This is well spoken. It is different from the history I learned in elementary school. I once worked on a long-range general plan (What does a community want to be in 15-20 years?) for a small newly-incorporated town in Arizona. I was shocked and horrified that one proposed version of the oral history of that town praised one figure for being a good Indian killer. (This was in 2005.) Better minds prevailed. I have worked with three different tribes in Arizona and developed a respect for their connectedness to community, spirituality and the land.

I live in NYC, and its hard to get people to understand the importance of water when we are so accustomed to running water and water bottles littered across the streets. Then I look at the blood on that dogs mouth and wonder if it is actually just the dogs blood from being stabbed in the face with flag poles. Then I hear from anonymous protesters that anonymous pregnant women and children were bitten by these dogs and I wonder if I am being manipulated. This is why I ask questions. Does that offend you?
