The tutorial in the game is kinda trash, it does a brief explanation of things but mainly just tells you what to do. This one has a pretty thorough explanation of all the stuff you get inundated with early game as a beginner.

Gilgamesh* can build a war cart turn 1, strongest ancient unit, who have spears without spearmen research, horses (maybe donkeys) without horse resource, and wheels without wheel research, and it doesn't have any historical precedent IRL.

i really like how you go over every detail, this helps a complete nub like me. though one feedback point is naming the videos to indicate what is the major focus of the video; it helps me pick the videos that i currently need. for example " Tutorial 6 : navy battles" something like that.

Its a 5 year old comment for a 5 year old video, but I have to say that he should have written a bit of a script with what to say for each topic, he paraphrased a lot
@@insertenombreoriginal5897 he can’t control what he sees happen in the game so unless he plays really slowly and then talks over the gameplay, he will have no idea what to say in the script

@@insertenombreoriginal5897I think the rawness of this guide makes you understand the different choices in the game. You see him contemplate these in real time and see him give weight to those options. Something a script can't do. I understand you were looking for something more scripted, maybe try reading through the game's document (civlopedia) or other channels.
Just watched about two hours of your Civ6 tutorial in order to understand how the heck this game works. Really enjoying it now on the Switch, thanks to your vids. Big thumbs up!
Exactly the same. The only problem is that it's harder to find every information of the switch screen, but the game is amazing

@Mitcheru Gaming Bit unrelated but is it worth getting a switch? I’ve been thinking about it just because of the accessibility and unique games I can play. Thing is, I’ve already got an Xbox so I’m not too sure whether to spend money on a brand new console
@@user-eh1gc7xo7q Might be too late already but I'd say it very much depends on if you have concrete games you wish to play, and if these games are only available on the switch. The switch is convenient and neat, but the games are just so damn expensive lol. Amazing, but so so expensive, especially considering some you might get cheaper elsewhere (pc, xbox, etc.)
I just got it on xbox because they have a sale with every expansion for 26 bucks. I played civ revolution back in the day on the 360 but this game is much better and I liked Civ Rev. So complicated compared to rev but alot of fun. On PC it's like 100 bucks for all the expansions which is ridiculous so I went xbox lol

I just got this game for Switch, and haven't played Civ at all before. Thank you so much for this helpful series! It's so much better than the in-game tutorial, very informative.
Got it on pc and now on switch as well. I rly prefer the switch version before sleeping in bed. It's just awesome. :)
Got it kn the switch Christmas of 2019 decided to start playing this game now so his tutorials are the absolute best

I got the game for free on epic games store. Tried to figure it out on my own for 3 games on the standard difficulty. Lost every single one, but I learned a lot. I used to play a lot of Age of Empires so Im stuck in the mindset that I have to make a big army and attack other nations, but I found out pretty quick that its not really like that and that there's more than one way to win the game.
Same situation here, was trying to do a lot of units and just make the war to everyone, and I ran out of money an eventually lost XD

If you right click a building in the menu it will take you right away into the civilopedia to its entry.
I thought I knew how to play this game. But I've actually learned a lot of little things I didnt know.
Great videos for me. The strategy of settling towards other civs helped me out a lot
The problem raised at 4:29 can be “fixed” by using a builder to demolish the natural resources on the land, allowing other buildings. The removal will cost one of the builds your builder is allowed. I very rarely do this. Only if I have an abundance of one resource and can afford to swap in place of wonder/district if no others are available
I love how he started talking about the border between his country and the one that didn't like his as a "front" before any war even started :P

So, let me see if I got this right. If a tile has 2 food and 1 production, the city will only be able to take advantage of it if a citizen is actually working that tile?

afaik you can't remove luxury or strategic resources, not with a builder or an engineer. Bonus resources can be removed, maybe not stone, but sheep and such you can

As an empathetic INFP INFJ person who usually gravitates towards story, art and an emotional journey (eg. kingdom hearts II.) I usually don't gravitate towards single player RTS games. I always wanted to get invested into StarCraft II in high school from 2004 to 2008 like my other fellow Chinese Canadians in Canada. Alas I was never able to get into RTS games. I was able to get into League of legends playing 1 or two game a day since the online part made it easier to motivate to play, though league has a higher requirement for adrenaline, intuition and in the moment reflexes, rather than slow-paced planning ahead of time. I'm glad to say the artistic change for Civilization 6 and your wonderful quirky, brainy, well-meaning narration is finally getting me into the single player RTS genre. Thank you Quill18!
Civ isn't REAL TIME though, it's turn based! Welcome nevertheless!
After watching these tutorials I have to say I'm pretty interested in giving this game a shot.

