So it was explained to me years ago that Buddhism followers are in fact atheists? Believe in nature as their guiding spirit? The Indians, American type, are similar in their reverence to nature but they believe in a supreme being, and spirits. It’s the Hindu faith that believes in reincarnation but they believe in God as far as I know. I am Catholic for the record.

The non-Catholic Antipope John Paul II and his Vatican II sect would have you stay in your false religion.
Antisaint John Paul II the Great Wretch, General Audience, Jan. 11, 1995: “I gladly take this occasion to assure those who follow the Buddhist religion of my deep respect and sincere esteem.”
“Cardinal” Joseph Ratzinger [the future Antipope Benedict XVI], Co-Workers of the Truth, 1990, p. 217: “The question that really concerns us, the question that really oppresses us, is why it is necessary for us in particular to practice the Christian Faith in its totality; why, when there are so many other ways that lead to heaven and salvation, it should be required of us to bear day after day the whole burden of ecclesial dogmas and of the ecclesial ethos. And so we come again to the question: What exactly is Christian reality? What is the specific element in Christianity that not merely justifies it, but makes it compulsorily necessary for us? When we raise the question about the foundation and meaning of our Christian existence, there slips in a certain false hankering for the apparently more comfortable life of other people who are also going to heaven. We are too much like the laborers of the first hour in the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Mt. 20:1-16). Once they discovered that they could have earned their day’s pay of one denarius in a much easier way, they could not understand why they had had to labor the whole day. But what a strange attitude it is to find the duties of our Christian life unrewarding just because the denarius of salvation can be gained without them! It would seem that we - like the workers of the first hour - want to be paid not only with our own salvation, but more particularly with others’ lack of salvation. That is at once very human and profoundly un-Christian.”
Jesus says preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:16) and that those who do not believe are condemned. The Vatican II sect condemns this which is obviously heresy.
Antipope Francis, April 30, 2015, Discourse to Cursillos movement: “One thing I would like to say to your Movement: you have not proselytized! This is a virtue...”
Antipope Francis, August 7, 2013, Video message for the feast of St. Cajetan: “Do you need to convince the other to become Catholic? No, no, no!”
The true Catholic Church says that her teachings must be believed and that those who deny them are alien to her.
Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum (# 13), June 29, 1896: “You are not to be looked upon as holding the true Catholic faith if you do not teach that the faith of Rome is to be held.”
Pope Leo XIII, Dec. 8, 1892: “Everyone should avoid familiarity or friendship with anyone suspected of belonging to masonry or to affiliated groups. Know them by their fruits and avoid them. Every familiarity should be avoided, not only with those impious libertines who openly promote the character of the sect, but also with those who hide under the mask of universal tolerance, respect for all religions...”
Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum (# 9), June 29, 1896: “The practice of the Church has always been the same, and that with the consenting judgment [i.e. consensus] of the holy fathers who certainly were accustomed to hold as having no part of Catholic communion and as banished from the Church whoever had departed in even the least way from the doctrine proposed by the authentic Magisterium.”

I am a devout Catholic and I loved it. Very sad at the end yet when he was ordained it was a great moment. He is in Heaven for sure. Great to see Mel Gibson back on screen. Can’t wait for sequel to the Passion. I do think that some films like King Of Kings and Jesus of Nazareth were important so those that are not of our faith know the entire history.

Can't wait to watch this film. Before I imagine someone should make a film about Father Donald Calloway, his dark and God-less past and how the Blessed Virgin Mary converted him to the Faith. I think making Father Stu has achieved this. An answered prayer on my part. 🙏

Unfortunately ordinary life in our current culture is filled with these elements of crass language and godless living. Father Stu said in an interview, he went to church for the first time and saw a stained glass window with an angel with a sword standing over a red man...he new so little about Christianity that he didn't even know about the devil ! This fits with people today, who think Genesis is a rock band and nothing else! Hopefully this movie will help swing the culture out of satan's corner and back to living in the light of God, just as the transforming of Fr.Stu's life!

