Don't listen to the other person that replied. Whether the apple is organic or not, the wax is edible and will just pass through your body. In fact, apples produce their own (also edible) wax which helps the fruit to retain water inside of it. Because the apples are usually washed thoroughly (as seen here) this natural coating may be lost, which is why a new wax coating is applied.

@@katkatmi if its non organic apples, they use wax such as paraffin which is harmful, but organic apples use carnauba and wood rosin which are safer.
