- Miss Universe 1975 the 24th Miss Universe pageant, was held on July 19,1975 at the National Gymnasium in San Salvador, El Salvador. Anne Marie Pohtamo won the title for Finland, thus making her the second Finnish woman to win the Miss Universe crown after Armi Kuusela, who was the first Miss Universe winner, in 1952.

when Finland used to be a powerhouse in all pageants. This is the last Grand slam crown that Finland won. Last placement in Miss Universe was back in 1996 placing 2 runner-up to Miss Venezuela Alicia Machado.

Miss Finland is beautiful and natural no wonder she won the crown .. and this crown is so beautiful and iconic and the sash and the scepter.. Miss Universe organizations should go back to use this crown again and instead of using CZ or crystal but using other natural precious stones like white Zircons and diamonds !

This could have been a back-to-back victory for Finland. Because Amparo Muñoz resigned & the 1st runner up from Wales cannot takeover because she’s already a mother. Finland was the 2nd runner up in 1974. She should be the one to take over the 1974 title.

The previous Miss Universe 1974, Amparo Muñoz from Spain, could not crown her successor because she had resigned 6 months ago. The one who should have crowned Miss Finland was Miss Universe 1973, Margarita Moran from Philippines. But the one who crowned Ann Marie Pohtamo was Miss Universe 1972, Kerry Ann Wells from Australia. What a confusion, I know.

I can not comprehend until now how Miss Haiti became the first runner up. Could it be that the Miss Universe org. was in a hurry to make a black contestant have that chance to win the crown? Anyway, the right time came two years after in 1977 in the person of Jannelle Commissiong.
