My favorite part of these videos are the comments telling operators with real world experience what and how they should be carrying. Even as a regular old Marine I realized years ago that keeping is simple is always better.
Swapping the P320 mag release is super easy lol. Depress the mag release to expose the hole on the other side of the button. Keeping the mag release depressed, put a paper clip into the hole to push down the plastic tab, and push the end of the paperclip down to lever the back plastic part of the mag release up. From there, simply pull out the plastic back tab, and remove the mag release from the gun. There's videos of it on RUclips here for the visual learners. Doesn't take a gunsmith, doesn't take special tools.
I am not a door kicker. My Edc is a Walther PDP compact with one additional 15rd mag. A sure fire pocket light, Spyderco Delica 4 and a Letheman multitool.

Clint isn't the brightest and he over does everything. I've been shooting my whole life and mags almost never go bad. Plus you should vet your mags before you carry them. The problem with having only one mag in gun is the mag base plate could fall off or a jam that needs to drop mag out. Also thugs come in groups now. I always carry an extra mag.

Clip draw on a striker fired gun is imo risky enough. But a p320 with no trigger safety is seriously asking for trouble I think. Why even take that risk?
Installing a P320 mag release is easy . Removing one is a PITA. I swapped all mine out for Armory Craft extended paddles using the Xacto precision knife method - trashes the OEM’s a bit but I don’t use them again after anyway. I recommend Armory Craft P320 takedown levers too - the OEM’s can break eventually and they’re really hard to get out once that happens .
Not a fan of the clip draw personally. Too much to go wrong with an exposed trigger 🤷🏻♂️ there are so many comfortable holster options to choose from there’s just no reason to risk it
With the quality of holsters we have today there is no reason to carry without a holster. I could be wrong but i seriously doubt anyone is carrying with a clip draw all day everyday. I get the idea of what you carry only needing to be sufficient for an immediate situation with the rest of my gear in the vehicle. That being said, sometimes the vehicle is farther away than we can get back to so having a at least an extra magazine is prudent (not to mention subject to burglary or outright auto theft). I carry an extra mag for my 365. Standard 10-round mags for a 365 (or a base mag for Glock 43 or similar) isn’t that hard to drop and carry in a pocket of most sensible apparel. Since I live where I’m not subject to capacity limits, I prefer the 12s because they give a better grip. While a six or 10-round doesn’t give you the unlimited ammo supply, it still provides that minimum measure of redundancy. I’ve seen real world instances where my co-workers either lost the mags in their pistols when an inadvertent bump to the mag release button let them drop out in the car seat or in the bushes, or accidentally ripped the base plates off when exiting a vehicle. Granted these incidents happened in a uniform capacity, but it can happen to citizens not intentionally or actively engaged in travel along the path of harm’s way. But for those who haven’t had those experiences, following Clint Smith’s advice and carrying at least one is just common sense. As I’m basically retired from LE, mostly plain clothes career, I still have found it difficult to let go of some of the EDC stuff I used to carry. Still have to justify wallet, keys, knife, light source, cell phone, as well as the pistol and extra mag. At least I don’t have to cart around handcuffs and BUG anymore. And I’m open minded to ways of more minimalist ideas.
The only reason I'm not a big fan of the clip draw is due to the fact that when I did run one, and I drew and fired my weapon, when I went to replace it the hot friggin slide against my abdomen was NOT a pleasant experience!!! LOL...I, now, prefer an IWB holster just to prevent this in the future should I run into it again. But this is just my personal preference...
Good morning, gentlemen. Happy hump day. Thank you for this breakdown of EDC. I agree. I look at the same way on carry an extra magazine. It all depends where im going. 💯. I used to carry a full tier 1 rig with an extra mag when I lived in the city. I moved to a small town and now carry owb 4 o'clock with no extra mag.. I feel like my threat level as well as need to conceal well is no factor anymore
“ if I can’t solve a problem with X amount of bullets, I’m in trouble “. Hate when people say that, the main reason why one should carry an extra magazine is because if you have a double feed or another type of malfunction, the way to clear it is to strip the magazine out of the gun, rack the gun and reload. That’s the main reason you carry an extra magazine.
I have been friends with Dutch for years, you may not agree with the clip draw, I dont use it either, he has never, not one single time tried to convince me to use it. Then don't holster it with your finger on the trigger. Or, failing that simple ability, get a model with a manual safety. The only eal issue they had was the drop safe issue, which was fixed in 2017 and hasn't been a problem since. All the reports of them "going off by themselves" have been found baseless in court. Three internal safety mechanisms present in every pistol that would have to be overcome for the gun to fire itself, and not a SINGLE weapon has shown evidence of such damage. Of course, nobody likes to talk about how those lawsuits are being funded by anti-gun lobbyists, which really puts the assault on an American firearms manufacturer into perspective.
Clip draw has always looked sketchy to me. Why not get a trigger guard holster from QVO tactical or raven concealment? They're minimal while still protecting the trigger.
So what if someone breaks into your truck? I’d love to leave enough gear in my vehicle to go through a war zone but cannot imagine the horror of it being stolen
You shod. Vet your mags before carrying them. Every carry gun I have is vetted by me and has at least 500 rounds thru it with multiple types of ammo. If the mags run flawlessly then they won't just go bad. I only carry OEM mags.. in a real life self defense situation the person will be either touching you or within 21 feet so you will not have time to switch mags since all self defense shootings are finished within 6 seconds from start to finish. The FBI collects all self defense shooting data nationwide and their data shows that none of the cases included a mag change and almost 100% of shootings fired 6 shots or less. Carrying a spare mag is extra weight and not necessary.
@@whatsup24_7Clint Smith (as referenced) said he carries an xtra mag(s) because he had an incident where his duty pistols base plat snagged while he was exiting his squad car and parts flew everywhere. We don’t often take into consideration the entropy of life destroying things.
Carrying that 320 with no trigger guard appendix is nuts. I think it’s OK to say you do it, but justifying it to viewers is crazy. There’s just not a reason to do it that way.
320&365 mag release isn’t really that hard to install plenty of DIY videos to demonstrate. And I would agree with others for bare bones minimalist a raven concealment. Like you stated you need 5-7lbs of mechanical force for the 320 to discharge but it’s not mechanical force that causes ND it’s human error. I do respect y’all’s opinion and enjoy the content but have to realize not all the viewers are door kickers, maybe new gun owners with a vague understanding of firearm’s safety. Just my thoughts
First of all thank you guys for your service and I love your channel. Please stop carrying the pocket clip gun! I understand that it is your choice but when you are going about your day it's likely that you muzzle something else besides yourself. I think it is irresponsible to carry without some form of trigger protection.
Touching on the idea that dutch says "what are you prepared to do" is what im prepared to do is to protect life and limb from the mass shooter armed with a rifle and I'm prepared to protect my self against the armed robber with the draco or Ar pistol that is why i carry a fullsize hangun with an extra mag.
Yup. The days of the civilian's threat model being "5 or less shots from 5 yards in or closer on a single armed robber" are over. Now it's crazed lunatics with rifles and body armor, or acts of mass terror committed by groups, or rioting mobs being whipped into a violent frenzy by media propaganda.
Hold on a second. You carry a sig 320, who is currently being sued by like 50 people who have claimed the gun goes off by itself, appendix carry without a holster ????? Please tell me I just didn’t hear him say that 🤔
I don’t know how anyone who has been in combat doesn’t carry a flashlight and a knife with his firearm.A blowout kit as well. That’s the absolute minimum for me.
There are other consequences outside of just basic safety of properly covering you trigger. Those very possible consequences far outweigh the convenience of a clip draw. There is so much awesome content but this is one thing you guys in my opinion are just dead wrong about.
I'd like to know what basic consequences you refer to. Are they basic to you? Or basic to someone that has been carrying a tool for most of their life that you can compare to carrying your plastic cell phone? If our plastic cell phones don't break everyday maybe some could be able to responsibly carry. If your an adult of course, and don't need the warning labels on your bleach container lolol
I have to laugh at you GIJOE types! I'm a civilian, I have no mission! I just want to protect myself from a criminal attack! I carry the same pistol, reload, hand light, OC spray, & knife! Every day, every season! Just talk like a normal person to normal people!
the fact he carries without a holster makes me question all the videos I have watched on this channel. Great knowledge, but striker without holster? why risk it?
Rewatch the video and he explains it. He also very diplomatically points out to do what makes you comfortable. This wasn’t a video telling YOU what to do, it was a video showing what THEY do. If you can’t understand that, then this video was a waste for you to watch.
I grew up being taught a pistol not racked with the safety on in a holster was 3x too much and the only safety needed is your brain. So if you think you need all that then you do.
How to increase the odds of shooting yourself. This here is proof that you could have a cool guy spec ops background and still promote stupid ideas. Common sense is to use a holster that covers the trigger guard completely. The only exception I could see with the clip draw is a double action gun for deep concealment (ie: a small DA revolver). However, the p320 is essentially a fully cocked single action striker fired gun. 5 lb. of pressure and that is going off. That could be clothing, skin, button, drawstring, whatever. I'm not saying he can't do it. What mi saying is that because he is showing the audience this method other people are going to think this is okay and some new gun owner is going to copy it and blow his dick off. Now, I'm fully expecting the comments defending him because of his background. But you can ask other guys of the same background and experience and the majority will tell you it's a very stupid idea.

