  • Sūrah Yā-Sīn (additionally Yaseen; Arabic: سورة يس‎) is the 36th section (surah) of the Quran. It has 83 stanzas (ayahs) and is one of the Meccan surahs, albeit a few researchers keep up with that section 12 is from the Medinan period.[1] The name of the part comes from the two letters of the primary refrain of the chapter,[2] which has caused a lot of academic discussion, and which Tafsir al-Jalalayn, a Sunni exposition (tafsir), deciphers by saying, "God knows best what He implies by these [letters]."[3] Yasin is likewise one of the names of the Prophet Muhammad, as revealed in a truism of Ali, "I heard the Courier of God say, 'Verily God has named me by seven names in the Quran: Muhammad [3:144; 33:40; 47:2; 48:29], Ahmad [61:6], Tā Hā [20:1], Yā Sīn [36:1], thou enwrapped [alhi3:1], thou who workmanship covered [al-Mudaththir; 74:1]
