- This is a video tour of the market town of Mildenhall. It was filmed in the spring of 2020. This is the closest town to RAF Mildenhall and very close to RAF Lakenheath.
This town is bigger than Lakenheath and most often it's where we go for groceries or to go out to eat.

I miss Mildenhall SO MUCH! This was the best two years of my life!!! The best way to spend my 19-22 year old times! God the U.K. was sooo funnnnnn
I was there for 2 years 1973-75 when I was stationed at Mildenhall, and it was the best time of my life as well. I'll never forget it. I hated to leave to go back to the States.
Spent '73-75 at RAF Mildenhall. Lived off base. The entire Mildenhall community couldn't of been nicer. Great memories!

Thank you for the tour. I spent about 2 weeks at RAF Mildenhall in 1985. I recognized a little but it was just great seeing the place again. Very happy memories of a special, beautiful place.
Memories... At 2:49, the black door in the flat was where my Aunt Maisy used to live. She dies in the late 1980's. At 2:50, that is where my Uncle Bernard lived. Mill Park gardens used to be a feed mill called Parker Bros Mills. My Grandfather (Step) was Donald Parker and his son was Bernard Parker. All those houses used to be mill property and there was a small trail that went to a bridge on the river lark where I would feed the swans Waaaaaaay back in the early 1980's... Great video!!!!!!
My Dad was born in ones of those houses next to the mill.

I had a friend shot and killed in his own house many years ago and the 2 sports cars crash, leaving 3 dead, memories ? i lived there for 13 years , I have visited a while ago , see friends..
I lived here just off Brandon Rd a little over 15 years ago. It will always have a piece of my heart, thank you so much for sharing! I was great seeing some of my favorite parts of town again! 💕💕💕
My parents ran The Maids Head pub in the eighties Mildenhall has a special place in my heart very happy growing up there

When i lived there back in the 80's there was this beautiful chess shop downtown that sold beautifully carved chess sets made of stone . This video brought back beautiful memories.

I was born in Suffolk back in 76 my parents return to the US when I was very young and I've always wanted to come back
I've just watched a vid of lovely young lady, who lived here when she was six, and now came back at 24, to settle down..there are so many single gals living in UK, as well as whole families!..Must be something in the rainwater! lol

American Abby Check out Suffolk Summer by John T Appleby an American Air Force guy whom wrote some of the most beautiful and touching close to nature I have ever seen . WW2 USAAF it’s a lost gem ❤️
Born there in 1945 right at end pf war. My Dad was stationed on 15 squadron at Mildenhall.
You need to do Bury St Edmunds named after the Martyrd King who was buried in the Abbey & was the First Patron Saint of England. That now Cathedral Town has History in Buckets & the River Lark flows through it as well as the River Linnet it also has the Nutshell Smallest Pub ??

Seriously, Witches aside (That's Ipswich) Mildenhall is a lovely place. My (british) sister married an American Airman and lived in Brandon for a while. (She now lives near Charlotte SC)
Lovely place. I'm a trucker and always thought it funny when delivering locally (including both air bases) when the farmer used to say "Oil old moi torch up and yool just ed for the beam".
The delivery point was in the middle of the fields at night !!
I lived in Brandon and we'd hitchhike to Mildenhall as 13 yr olds from Lakenheath. Sweet times...
Journeys to Bury St Edmonds for fish and chips on the weekends too. Air force brat here!!!
I have lived in Mildenhall almost all of my life, so it's nice to see my hometown through the eyes of another. However, lots of the businesses you showed, including both banks, have closed down.

Thank you for sharing, it was lovely to see Mildenhall. I haven't really visited that part of the country before. I live in Birmingham. I wouldnt mind planes going over, I am on tbe flight path for Birmingham Airport.

Depressing how everything is closed and deserted because of COVID. Otherwise, Mildenhall is always crowded.
My Home I’ve always lived in Mildenhall and still do since I was 6
If I'm up that way I always drive by and see planes and go up to Lakenheath
I was actually born at Lakenheath afb in '78 (I now live in NJ USA) and visited in '90 I believe. My family and I stayed at a Travelodge in Mildenhall. There was some sort of restaurant right in front of it. I don't remember what it was. Wondering if it's still there. Fantastic video!!
I was disappointed to not see Snushalls Fish and Chips, which my friends and I used to frequent as young Airmen at RAF Mildenhall back in the early 70s. But then I saw on TripAdvisor that Mildenhall Fish and Chips is the old Snushalls.
I lived with my family, the last house on queens way, torn down for housing development, they reused the rock walls as accents in the new homes.
this video makes it look very friendly to nature. right now its hard to agree with that in 2022 lmao

Just to be that British elephant in the room it's a gorgeous town and beautiful place how ever most towns in England are sadly borded up sess pitts of derelict shops poor street maintenance homeless people begging on street corners especially the local shops and supermarkets and kids who have little respect for anyone or any thing. I'd give anything as a British person to live there but it's clearly a very affluent area and would cost a fortune to live there
I don't recognize that view of England at all. The places with visible homeless / beggars tend to be otherwise affluent towns where the beggars are not locals e.g. Cambridge, London, etc.

Like i said there's some lovely places but I can also name some rite sess Pitt of derelict towns too

Most small English towns are not like this. Most of them are run down and barren. I hope you realize that Mildenhall and Lakenheath are kept nice with plenty of amenities simply because Americans are there and pay money to maintain the prosperity.
You really mustn't generalise things like this, my job takes me all over the UK and yes there are run down areas but most places aren't and there's plenty of towns like this all over the country.

Yeah this isn’t true. And mildenhall has its ups and downs. At several points in time there have been high numbers of closed down businesses.
