Great vid! I was lucky enough to see Freddie’s album when it came to Melbourne. I noticed then - and I saw again in this video - that he seemed to like arranging stamps symmetrically on a page. Look how he has those two Hungarian triangular stamps dancing on angles. They want to break free 🎵 😄
Thanks Punk!! I loved the way he organized his stamps, and the fact that there’s an artistic element to it. It’s a kind of magic that stamps bring out in people, I would say 🤔 🎶
Wow what an incredible insight into someone's life! I can imagine Freddie in all the hustle and bustle of his life looking forward to sitting down to relax and enjoy some peace with his stamps. I know I do that for sure haha!
It really is an interesting look into Freddie’s young life. It is really special that his father decided to sell the collection and not just discarding it, such a cool experience to see it. 😊 Thanks for watching!
My dog’s named Freddie Mercury and I recently started collecting stamps. I had no idea that he was a stamp collector and this was fun to watch. Thank you for this video!
My wife visited the UK twice - I never had the honor. So I will die with a hole in my soul. Thank you for the digital presentation for us out here at the southern tip of Africa to also enjoy. This is so interesting. Most boys collected stamps in the 60's including myself and it makes for a brotherhood. I envy you your job. Keep up the great work it is extremely important for the preservation of human culture.
WONDERFUL video! Thanks Graham and the Postal Museum. I love, love Queen, and Freddie Mercury. His collection was very artistic on the black pages, and very neat and symmetrical. The stamps are good quality stamps. Freddie surely was a bit of a perfectionistic artist. It shines through. I'm looking forward to your next video with bated breath, Graham! 🙂🤩
Thank you Charnie 😊. Queen is one of my all time fav bands, so this was so cool to see and film. Freddie certainly had that artistic talent, the stamps pop on the pages and I was totally impressed with the presentation of it all. 😊 Thanks so much for watching, a few more videos to come soon.
Another great interesting vid..Who would have thought that some famous musicians collected stamps. I'm wondering when did the HAWID mounts were born.? 1st came those stamp albums with hinges..would be good to discover the history. Thanks again Graham.
Thanks Roger 😊! It’s awesome that Rock stars collected stamps, it certainly is a hobby for everyone. I don’t know when the HAWID mounts were first made available 🤔 I’ll have to look into it.
Thank you. 😊 The Postal Museum in London is totally worth visiting, just the Mail Rail on its own is something special, and then there is still a whole museum of postal wonders to explore. Thanks so much for watching!
Is this real life? Is that just a postage stamp?😂😂😂What a cute episode, Freddie has always been linked to Art/Culture, congratulations on the video Graham and congratulations to the Museum for rescuing history ❤
@@ExploringStampskeep doing great work like this:) i love your videos and now started binge watching them(i missed few of them literally for months) will get back to stamps learning session
I love how it's the Hungarian page that is shown the most (other than the F page) on display and in the video 🤭 Lucky for us we had those triangular stamps what made that page pretty and unusual
I always look forward to your videos, which have so much wonderful content! I especially like the deep museum archive dives as I used to work in an art museum and there was so much "better" stuff hidden away from everyone than was on display.
this is another excellent video Graham!👌thank you! do more like this! current personalities who collect stamps, i read somewhere that tennis star maria sharapova collects stamps (i might be wrong trying to recall my memory).
Great video Graham. I wonder how many artists have collected stamps in their youth. John Lennon is one, interesting. But for sure many more, Mick Jagger maybee😊Stamp collecting was and is the king of the hobbies.
I was in one time in a concert and am still a big fan of the music. I can remember that he collected stamps, but it was the first time I saw his collection and that it still exists. Interesting.
Collecting stamps was one of my hobbies. I did it for fun. I couldn't care less about how much they were worth, etc. To me the most important thing was: Do they come from an obscure, i.e. interesting country? I also loved the UK colonial stamps, the People's Republic of China, the USSR, North Korea and Africa. For example.
It has occurred to me that there isn't anyone to give my collection to that would really enjoy it after I'm gone. So maybe when I hit a certain age I will donate it to a stamp collecting group to be shared among its members. It really isn't loaded down with stamps that bring a lot of money on the open market but rather ones that I find personally interesting. I've learned that I enjoy it more to have a smaller amount that I feel strongly about rather than a big bulky group of stamps that take up space in books I don't look at.
Thanks Buzzawuzza, I'm the same. I will probably donate the bulk of my stamps and narrow it down to a small collection that is very special to me. :) I just haven't figured out what that small collection is yet.
You can view them in high quality on the postal museum’s website, and page through the album. It would have been a bit too long to show each page in this video unfortunately.
I knew about John Lennon's childhood stamp collection and Freddie Mercury's. How many other Rock n' Roll stars collected stamps? ( A special note to famous Rock stars: if you collected stamps as a child, hang on to your childhood stamp albums. They may become your most valuable asset.)
It was a pleasure to have you Graham and to showcase one of our archives hidden treasures. ☺
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the museum and can't wait to visit again in the near future. Thank you so much for this opportunity 😊
Świetnie zmontowany materiał,ciekawy film ,ciekawe znaczki.Pozdrawiam.

