What's the minimum power outlet required to power this thing? I'm in an apartment in Canada so I can't really wire in anything special. The manufacturer is giving me some crazy numbers.

Well, I would definitely stick to the Houston/Baytown/Beaumont Area for work. That's where most of the refineries are at, but it's hard to get in. Then you have your fabrication shop companies in Northwest, west, North, Northeast and Central Houston places. For a beginner like yourself, expect to earn at least somewhere between 16/HR to 20/HR Shop Pay. Don't let them fool you into taking a welder role for 14/HR, those times are long gone. Refinery pay is somehwere between 33/HR to 38/HR, could be a bit more as well. If you do move to Texas, get yourself an trailer and research places that let you park your trailer for a low cost. Unless your going half and half on a apartment with your buddy. Sometimes if you live past 65 miles from the jobsite, the contract agencies for the refineries pay you per diem. These per diem payments can range from 80 a day to 150 a day if I remember correctly, these per diem payments are for motel costs or if youre renting a room. Buy yourself your essential tools before moving here so you can be ready to work, regardless if you go to the plants or a shop. West Texas do have pipeline work, but you need a rig and good contacts to get in. Good luck
