What a fantastic video! Amazing work. And wow, didn't expect to see myself feature in #4 haha! Ironically I do softly disagree with #4, I do think there is power creep to some degree, but it's within reason. Heroes from waves 5-8 are on average much stronger than 1-4, BUT the strongest heroes from back then contend with the strongest heroes now. And more importantly, I'm 110% agreed on all the old heroes being great and viable still. Old cards don't lose value, and even on new heroes I always use a lot of old aspect and basic cards. We're lucky to have this amazing game and community!
Thanks VT 🙏🙏 i totally agree with everything you said. As others have said, i think it just depends on how someone defines power creep. Your tier list is great so i had to put it on :)
Great list. I totally agree with all of it. It really is amazing what FFG has been able to do with this game and how great the community is. Also a number of awesome content creators such as yourself.
Thank you :) i can’t agree more how amazing this game is and somehow everyone that I’ve spoken to is incredibly welcoming and nice. I really do feel like people who play Marvel Champions are amazing human beings hahaha
Great video! I agree 100%. I have and still do play many card/board games, and Marvel Champions is hands down my favorite. I picked up Marvel Champions when it came out for my son's birthday, and we have been playing it together ever since. I own everything released so far, and I still haven't played every hero, I haven't beaten every boss on expert mode. There is so much content that the replayability is endless.
Hey WWF! I agree with all of your reasons, specially #1, and you sir are one of the finest persons of this super duper community. Cheers from Ecuador 🎉
I enjoy the cooperative experience in Marvel Champions much more than playing against other people, such as in Magic. It feels great to work together as a team to take down a villain and beat a campaign. We do have Arkham Horror the card game, which is almost as good, but I and my family do prefer Marvel Champions.
I love the co-op experience too. It feels epic fighting a huge villain like Thanos! I haven’t played Arkham Horror, but being able to play as superheroes in Champions is a big appeal for me :)
Definitely agree on all points! So wonderful the "no powercreep", usually a marketing strategy for forcing purchased. MC is more "play the pace you prefer, buy what you prefer". Feeling all decks very thematic. Thanks for the video!
Hard agree. Haven't been able to put it down! I manage to meet new friends who are also passionate about it and we been playing in a game store weekly! (I'm always trying out your decks so thanks for that!)
Absolutely. I’ve played so many games already yet i feel like I’m not even halfway through with content. I haven’t even touched on modular sets that aren’t recommended!
@@webwarriorfanatic This is the same for me, and I've been playing for about 5 years. Since I play every hero in every aspect twice against each villain, I actually still haven't even finished the Mutant Genesis campaign yet. It's possible I may never experiment with non-recommended modular sets!
@@johnwaynemcclung8056oh wow!! 5 years! I’ve been hearing so many great things about exploring modular sets but now i feel like maybe I’ll never get to it either 😂
@@webwarriorfanatic LOL I keep a spreadsheet of all of my plays, so it makes me play each hero an equal number of times and thoroughly. I think that gives you a decent chance to beat me to the modular sets. 🙂
Amazing points, pretty much the same 5 reasons why I love this game. The no powercreep is the biggest one for me. Nearly every cardgame has powercreep, Marvel Champions doesn't have it. Yet it still brings new stuff to the table with every new hero/villain pack/campaign set. The thematic nature of the game is why I love a lot of weaker heroes, like Hulk and they even managed to make the villains thematic. This must've been pretty hard to achive and get right, the designers made an insanely fantastic job. And yeah, I also like how I can just adjust the difficulty so I can beat normally harder villains with weaker heroes as well. From this point I would just echo you, so I'll stop.
This is the best game ever by far for me as well. Even when I "take a break" from the game to play another, I come back to Marvel Champions within a week. One of the reasons I love the deck construction of this game is because one doesn't have to do so with all 40 cards -- 15 of the cards are already set, so we only need 25 more cards, and those cards are narrowed by the aspects (for most heroes). I wouldn't have thought about the community, but you're right, it's quite rare to run into rude people, and most seem happy to help with any questions. 🙂
Yes, the deck construction is great. The 15 hero cards give a general guide for the player to lean into and build towards, but sometimes it’s fun neglecting the hero kit and building against it like with playing Star-Lord less risky for example!
This has been my favorite game since it released. I saw the announcement for it and wasn't interested because I didn't particularly care about superheroes. In fact, I was honestly annoyed about it. I wanted to see a co-op version of something like Netrunner (using FFG's Android universe). But then I watched Evan (former PR guy for FFG) play a demo game with Team Covenant and I was sold. The mechanics alone got me, and as soon as preorders were open, I ordered it. I've never looked back. I may not jive with every new hero that comes out, but I love that they're always doing new things to make the game feel fresh. Not everything lands for everybody, but that's another great thing about it: just about anybody can find a hero that works with their playstyle.
That’s super interesting to hear. The BIGGEST draw for me at least initially was the superheroes aspect particular Marvel 😂😂😂 but i stayed for the same reasons you did. That’s cool that Team Covenant sold you into this game, I’ve heard legendary about them :)
It is jolly good, certainly my most played of the last 4 years. It's also very approachable. It's fairly easy out of the box, mp at least and way easier to deck build for than LotR or Arkham. I believe the precons are mostly sound too. I take your point about power creep - old heroes are just as good as they ever were or often better. However the power level of decks is through the roof compared to core, or more reasonably the first cycle when you got a range of choices. It's hard to pack 10 allies into a deck when there are only 4!
I’m so jealous of you guys. My wife enjoys Champions but its a little too long of a game for her so I usually play with others. Definitely my desert island game too :)
I have never played a LCG before so I bet my money on Marvel Champions and bought everything for it without even trying the game first haha. Will receive my order in a few days and I hope I will enjoy it as much as everyone else does, fingers crossed!
Hahaha that’s crazy! There’s definitely a learning curve but if you get over that it’s an amazing game. If you have any questions feel free to ask :) I’m sure you’ll enjoy it
I really think this game super fun with its thematic setting. It does kinda get boring just playing by yourself. I tried playing it with friends but the whole card game mechanic is too complicated for them 😔
Aww sorry to hear that :( My wife enjoys games but she doesn’t like to play for an extended amount of time. Marvel Champions was my way to play with her once a week, but also play by myself 😂😂
I still remember seeing MC for the first time and deciding not to buy it because I knew I would want to buy everything about the game… until my brother gave it to me in my birthday last year… BEST.GAME.EVER!!! (I have about 80% of everything out there right now and counting).
Nice!!! Good brother right there. I’m also around 80%. Honestly this game isnt too expensive if you’re caught up 😅 about $100 of product will be released this year. Just starting out though can be overwhelming with everything already out haha
@@webwarriorfanatic Right now I’m playing aggression Hulk/She-Hulk vs expert Rhino + Armadillo encounter and I’m having a blast. The modularity of this game keeps it fresh and gives it lot of replayability.