Loving this tutorial. It is very well done, not over-explainey and is very easy to follow and honestly your voice is soothing! I watched the first couple after I bought the base game and your excitement sold me on the game and I went back and bought the "anthology" that has all the rest of the game. Thank you.
i got attacked by greece in ancient era. still fighting them in modern era :)
heres what you gotta do. build 15 nukes and send them towards greeks major cities then do a huge rush build extra 5 for greeks armies! it worked for ME

Just played through my first game. Everything went great, building units, preparing for war just forgot the religion stuffs. So then out of nowhere instant defeat without any warning. At least no unit(person) died except barbs :D
When it comes to horses and chariots, historically early civilizations actually used donkeys and onagers for them before using horses. So its not weird that you can build them without horses
such training tutorial is so wonderful and content rich, that i have to take a short break between sessions so to max my learning!
These Videos are awesome a little too detailed but still awesome got it in the epic store and now i try to learn everything because so far it was kinda confusing sometimes

This has definitely helped. I’ve had to restart my campaign multiple times due to trial and error playing this for the first time. As far as i’m aware from playing the game, the Switch version doesn’t show what an action does like when you hover over an action/tile on PC. While you can use the touchscreen like a cursor, it’s really difficult and you can sometimes press something without wanting to. It can be very buggy at times and some of the information goes to the top left of the screen and gets cut off. It’s still enjoyable though. What isn’t enjoyable is doing great at the beginning of the game and being ahead in science and faith, then midgame seeing another country already is in the Atomic era while i’m still in the industrial era lmfao I play as Japan rn.
This is a great series its on sale on Steam right now and you're definitely convincing me to buy it

I watched your first 3 vids, did a settler game and controlled half the map but rome managed to get to mars and had a too modern army for me to get through xD Guess I need to watch more!

Good to run into you again. A friend gave me Civ 6, and I'm trying to get up to speed, for local multi-player. No one will play me at Civ 5 any more, because the same friend created a monster by talking me into studying the game, through tutorials. including yours. I'm going to tone it down a bit, as I really didn't want to be any kind of takeover person.
First of all . This is so useful ! Easy to understand. But then i was trying to find the lets play BUT THERE ARE TOO MANY PLAYLISTS whattt?! Ive never seen anything like it . I CANT FIND IT😅

The reason chariots are free and horsemen cost research: saddles I would say the number one reason saddles. I mean the reason you couldn't have armored nights on armored horses earlier in history than the Middle ages is because the horses weren't large enough yet. But riding riding is all about saddles one saddles got invented chariots disappeared. But saddles are very much taken for granted today there's a lot of technology that goes into the saddle and early saddles weren't suitable for fighting they took a lot of advancements.

This has been a great series, I took some tips from the first episode and started a new game, I think i'm enjoying it far more.
Previously I was putting the difficulty up to King (didn't know the AI gets bonus' from higher levels) and I was going larger map sizes on randomized maps. Things were not really working out the best and it was feeling rather difficult. One game I went Norway, spawned next to an ocean, but after a while I figured out that ocean was a small inland sea, so wasn't much point building a navy, which is not really great for Norway.
New Game now, Smaller map size (the one that defaults to 8 players) Continent shaped map, left it on Prince, I've got Japan this time (I like to randomize my own Civ) and I feel it's much more enjoyable for me this time around, as someone who has only ever played this one Civ game, I never played the previous ones.

Hi. Great videos. Are you able to tell me where you talk about the various ways to win and how to maximise the efficiency of the tech tree etc? Ive ben playing for a few days now but i am way behind others in the victory points.
Here i am with no navy, waging war with crossbows, then i see a barbarian musketman running by. I just declared england my ally, and they have fucking battleships.
Is there a way for a city to not have anything being produced for a turn. Everytime i build a unit or an upgrade. I have to build something else in order to progress to the next turn?