Please forgive me for my long comment, probably should have submitted it to a newspaper, instead of potentially causing your computer screen to lag.
Father Stuart Long reminds me a whole lot of 2 Archdiocese of Cincinnati pastors: Father Dan Schuh and Father James Brooks.
Father James was Pastor of @St. Margaret of York Catholic Church, Loveland, OH. He wasn't like Father Stu in the former life, but he was very dynamic, full of energy. His homilies and sermons were loud, full of passion, and, if someone or the parish has his notes or transcripts, please post them for the world to see and be blessed by them. He was barely Pastor when he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, but what a legacy, what a gift he was and is!
Another gift of God is Father Dan. He was the Shepherd at St. Susanna's, Mason, OH; he more closely resembles Father Long.
Both were heavier men; both energetic and down to earth; both, if the film is correct, worked in grocery store environments. . .Father Dan was a manager at Kroger stores in the Beavercreek, OH area; both had a love for sharing humor. . .one can only imagine the Dad Jokes and Yogi Berraisms (Yogi Berra type sayings of wit, that which he was known for) exchanged at the lunch table. Both, for reasons of Providence we continue to reflect on, had muscular diseases.
I, to this day, could see the essentially quick decline of Father Schuh with ALS; he went from his figure, to losing many pounds and using a cane, to having a stool at Consecration, to the eventual motorized chair he said entire Liturgies in.
Yet like Helena's hero, all 3 lived his illness with God's Grace. They showed true, authentic death with dignity, the "Good Death" that invalidates all thought for euthanasia and assisted suicide. They continued their priesthood with a greater aura of Heaven, at times, in the heat of trial, resembling Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego with the Son of God in the furnace. All were filled with the Holy Ghost and the Joy that Completes.
Although I personally saw Fathers Dan and James (Father James was one of the 1st confessors I went to after over a decade away from the sacrament), I am forever impacted by them.
Should I ever be called and given the collar, the yoke of priesthood, may I be just as energetic, humble, simple, profound as those 3 holy musketeers.
Praise our God, our Jesus, for His priests and these 3 men, I pray are worthy of cult and Heaven. May their witnesses and stories always be remembered!
Aside, and I promise almost done here:
Father Dan Schuh was a husband, father, and grandfather before he was ordained. His wife, oddly enough, gave a kind of foreshadowing of the way he'd die of terminal illness; she had cancer yet she too was full of a peace this world could not give.
Clearly marriage makes the two the one flesh, for he no doubt took her as his wife and mentor of true, good death, embrace of Resurrection. I kid, but I'm also serious: I'd love to raise a family of my own and, if my wife did die before me, it's off to the seminary after the cemetery.
Better yet, may she die after me, years after I, first a husband, am ordained an Eastern Rite Deacon or priest.
And, with this I close, asking their intercession, praying for their salvation, and requesting Sts. John Vianney, John Chrysostom, Jerome, Augustine, Cyril & Methodias, Our Lady, Theotokos, and all saints and Angels to join us in our praise and petitions for our great, almighty God.

What I find interesting about people in 'general' is the difficulty/struggle with language or sexual situations, in a film. I personally, don't appreciate 'gratuitous' foul language/sexual situations in a film. If those things are in context, I have no problem at all but some do and I think those folks are missing the point of our lives; to learn and grow beyond 'this' existence. I have friends and family that would not view "Saving Private Ryan" why, because it was rated "R". Denying our reality is stunting our growth and cheats not only us; but God as well...

The critics are crapping on this movie but its hard to know if its just because its a faith based movie. The cheesy God's not Dead franchise kind of deserved the heavy criticsm. They're even giving Father Stu a lower rating than infidel which was a mess of a film in every way. Moonlight was adored by critics and its one of the most boring films. Agreeing with Father Tolleson about Suffering we are called to suffer with Christ in this life some of us to the point of death like his disciples and I would even say Father Stu Although Stu was not a martyr for Christ he died before his old age. I have Chrons disease at 53 years old and was having tremendous suffering with intense stomach pain accompanied with 15-20 bowel movements at a time for almost a whole year and this happened twice and both times I cried out to Jesus to please take me from this earth ............I would dread every night a this would happen when I would lay down to go to sleep and I would suffer all night long until the early hours of the morning. I just went into remission in early March of this year and God reminded me of Lazurus and told me that my illness was not meant for death but for his GLORY....as servants of CHRIST we must remember that it is our Job to reach this LOST sick world with the LOVE and Testimony of Jesus in the DARKEST of places like the brother said in the film........As servants of Jesus we have TARGETS on our backs which Satan will shoot his flaming arrows and we must yield the WORD of God, the Armour of God (Ephesians 6;2) to extinguish the flamming arrows of the Devil...........Have you Consider Gods Servant Heath????????? I am up for the task and no one has Suffered like Job if yall know that story in the Word..........peace and blessings in the New year Yall - !st corinthians 13 Brother Heath

Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.
Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation.

If I had to rate your interview from 1-10 you would be a 5. The movie was totally researched on Father Stu. It was true to who he was. It is not for children. Father Schmitt on his podcast made it clear this is not for kids. It’s rated R.

A movie about the story of Saints Perpetua and Felicita. Not only would that be challenging to produce (you could also go the extra mile and use their original Latin language a la Mel Gibson!) BUT you could also bring the PRO-LIFE message on the screen in HOLLYWOOD (check out their story and you"ll see what I mean!) with that kind of movie. I don’t know if your assertion is currently true, or not. However, most people’s conversion process is in stages- not necessarily all at once.
...When Jesus healed the blind man He put mud in his eyes a few times, and then told him to wash up, and then told him to go present himself to the local priest at the temple.
...Jesus could have healed him with a finger snap.
Father Stu’s conversion was in stages-as you will see in the film .
Be thankful for the transformation that’s happened with Mark Wahlberg. One that is continually happening and unfolding - and avoid scandal, gossip and speculation.
