    If someone was going to give me a puppy as a gift, I would want to (a) choose it, and (b) name it. It seems kind of strange (and I would add "off about") when a person hands someone else a new puppy that they themself picked out, and then informs the recipient of the name the giver has already chosen for someone else's pet. It takes part of the joy and fun out of the entire process.

      La penso come lei. Io penso che non si dovrebbe mai regalare un animale se non si sa se la persona davvero se ne può e se ne vuole prendere cura. Nessuna eccezione per i bambini. O i genitori educano bene il figlio a prendersene cura o se ne prendono cura loro. I bambini se sono troppo piccoli certo non se ne prenderanno cura e a volte qua do sono grandi non se ne vogliono assumere la responsabilità. Un cane non é un bel regalo e peluche. Bisogna stargli dietro.

    I have always grown up with rescue dogs, even in the 60’s my parents got rescues. My son got his own dog (we already had a beautiful boy that we shared) when he was 6, a beautiful red Australian kelpie named Rusty, who knew that he was my son’s dog, slept with him and protected him. Having a dog, or any pet, teaches children how to respect, care and have compassion for animals. I have volunteered with animal rescue and at one stage we had 5 little darlings living with us and it was my idea of heaven. All gone now, leaving massive holes in my heart that will not heal until I see them again. My son is also an animal lover, he is extremely placid but told me that he would never stand by and witness anyone hurt an animal, he would physically get in their face and even hurt them if he had to, to protect an animal.

    These video are of course adorable. But as someone who works in animal rescue, please PLEASE do not gift someone a puppy. A puppy is a HUGE commitment and a ton of work. Taking on a puppy is a decision a person needs to make for themselves. So many gifted puppies end up abandoned in animal shelters. Some of these are parents giving puppies to their children, and of course that's different because the parents are taking on the responsibility, but do NOT gift a puppy to someone you don't live with or aren't willing to take responsibility for yourself.

    • @Otte74
      @Otte74 9 месяцев назад +19

      Thank you - my 1st thought. And even if someone talks about "how nice it would be to get a puppy" - I would prefer an Italian greyhound over a bernese 🤷🏻‍♀️ There is a difference between a kuvacz and a teckel... Also a present for christmas is not some good idea - even if parents buy a Pet for their children. Because it's christmas time, everything is a little bit different... Wait until new year or buy the Pet in november.
      Oh, and never buy from a puppy mill! Go to your local shelter or - if you really want a puppy - ask a breeder with one or two different breeds. Wath how the dogs live (and how they are integrated in the family). When you see the Mother acting normal with her humans and her puppies, this is a big thumbs up 👍🏻

I said no I don't want them why didn't you ask me first etc. etc. and they had to take them with them because I refused to. I don't know how to take care of fish. And I've always had cats. I choose to purchase from a breeder. When you get an animal from a rescue group or humane society, they literally know nothing about it. The dog could be aggressive under certain condition, it could have neurological problems, you just never know what might be wrong. Whereas you buy from a breeder and they know the animal. They know the parents of the animal you're wanting. They can tell you all about their breeding history. I just prefer that.

    It's puppy heaven 😂 But heartbreaking because one day they go over the rainbow bridge and it's too soon and you have a big gaping hole.

    Why do ppl name puppies they are getting rid of. Let the new owners name their puppies. Thats a personal thing. i would not keep a name someone else gave my puppy.

    for those of you saying "DO NOT GIFT A PUPPY!" most of these people had been asking for a puppy or talking about getting one for a long time.

    Lots of fun to watch, but puppies as Christmas presents result in so many dogs in shelters it is alarming. Not to say that it should not happen because sometimes the timing works out that way but to just show up and hand someone a dog on Christmas without them participating is NOT something any reputable breeder will be party to. Responsible breeders want to meet the new owner and ask a bunch of questions to verify the puppy is going to a good home. Most will not without meeting the new owner several times and watching them with the litter so they can help pick out the puppy with the right temperament and drives for the intended owner. If they do not do this, you are dealing with a puppy mill and should run as fast as you can.

    My problem is you don't bite anybody a dog unless you are willing to take that dog on. The problem with all these people Is those same people turn around and take those dogs to shelters That are too full and Cannot take anymore, so they throw them in the streets. That is my thoughts on this video

      @@scotthix2297 Agree with you, One doesent cry from joy ,otherwise. I prefer, going to a shelter(all my cats, in heaven or those who are with me now) ,are"throw away annimals".they give much love.I strongly believe,these people on the video,will care for their pets.

      It seems that most of the people in this video had pets before and they either died from old age or illness. That means they cared for their pets and will do the same for these. But I agree 100% if you can't give a pet the time, care, discipline and love don't get one because it's a huge responsibility.

      I Always Wonder why they buy Kittens or puppies for someone Who is seventy or more years old. I really do hope that someone from the Family Takes the pet in,in Case something should Happen to the new owner. Here in Europe we say, animals are not a Christmas / Birthday present You really should know what you do, it's a living creature, Sometimes a really Long living.

      @@susanne1959 I research the dog before I even get one. I want to now the breed not just say it is so cute Ima love it to death. And then take it back because I can do nothing with it. Plus I would not hand someone a dog they don't understand.
