” or sound. As you repeat it in your mind that’s all you would focus on and not think k about anything associated with it.
So if you have a mantra that reminds you of something change it. it should be a blank association. Hope that helps

I wish many people new about this. I can only see this successful if you go through the program. I see comments of people saying they self taught, but having the support of the teacher opens up your mind about the technique and subjective experience.
TM helped me with bipolar disorder, weed dependency, depression, binge emotional eating and now I enjoy meditation more than getting high. Once you get used to it, you don’t miss your meditation.

TM is unique in so many ways. Obviously, there are kinds of meditation that can be learned for free, and while people may find some of these practices beneficial, none of them are anything like Transcendental Meditation. For years I've researched various practices and now I teach meditation. What I've learned: TM doesn't keep your mind active and engaged on the surface, like so many other practices (such as meditation apps, guided meditation, concentration, contemplation, mindfulness, etc.); TM doesn't give your mind some new thing "to do" to keep it focused or busy. The technique of TM allows your mind to settle down EFFORTLESSLY, till you "transcend" or go beyond all mental activity, to experience the deepest, most settled state of awareness (called pure consciousness). This brings the deepest state of rest to the body, as so many studies show (deeper rest than other meditations, and deeper than sleep by many measures, just look at the science!). This profound rest revitalizes the whole system.
The reason TM cannot be learned online or from a book is because the practice requires effortlessness, innocence, and you cannot be effortless and completely innocent when you're also trying to direct yourself or teach yourself and figure out what to do. The process of the mind reaching its most settled state, as happens during TM, can only happen naturally and effortlessly. The beauty of TM is that it allows anyone to experience this "transcending" and gain the full benefit that meditation has to offer. Before Maharishi introduced TM, this particular technique wasn't available anywhere, it had gotten lost to society, even in India. Maharishi trained teachers to teach it properly, and the teachers follow their high standard of teaching to ensure that the technique doesn't get lost again.

Yesterday i came across a TM advertisement on FB & jumped at the opportunity to attend in hope of finally finding something that clicks & works & is effortless for me in the hope of finding/creating "inner silence/peace".....so i went along today being the only person, i found it (the orientation) exciting, overwhelmingly to good to be true, yet so want to give it a go & believe when a lifetime of (other things) have not worked & something comes to you.....my question for you please is.......for this course it is $1500 for the 4 days, she is a lovely trained certified teacher, ((Maharashi Foundation Aus) would you recommend i go for this?? 🙏

That's correct: you can't DIY with TM, because learning the "technique" has at its heart an act of hypnotism, abetted by deceit, and exercised by a trained conman.
You can't dupe yourself into TM; you need to be "initiated" ie: conned by someone with the appropriate specialist conning skill.

I learned TM in the 1970's through the formal process with a regular teacher. It is effective to a point and has some good outcomes; however, it had some significant and complex negative outcomes in my life. I now do Buddhist mindfulness meditation. It is a more holistic, more wholesome, more profound and ethical process than TM. I don't need mainstream science to tell me that. You hear very little about the different physical, neurological, and psychological effects one meditation technique has verses another. They are not the same. They affect your brain (and your heart) differently. The present day cost to learn TM is a whole other discussion and makes me suspicious of the whole organization.

Can't wait to see how it evolves for me in the future. If you are gonna have a warning to people, best not to make it so vague. Makes is easy to dispute or refute. Every TM beginner without exception is given a mantra or word to be
repeated mentally every time he or she sits down to meditate. The mantra
is given in the course of the initiation ceremony. The aspiring
meditator is told that this is her or his own personal mantra and that
it must on no account be revealed to anyone else - otherwise it will
    lose its power.
The sense of specialness in which the giving of the TM
mantra is shrouded might seem to suggest to the individual meditator
that he or she alone has been given that mantra and that the TM
organization must have dispensed many thousands, even millions of
different mantras to corresponding numbers of meditators. The reality,
as told by instructors who have defected from the movement over the
years, is rather different. A variety of sources suggest that only
sixteen different mantras are given to new meditators. Moreover, the
mantra one gets is determined solely by one's age at the time of
initiation. The complete list seems to be as follows : Age Mantra Age
    Mantra

Dana...there is so much more to learning and practicing TM successfully from the time of learning through regular practice. As a 45 year TMer and friend to hundreds of other people who practice TM regularly i can't emphasize this enough.....giving out isolated snippets of instruction and practice of TM does not serve anyone. I know this kind of thing is, for most who do it, motivated by a desire for more people to learn, and that is laudable. But, the effective teaching and follow up programs to ensure the proper practice of TM is only served well through trained teachers in places that can be reliably found. This takes resources...living wages for the teachers and funds to pay the bills of facilities and teaching materials. By giving out isolated, partial elements of learning TM the proper knowledge, quietly, insidiously becomes lost as those who think they have learned fail to get the experience that TM can provide consistently and reliably with proper instruction. Then the valid knowledge becomes lost until we are blessed with another revival of how to transcend in meditation effectively.

    • @lindsaydyson7474
      @lindsaydyson7474 8 лет назад +9

At free TM Intro talks people often ask me (a certified TM teacher) how many TM mantras there are. I would never give the impression there is a unique mantra for every person. How could I possibly remember millions of mantras, let alone billions? TM mantras are unique. You learn why at the Intro talk and once you learn the technique, it becomes evident why.
The TM technique is not just the mantra, however. It is also how to use the mantra properly. This is why you need a certified TM teacher who has gone through extensive in-residence training and who keeps up his or her certification as other kinds of teachers do. TM is easy to learn and effortless to practice. (It is simple, but not simplistic. Rather its effect is profound.) And even a slight effort causes incorrect practice.
The mantra itself is the vehicle to refine mental activity. During the practice the mantra becomes subtler and subtler and then one automatically leaves the mantra behind, transcending all thought and experiencing unbounded inner silence. You need both the mantra and the correct application of it.
Don't sell yourself short. Go to a bonafide, certified TM teacher.

They overcharge on the practice and make it to where you can't read a book or watch a video about it, they made sure of that, BUT from all the articles I've read about what it does to the brain, and the blogs and videos of personal experience, it does work. I get most of the benefits they mention through mindfulness meditation focus, drive, a relaxed, calm state, better reflexes, better sleep, etc, but the ont thing I dont get is the creativity....but I get like 99% of it without the $1000 price tag, so eh. I heard open monitoring meditation increases creativity though. I would try mindfulness and open monitoring for a while and see if it works...if not, buy it? Idk, that's a lot of money.

She was in grade 9 when she enrolled in the girls academy, and is now a junior. I’m sure you and I both cannot even begin to fathom the kind of life she’s lived. This young lady began her poem saying that she wished she wasn’t born, so I imagine the first 16 years of her life was not easy, most likely traumatic; and you find it appropriate to say unnecessarily cruel things.
      What a shame.

This is the worst TED I have ever seen, a snake oil salesman and used car saleswoman made a baby and out popped TM.
