The first stamp book was in fact issued in 1902 in the reign of Edward 7th and cost 2 shillings and contained stamps to the value of 1/11 1/2d, the odd halfpenny being a contribution towards the cost of production of the booklet. There was 3 panes of 6 1d stamps and 2 panes of 1/2d stamps, one of which contained a "St Andrew's Crross" in place of a stamp. This was discontinued as it was realised that the "St Andrews Cross"stamp could be mistakenly used by a blind person as a postage stamp and subsequent booklets contained the full value of the stamps.
