Her mum is correct, most people are ignorant to the world because they never leave their comfort zone to experience different cultures, but when they do a whole new world awaits them ! I have call China home for 17 years , best decision I ever made in my life was coming here !
Exactly as many Americans have never been outside their country let alone their state and they believe everything that their controlled mainstream media tells them about China as if its the most suppressed and controlled country on Earth. Americans don't know what true safety, cleanliness and freedom actually is. Freedom to walk safely anywhere, anytime day or night, without having to worry about being robbed, attacked or shot at. They tell their citizens in the world of western controlled media that communism is bad and evil so the USA created the wars in Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia as if the evil communism was going to infiltrate the world with the resultant total loss of freedom. In reality, those wars have cost of millions of lives and over a hundred thousand Americans have been sacrificed as 'acceptable' collateral damage. Now having fled Afghanistan and leaving Vietnam now with its communist government, the USA is now wooing Vietnam as an ally and grooming another potential proxy against their now major adversary in the 'evil communist' China.
Even Japan, who the USA fought and dropped nuclear bombs on and razed Tokyo to ashes, the USA is still occupying and grooming as another proxy against China - the China who has not gone overseas or invaded or fired a bullet at any other country in over 2,000 years. Creating wars and conflicts is USA's business - it's how they enrich their elite and Military Industrial Complex and most Americans are deprived of what most advanced nations can enjoy. In the 247 years since their Independence in 1776, Americans have only enjoyed 16 years without a war!! USA has just increased their military budget again and now spends more on their military than the next 20 countries together! The enemy is not China but Washington, the Pentagon, Wall St, the controlled Mainstream Media. The government continues to easily spend more on its military yet finds it so difficult to spend anything to improve the condition of their own citizens who are constantly being fed propaganda by the press and told they need to 'sacrifice' for the good of their country, that their Democracy and Freedom will otherwise be threatened.
They have already groomed most of Europe, Japan, Taiwan, the UK and almost all of Australia, Canada, India, the Philippines and New Zealand. They have already created more than 60 coups and created chaos in countries that they don't agree with since WW2 and they're wondering why countries are dumping $USD and treasuries and scrambling to join BRICS, China's Belt and Road (151 countries and counting), SCO, AIIB, etc. away from the risk and coercion of the USA hegemony.
Look at Ukraine and the EU - Russia and Europe had been co-existing and trading peacefully for decades until the USA corrupted and installed puppet leaders in Ukraine after overthrowing the democratically president Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. That started the persecution and bombardment of the Russian majority Eastern Regions costing over 14,000 lives as they did not agree with the puppet leaders installed by the USA. Even in March 2022, only one month after the Russian intervention in February to prevent even more genocide of Ukrainian Russians, Zelensky knew that the war would not be good for Ukraine. At that time Zelensky wanted to discuss peace with Russia but this was prohibited by the UK and USA who 'promised' that they would support him to defeat Russia for 'as long as and with whatever it would take' - on the other hand Zelensky most likely had little choice in the matter.
This was always part of the USA's plans to weaken both Russia and Europe to maintain their own hegemony and the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines and Biden's Inflation Reduction Act that specifically targeted competing EU industries at that time has confirmed this. USA had already broken promises made by Bush to Gorbachev in 1991 that Nato would not move 'One Inch' towards Russia and the expansion of Nato though the Warsaw Pact countries and the Baltic States that were formerly part of Russia along with the subsequent dishonouring of the Minsk Agreement of 2014. Yanukovych had agreed to the Minsk Agreement arranged by France and Germany for the purposes of the peace and neutrality for Ukraine. Russia, since the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, wanted peace and to join the EU but this was always prohibited by the USA as a stronger EU would certainly be a threat to their hegemony as they now consider China to be. However this is all backfiring on the USA as the unintended consequence has been it has not only driven Russia closer to its main adversary in China, but the war has exposed the USA for what it is as they are the only notable beneficiary of the Ukraine war. Many EU countries are now becoming more aware and are quietly moving towards someone that is more trustworthy in China. As it is more than three quarters of the world that still have an independent media and not subject to controlled western press have realised this and do not support USA in their wars and sanctions against Russia and China or anyone else that the USA does not agree with. They realise that their own assets may also be at risk of being stolen at anytime as what has happened to Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Russia already.
Many of Ukraine's assets have already been stripped by the USA in 'part payment' for their support and the MIC is committed to protect their assets but are finding support for the war is waning and the USA is broke with debts soaring to soon past $34 trillion with no resolution in sight in the foreseeable future. The USA cries sovereignty yet remain uninvited in Iraq, Syria and Cuba either stealing their oil or establishing a prison in Guantanamo Bay where heinous crimes are committed away from US soil and the gaze of the world's media. How many of their 800 military bases remain 'occupying' many of their so called allies since WW2 where they continue to concoct stories of threats or create enemies where there are none?
My sincere apologies Lizzy for veering away from your innocent and peaceful walk in the park in Kunming but hopefully people can see some of the reasons why many cannot do so anymore in their own countries when their governments are more concerned with geopolitics and their hegemony instead of improving the lives of their own people. They create conflicts not only to distract their attention from their own problems but for some, like the USA, peace is not as profitable as war and conflicts are. The USA with only 5% of the world's population is already proving that their version of 'democracy and freedom' is not the most successful form of governance for a world as diverse as it is yet it still continues in their vain goal of being the hegemonic nation in denial of its declining influence and power.

@@user-ir8ew Apply for your passport and visa, and then think about what your favourite environment is like. For example, if you like international metropolises, then go to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen. If you like antique, go to Jiangnan Water Township in China. If you like four seasons like spring, go to Yunnan. After coming to China, find a job in a local enterprise, so that you can apply for a work visa, and you can renew it all the time later. If you don't find a job, I don't know if you can renew it all the time.

In my opinion, Belt and Road Initiative is a platform for shared development, allowing countries committed to changing the status quo to have relatively equal opportunities and new models for development (just like China's gradual change from extreme poverty with peaceful road, a great human miracle). They need equal opportunities and their own efforts. Maybe one day everyone can live a rich life without having to leave hometown.

12:40 as far as i know, those seagulls are migrated from Siberia. They go to Kunming to avoid harsh winter in Siberia, that's why they only appear in Kunming during winter.

When she featured the jewelry shops and these shops didn't even the glass entrance doors, though there may be surveillance and security devices in place, I can say the security and safety of that place being positive.
Lizzy's mum said very few of her country folks have ever travelled outside their country. This is similar to america where only a very few have ever stepped offshore. This is why they are so closed minded which made them to be easy prey of their mainstream media. Very sad but true.

Kunming is my hometown. It is a pretty city and the weather is not cold in winter and not hot in summer. Hundreds seagulls migrate from Siberia to Kunming for winter beginning of September and go back to home after February every year since 1989 till today. Kunming is not only famous for its nice weather , also it is famous for all kind different flowers . The weather provides good conditions for different kind of plant and flowers grow here. I am so happy that you and your mother like Kunming. Hope you and your mother enjoy the city , food and culture. Thank you for introducing Chinese cities and culture to the world. China welcome all friends from talk over the world to visit China.

Can’t speak for South Africa. But I lived in the US and can say that I felt so much safer at night or alone in big and small cities in China compared to the US.
