  • Rural China is the poor part of China, the dirty part, the place where they hide the homeless. This is according to the West.
Today I went to a market, I walked through the streets in Rural China and this is what I found. If you are traveling to China, go see for yourself the life in the countryside and experience the true culture of China.

It looked more like a village than the countryside to me but I guess everything is relative. What struck me was that there were so few people out and about. What time of the day was this video recorded? My guess is very early Sunday morning? And also, life in a big city and rural life is very different in most countries. Not only China. China is urbanizing pretty fast, there're less and less people still living in the rural areas. I agree with you it's fun in tranquil villages. But for young people, there're not too much (well paid) work chances; for older people, large hospitals with good specialties are not that available too. So that's not bad, but not preferred. Many villagers have their relatives in the city, eventually they move to towns or cities, unless they establish a decently large orchid/pasture or so.

Thanks for your video. I feel the same as you do. I prefer the countryside to the city. In China, there is a gap between the countryside and the city, especially in the poor provinces. I am from Chengdu and have worked in Guizhou. The countryside around Chengdu cannot even compare to most areas in the province (Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province), let alone the countryside in Guizhou Province. The countryside around Chengdu is rich, clean, tidy, and full of a warm rural atmosphere. But poverty and dirt can still be seen in many places in Guizhou.

Here are the opinions of a Chinese person who grew up in the countryside:
Homeless people: In my memory, there were some homeless people in the countryside in the 90s, most of these people became homeless because of natural disasters such as floods. I have seen homeless people in the streets in small cities (maybe two or three till now), but not in the countryside since about 2000. When I was about 5-8 years old, we could even sleep on bamboo beds outside on summer days since it is cooler and don't need to be afraid of bad people.
The sanitary condition: Even when I was little, people would like to keep their space clean. In our traditional concepts, if one who cannot even keep his/her own house clean, he/she must be a very very lazy person.
The environment: I really miss those days when I was little, I could go out to catch fish or crabs in the rivers with other childhood companions or do some other interesting things(including stealing oranges from other families). At that time, there were a lot of people living in the countryside. But with the development of China, more and more people moved to the city.
Regional differences: I think there is definitely something not good in the countryside, even though I didn't travel to many different areas in China. In my father's generation, life is really difficult because of poverty. What I want to express is that China is very big and there are a lot of people living in different places, so it is possible that you can meet something bad. For example, I've never met a drug dealer till now; but in the years 1970s-1980s, there were villages producing and selling drugs.

China has established a series of criteria to evaluate impoverished counties, villages, and households. Through the implementation of national policies, assistance from affluent cities, universities, and government units, these areas have managed to lift themselves out of poverty within a few years by improving infrastructure, supporting industries, and providing educational assistance. Indeed, China does not have slums in the Western sense; this issue was essentially resolved decades ago with the achievement of universal access to villages (including 4G and 5G networks). The entire country is now engaged in the construction of "Beautiful Villages," focusing on village appearance, rural industries, and cultural heritage. While villages in the remote mountainous areas of the west are being lifted out of poverty, those in the eastern coastal regions and around cities are moving to the next stage of construction, known as "Future Villages."

      一、你可以通过汽车牌照判断,二、你可以通过店铺招牌判断,比如宜良烤鸭。

There is 5G in all towns and cities in China, and Alipay and WeChat Pay can be used. There is mobile phone signal wherever people live.

Haha.. your comment “they don’t give a shit even if I’m foreign”. What makes you think they should give a shit just because you’re foreign? Let’s face it - your driving around shouting out “nihao” is just weird. No surprise that you’re largely being ignored.

@BishoySamaan-yi8ry birds of a feather... He didn't walk up to someone and say hello. China is traditional. He reminds me of the drunks or drug addicts here in the US. No manners.

They think animals are objects, not individuals. Western countries have atrocities, but such insensitivity at the personal level of all nation like in China, is hard to wach. It is not good.

What are you talking about in the video? The animals I saw in the video were dogs, chickens, and fish. The dogs and chickens were alive and well, but the fish on sale were dead. Are you saying that Chinese people are inhumane to fish?
