  • Sūrat ash-Shams (Arabic: الشمس‎, "The Sun") is the 91st sura of the Qur'an with 15 ayat. It opens with a progression of grave vows sworn on different cosmic peculiarities, the first, "by the sun", gives the sura its name, then, at that point, on the human spirit itself. It then portrays the destiny of Thamud, a previously prosperous terminated Middle Easterner clan. The prophet Saleh encouraged them to venerate God alone, and directed them in God's name to safeguard a specific she-camel; they resisted and kept on dismissing his message, and God obliterated them all with the exception of the people who had followed Salih.
