Took me 5 sittings to watch, almost done, but this is the reason I love watching ANNA. She's ALWAYS HAPPY. Her feelings are so honest. She gets excited by moves. Positions scare her, yet she's always positive. May get down, because of a game, but 5 minutes later, she's back to being perky again. Hope she maintains that joyous spirit, as she gets older. It's rare to see, even in young people now.

I watched the whole thing!!! Anna is now living even more rent free in my head. I played some games and I could hear myself thinking "the idea is simply to go here, here, and then here and takes, takes and takes cause I don't like his Knight there cause it's kinda scary!"
I legit learned so much in these 8 hrs. I always thought sacrificing a bishop for a knight was bad news, learned it's not. I didn't even think about sacrificing to "mess up pawn structure" I learned that it sometimes makes sense to move into risk if the piece is weak (eg. light square bishops sometimes). I often used to find myself playing too passive and just dancing developed pieces around the board with my opponent, these new things helped me notice when to attack. I also figured out some ways to attack castled Kings. I learned to just keep trading pieces and go to an end game if you're up pieces and can't figure out a checkmate. and yeah...
Also, I learned water is underrated, and tea is underrated. I learned Anna says "glasses" in just as interesting of a way as she says "half". I was reminded of how much more I don't like the Spanish from Spain accent versus the Central/South American Spanish accent (when speaking Spanish... that forced lisp just seems so unnatural, lol anyone reading (probably no one) don't hate me for saying this.)
Finding this video when I'm still sick and in bed was pretty clutch. Thanks a million

This is the best idea ever and the best instructional video i have ever seen. I know I am too low rating (823) to be using the Sicilian defence but its the one i started off with and my white opening also happens to be Queens Gambit - so I have learned such a lot. She mentions in the video that she is a night person and not a morning person. I've also seen several afternoon streams where she mentioned that she did just wake up. But this is definitely outside her normal sleep schedule. I too wondered why she started at 2am rather than a couple of hours earlier, but she mentions at 4:38:48 that she thought it would only take a couple of hours and that she is a "Time Optimist", always thinking that things take much time than they actually do. This might also explain why she is so often running out of time.😉

When you said at 2:45:16 "Like not actually doing everything" you're re-telling the story about Emanuel Lasker. He was about to light a cigar during a game, but hesitated. His opponent, who _hated_ cigar smoke, was distracted. Lasker never lit the cigar, but it was _right there._ Finally, his unstrung opponent called over the tournament director, demanding that he make Lasker stop. When the director pointed out that Lasker was not actually breaking any rules, the player said “Everyone knows that Dr. Lasker has written that the threat is much stronger than the execution!”'
    So you're in good company.

Hey Anna, I have been catching up on all your videos and I have to say I really love this one especially. Explaining tactics for lower level players like myself has been so helpful. The issue I find with watching GM's play is that they make all these moves and you have no idea why because they don't really explain the reason for making those moves.. So I end up not learning much from watching GM's play. I enjoyed it so much I will be watching it again to ensure I remember some of these opening tactics..

Watching Anna beat lower levelled players is making me learn a lot, she sees checkmate patterns that I don’t see or would take me a minute

I'm still watching not because I love chess (l like chess but it's just okay) but because I like you and how you transpire doing what you love. I love to see and feel that through people. It's very inspiring witnessing people doing what they are passionate about.

It took me several takes on 17 different days to watch it all but meow I finished it. I did expect you to win that game because of prior knowledge, but halfway the game I didn't see how you could. But then, I don't have a rating.
It was an interesting journey and nice to watch the stages of chess to go through. My favourite moment was your reaction after you lost the game after blundering a piece just a few matches after you said you should take losses like a champion. You recovered nice though, congratulations this feat.
