Before the "Swan Song" was performed "Etude Op.10, No.12" (or "Revolutionary Etude") by the great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, written in 1831 and dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland.
"Swan song" ( lyrics - Asami , music -Miyako) from the third album LOVEBITES "Electric Pentagram" (2020). For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of swans is amazingly beautiful.
"Etude" by F. Chopin and "Swan Song" are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, "Etude" and "Swan Song" are played together.
In an interview given after the release of the "Electric Pentagram" album, Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky "Swan Lake" . During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Because the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured on video.
Lovebites just announced today that they will have a new album out in January titled "Judgement Day", so perfect timing to finally get to them.
It is releasing February 22nd.

I seen Lovebites in Edinburgh and Newcastle UK on tour with with Dragon Force it was awesome also was told the Girls drums and guitars have to go for therapy after every gig.

Just to clarify one thing, Fami was more famous on the internet, that does not translate to sellout concerts, in fact she said on her video talking about how she joined Lovebites that she was thinking of trying to find other stuff to do cause being a bass players wasn't going to well

Kel being a classically trained musician herself can definitely see and hear the Vast Musical Theory going on. Its mind boggling how well these women write,play and perform. Believe it or not their live works are preferred too their studio versions because they actually elevate the song 2 fold in a live context. Only a select few bands have ever been able too out perform their studio masterpieces consistently as well as Lovebites effortlessly does. Lovebites hits so many Sweet spots musically and mentally its astounding. Their sound and writing is very familiar for so many world wide its honestly quite impressive. Btw Kel the vocalist Asami's register is very similar too Hearts just more operatic. Thats the sell of the contrast with this band. R&B/Classical female vocals with Speed/Thrash/Power Metal. Great reaction/s guys. Welcome too the Wolfpack.

LOVEBITE made a self-made demonstration CD when they were just formed. After listening to the CD, Victor Entertainment staff contacted them and decided that they would make a major debut in just six months after their first live performance. Victor's commitment to a band that had just started and had no track record was unusual. Since its debut, LOVEBITES' work has been mixed by Mikko Karmila and mastered by Mika Jussila, a talented Finnish engineering team famous for their work with Nightwish, Children of Bodom, and Amorphis. Thunder Vengeance and Shadowmaker are re-mixed and mastered with their new interpretations.

On November 25th, 2022 LOVEBITES announced their 4th album. The new album "JUDGEMENT DAY" will be released on February 22nd, 2023 and it will be the first with the new bassist Fami. Furthermore, 2 live concerts on March 11th and 12th, 2023 in Tokyo were announced, also for the first time with Fami on bass.
The LOVEBITES fans (Wolfpack) are happy now.

To Kel, (caveat: LOVEBITES is my favorite metal band, but there is another that is right there with them) I know you said you would take off your headphones if there was scream/growl and believe me I was right there where you are but listening to you describe what you were missing with ASAMI's vocals, I really recommend you check out MAYU and NEMOPHILA. From the most angelic cleans, to Kawaii (cute), to her rock rasp, and last but not least the best melodic whistle-tone fry scream I've ever heard...and how she seamlessly switches between all her vocal modes. Oh, have I waited for this one! Kel nailed it with Swan Song, but dare we say that they go heavier than the first two songs? I mean, Holy Wars and Shadowmaker are basically their gateway drugs into the band. Everyone starts with those. but when you get to Thunder Vengeance, The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath, and Break the Wall, they have everything that you need. I wish you had done Thunder Vengeance live, though; that was the opening number for that Five of a Kind show at Zepp DiverCity. The song they played immediately after that was Holy Wars. In fact, that entire show is perfect! If you do any more of this show, I'd suggest Break the Wall and even We The United.
But you've hit it completely on the head with this band in the fact that they are women, and can play harder and heavier than most bands out there.. and do it in heels.

I believe Frozen Serenade? has another Piano piece in it as well. Should mention this is the old bass player because they really haven't done anything with the new one yet. I too only discovered Lovebites about 3 weeks ago but I am totally obsessed with them now. There is not one song by them I do not like. one thing they do that I love is every single song has some sort of "hook" in it. Something special that makes it stand out from any regular song. An interesting thing I read about the band is the drummer and bassist were in another all female group together that broke up and they are the ones that formed Lovebites and inspired the type of music they play. ironically, the bassist left the group but the rest who had backgrounds in other genres continued on with her style of music. Oh and the blond guitarists only started playing guitarist when she was 20. Good to see you guys back. Sorry to hear about Kel's misfortune but she looks as beautiful as ever.

