TKS Iyengar’s, a passion enterprise spanning three generations of a family came as a breath of fresh air to Bengaluru's tiffin culture with time honoured recipes that were hitherto confined to homes. Not surprisingly, this charming refreshment house became an instant hit when they opened doors a year ago. However, the current covid situation has brought all that to nought, and left the family with no staff and barely any business to make ends meet. However, rather than buckle down, the ladies of the house aided by their menfolk are doing all that it takes to keep their traditions alive, from manning the stoves to serving customers to keeping house. I savour a delicious homestyle Iyengar meal on a recent visit, and while doing so said a silent prayer, hoping that eateries like TKS Iyengar’s survive these turbulent times. For if not, we would be much poorer in losing the rich, ancient culinary traditions of our land. Take care and stay safe.

A sumptuous homestyle meal, choose from the savoury, onion-laced akki roti or poori-saagu combination to begin your lunch. There is plenty more on the plate, a crunchy kosambari laced with asafoetida, a palya or vegetable, a hearty lentil and spinach fortified soppina saaru that is to be savoured with the fiber-rich Rajamudi rice, palav and mosaru anna. And to end your meal, a payasam for the day. All this for Rs. 100 only!

Please stay safe. The situation is getting out of hand in Bangalore. Buy an N95 mask. I would not risk my life to visit any of these restaurants during these times of pestilence. Kindly do take aways and eat from the comfort of your home if you can. The government does not care and the healthcare department is overwhelmed. All this litany about Bangalore having controlled the epidemic was a sham. The indolent officials of the government did nothing to step up the testing infrastructure. A lot of doctors are literally going down on their knees and requesting people to stay home. The shit has hit the ceiling and the worst is yet to come. This might sound like a harangue and hope this does not turn into forum into a political slugfest. Stay safe.

Thanks for all your videos but I could not join you for the mouth watering south Indian dishes. I just recollected MTR Lal bagh when I was in Bangalore during leave. I am of the strong conviction that Bengaluru has the best pure South Indian Vegetarian Restaurants. The recent one is that of Iyengars. I only envy those who reside these famous restaurants. I wish them all the best and pray to the Almighty to give bless them with long and healthy life.
I always love having breakfast at TKS and their sweet pongal is just out of this world! Very courteous people also their food is very reasonably priced! Just 2 mins walk from my house!

Really sir, it's a new normal situation. I felt very bad when I saw TKS empty. We used to wait a lot for getting food here. I wish the consumers visit again soon. They do serve food by online delivery (swiggy). Getting home food like TKS is difficult now a days

I visited this restaurant for lunch today during my vacation from Chennai to Bangalore , It was really awesome. Homely food, after ordering lot of dishes I was shocked to see the bill amount as it is only 350 for three people with full stomach 😀 Thanks Kripal for introducing these restaurants to all.

Great vid 👌 can't wait to try this hotel next time I visit to Bangalore, but there are a few ingredients that are not in a typical Karnataka Brahmin cuisine eg. Tomato instead of that we use lemon or tamarind paste