Cool. Freddie lives on, not just in his music and in the hearts of his fans, but in his stamps, too. 🎤 🎹 👑

Thank you Kelvi 😊 Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a fun episode, really amazing to see Freddy Mercury's collection and how he had arranged them. Thanks for sharing!
😊 Thanks Lisa! This was such a cool moment for me to see his collection, Freddie did a wayyy better job at presenting his stamps than I did.
This was so cool! It makes me even more excited about visiting The Postal Museum in the future!
Absolutely! And you have to do the mail rail, it is so well done you will totally enjoy it 😊. Thanks so much for watching.

Welcome! Thanks for watching 😊
New video. New video. New video❤

Nice! Interesting to find out that well-known people are, well uhm...people and sometimes also collect stamps😅 Thanks again Graham!
That’s a great way to put it! Well known people are indeed people, with childhoods that could include stamp collecting 😊 Thanks for watching Kees!
Great information did not know they had Freddy stamps 👍👍👍👍👍👍🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲🇭🇲😎
Thank you 😊 😎

Thank you so much 😊. Yeah the archives is where all the good stuff is usually hidden, I totally need to do more of this, thanks for watching!!
I started collecting stamps via comic book order a long time ago!
It was a special time in the hobby when you could order stamps via comic book order, very cool 👏
this is another excellent video Graham!👌thank you! do more like this! current personalities who collect stamps, i read somewhere that tennis star maria sharapova collects stamps (i might be wrong trying to recall my memory).
Thank you 😊. Yeah that would be cool! I think you are correct about Sharapova, also apparently Patrick Dempsey collected stamps as well. Who else?
Our late Queen Elizabeth and Her grandfather King George V.
Hi Graham, that was great! Wish I had known about the museum when I was last in London, years ago. Makes me now want to plan a new trip! 💌 📫📬
Thank you Susan. Next time you are there, the Museum is totally worth visiting! You would love it :D. Thanks so much for watching.
Great episode. Freddie & Queen have also featured on UK stamps.
Indeed they have, I love the latest UK set and also have the earlier (and semi controversial) Freddie stamp
Fantastico video Parabéns y obrigado por compartilhar

Yes it is the king of hobbies! 😊
Hmm, i bet that Lady Gaga and Keanu Reeves were stamp collectors… oh definitely Dwayne ‘the Rock’ Johnson!
I was in one time in a concert and am still a big fan of the music. I can remember that he collected stamps, but it was the first time I saw his collection and that it still exists. Interesting.
Oh Epic! You’ve seen him live on stage 😃. He is a performer that I WISH I could have seen. Thanks so much for watching
Saw this at a stamp show in Toronto decades ago!
Freddie Mercury is known for many memorable quotes and statements. One of his most famous quotes is:
"I won't be a rock star. I will be a legend."
And a legend he is! 😎

Yup 😊🇮🇳
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
@@ExploringStamps I always enjoy your videos!
I find it interesting to see which famous people are collectors.
Same! We need to get a full list of philatelic celebs, probably several more than we already know. 🤔
Very interesting

Philately is the hobby of Kings
And rockstars
@@ExploringStamps And from the article it said Freddie Mercury was not interested in Philately