Miho's father died and I speculate she was having some trouble coping. She is back playing in projects like the Down Dope Squad which is a group of Japanese women musicians who got together to do a few concerts of covers . Mao Yamamoto was the keyboardist for the symphonic metal band Light Bringer. Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus started out as the singer in Light Bringer. Asami and Mao are writing songs for a new band Lonesome Blue. The lead guitarist for that band, Narumi, was in the all-women metal band Destrose with Haruna and Miho. Narumi is also participating in the Down Dope Squad.
They also did a theme song for an Anime, it became so popular as a theme they released it on an EP. Check out Winds of Transylvania (the music video has clips from the anime)

I can say that I feel just the same as Rich. My journey with Lovebites started two years ago and it have grown in me. Asami's vocals were in the beginning for me too the thing that made me think what I am thinking of this band. But I say that just go on this journey and listen their catalogue and see their variety of songs. They are just perfect for me. For Kel I'm recommeding the three E songs, Epilogue, Empty Daydream and Edge of the World. My favourite is Awakening/ The Hammer of Wrath live in Zepp Divercity 2020

Maybe Keli is suffering from metal creep. Ha Ha - She seems to want more and more rawness and masculine drive. You can appreciate bands like Lovebites while still craving the classics. So Rich, you know what to do. In any case, stay well and I think that I speak for most of your subscribers when I say we love taking this journey with you. I think that Kel wants a little more variety in the metal (multi-dimensional metal maybe?)
Very good reaction, very enjoyable and interesting! Theoretically, I shouldn't love Lovebites as much as I do. The kind of metal they play is not what I usually enjoy listening to the most. But I happen to really love them and I listen to them practically every day. They are just so musical and talented, they really take the whole thing to a new level. I can't help but admire them. And today is a VERY happy day for me: They've just announced a new album and two live dates! How I'd love to be there...

The further down the rabbit hole you go with Lovebite's music, the more layers you will find in their sound. They come at you with so many different styles of metal. I got into them about 2 years ago and I cannot stop listening to them. I can honestly say there isn't a song I don't like. They are, in my humble opinion, flawless. They are great songwriters, have excellent lyrics, and are all savants at their chosen instruments.

This is what my ears have been longing for the last 30yrs for metal… i’ve been playing the same songs over and over again for the last 30 years just waiting for something fresh and new! and THIS IS IT!!! I discovered them about 3 weeks ago and have been hooked since. And I, absolutely, agree with you, these ladies deserve to be the biggest band in the world and I hope they get that soon!
May I recommend “We the United” “Set the World on Fire!” and “Judgement Day” for me those are three of my favorites. I have all their songs and I’d say about 80% of their songs are really really good!

To me, Lovebites is the best metal band in decades; their level of skills, creativity, versatility and musicianship is beyond belief. They have just presented their new outfits with some new design but still elegant white. It would have been much better watching the the videos instead of just listening to audio.

good and honest reaction. i think the opposite of kel though because i've heard almost nothing except masculinity in metal for the last 50 years. LOVEBITES is refreshing to me in the sense that it brings femininity into the mix while retaining the heaviness that their predecessors had. a new take with their new music that i can't get enough of.

I can see where Kel is coming from. Growing up, i would never imagined loving this style of metal so much, listened to a lot of Slipknot, generally heavier stuff!!
Also, power metal isnt for everyone and thats ok!! Meanwhile, my taste has changed a bit over the years and im a HUGE Lovebites fan!! If you're a fan of this genre, this band is a dream!!
The musicianship this band carries is absolutely amazing, Midori and Miyako such fantastic twin-lead guitars and their different styles mesh so well together!!
Haruna and Miho, powerhouse rhythm section and Asami for my ears is so good, her vocals really shine on some of the ballads, slower songs!!

Masters of Metal, Angels of Steel! I've been listening to Metal since 1984, Thrash Metal being my favourite subgenre after hearing Metallica's "Fight Fire With Fire" for the first time on the radio way back then, and discovered Lovebites 4 years ago (unfortunately just a few days after they had finished their German tour). They are the band I have always hoped one day would emerge: an all-female band taking "old school" Metal to the next level! Even though Miho has left the band, her decision to found Lovebites has - IMO - been one of the best in the history of Metal! Also, though only a minority of their songs qualify as "pure" Thrash Metal in my book, there isn't a single song by them I don't like! Since it sounds like Kel especially likes the "thrashy" stuff and since she also would like to hear songs with less high-register vocals, I highly recommend their three IMO thrashiest songs "Break the Wall" - ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html -, "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath" - ruclips.net/video/otJZPUCwyOM/видео.html - and "Set the World on Fire" - ruclips.net/video/99zsH6iG_6c/видео.html which happen to be my favourite songs by Lovebites and might also turn out to become Kel's faves (can't guarantee anything, though). Thank you for getting to Lovebites so soon after your return! In a way, you guys were responsible for me finding them back in 2019 because, after your Band-Maid reactions, I went off and searched for other all-female Japanese bands, and the first ones I found were the fabulous Mary's Blood (my favourites, sadly now on indefinite hiatus) and Lovebites. I'm just a little sad we didn't get to see Rich's reaction when he heard them for them first time, too, because while you were gone I kept thinking "Rich needs to hear them, Rich needs to hear them" 🤣
Btw, if you want to try some 70s tinged rock from Japan, can I suggest Glim Spanky? Their song "Give Me Rage" (怒りをくれよ) is a good starting place, I think. Remi's voice is like a drug 😍

Herman Lee is a class act and his band is great band! Lovebites is equally great as well. I have nothing but love for all those bands but I would urge you to revisit Band-Maid. They are a truly unique special band that have evolved into a league of their own. They are really pushing their sound towards a progressive and unique place and where I feel they are unmatched. This has only been magnified after seeing them live on their recent 13 city sold out U.S. tour.