I bet these guys trucks have more firepower than a Abrams tank 👍
He drives a prius
*Carrying an extra mag because nobody ever complained for extra rounds available, god forbid.* 🇬🇧🇺🇸
I returned that belt it honestly sucks it flimsy as all get out terrible
Ok a a pocket holster is bad enough but a clip draw what in this world
Hold on a second. You carry a sig 320, who is currently being sued by like 50 people who have claimed the gun goes off by itself, appendix carry without a holster ????? Please tell me I just didn’t hear him say that 🤔
Yeah… no trigger guard. No for me. Do you.
I don’t know how anyone who has been in combat doesn’t carry a flashlight and a knife with his firearm.A blowout kit as well. That’s the absolute minimum for me.
A true minimalist carries a 5 shot revolver and a 3 inch knife 😳🤣✌️🍺🇺🇸
The real dead man’s gun is the 320 pointed at an artery with no safety and not in a holster. Really hoping people don’t follow the gear set here
It’s why I carry a glock I can take it down all the way with a ballpoint pen.
A Dead Man's Gun is an unchambered firearm. A Dead man has P320 edc, chambered carry and without holster. Yes, you are crazy sir.
Why bother with covering the trigger guard on a striker fired gun? Darwin’s Law will apply.
What’s the purpose of an extra magazine? 1. Extra Rounds of Ammunition 2. Replacement of a Defective or Problematic Magazine. Carry a Spare Magazine.
@LongFatJohnstonMurphy's law. If it can go wrong, it will.
Sig 320 🤔 NOPE
😉
