Niacinamide 10% is a very high concentration, my skin can't stand it and I broke out. I confess that the first week I used too much, and pimples even appeared on my neck and eyelids and was never prone to acne, so it wasn't a purge, it was a reaction to too much product. Today I am using only 2 drops diluted with my hyaluronic acid serum and it works great!
Hey Suzu thanks for sharing! Absolutely sometimes our skin doesn’t agree with a products formulation. You should definitely try a different brand’s Niacinamide. I have had hundreds of clients with different skin types and conditions use other brand’s Niacinamide with an even higher concentration amazing results, no breakouts. I would recommend that to only use a few drops in your skin as if you apply too much to your skin you will get a milky color texture which means you’ve applied too much which may result in your skin becoming even drier than usual. With this product you have to build it up over time. It’s a fantastic product, and has personally made me stop breaking out with daily whiteheads
I use one drop each for two cheeks and forehead .but when I rub it in my face it gets milky but when I pat it on my face it gets absorbed without getting milky .. am I using too much?
@@Bahnishikha_Das Try applying 1 drop to the palm of your hand and rub into your face instead on dry skin. See if that makes a difference. If not pat into the skin. Either way it will absorb. I personally use 2 drops into the palm of my hand and massage into my skin, but I also apply excess to my neck and chest area. I then finish with my moisturiser

It also gives me burning sensation n abrasions at start I actually stopped using it. For weeks. After some time I started using cerave moisturizer on wet face . I made my skin glow n hydrated. One day I again some how started applying again niacinamide zn again n wow since two bottles finished. M using twice a day after cerave on wet face. Niacinamide is great on paper and I heard so many amazing reviews, wanted to try it so much because it should be perfect for my skin and my concerns, however Ordinary's Niacinamide + zinc broke me out every time I used it. I suffered in the beginning thinking it was purging but I know my skin and I realized it's not purging and it was just getting worse. I stopped using it.. gave it chance again after about a month.. broke me out every time I put it on instantly within a day or two even if my face was totally clear at that point. Dunno if that is due to niacinamide in general, or allergic reaction to product, or just bad formulation of from Ordinary but I had only bad experiences. and I wanted to like it so much :(

THank you for this video. I realised that I used AHA and BHA with this serum, and that I just begin with skincare products, which explains why I was having new pimples ! I'll stop using AHA and BHA and apply less of the serum and see if it works
@@j.43 yes ! After a month of use, I have way less whitehead pimples. The product gave me a massive skin purging the first two weeks but it's completely normal. My skin is way smoother. I still have some acne scars and from time to time a little pimple comes out for 2 or 3 days but it definitively out a stop to my breakouts that I was having for the past 4 years

Good to hear! I never got skin purging with it either however my skin is used to actives. When I first started using actives many years ago I definitely remember purging for at least a month.
Thansks to this video, I started using this product 2 weeks ago but stopped using it since a lot of new acne appears on my forehead where it does not usually appear and it hurts 😢 Kinda sad it didn't work on me..
Yeah it’s skin purging. It’s gonna get all the bad stuff out first. It’ll only last a week or two and then you should stop breaking out. I personally bought this product a month ago. I use to get white heads everyday. A week or so later I stopped breaking out, and because it cleans your pores and essentially removes the oil, I was able to drink milk again. Prior to using this, I was unable to drink, or have milk in anything as it would cause me to break out. Take this as your own risk though. Milk isn’t the best thing for your skin overall
@@SkinZoneTV I’m currently not no. I have to be careful what I use on my skin as I am mixed race and a lot of products can irritate my melanocytes. As darker skin we hyperpigmentation a lot quicker especially from irritation. And as my skin is brown, the melon in my skin takes longer to go back to its natural color compared to fair skin tones. I will say I’ve recently been using cold press 100% pure grape seed oil to cleans my face, and using it on my body for a daily moisture as it’s non-comedogenic
Purging has the potential to occur only when a product is formulated with an active ingredient, such as retinol or AHAs, that's scientifically proven to speed up cellular turnover. Niacinamide doesn't fall under that category, so you won't experience purging with it.
Did you actually purge though & then it cleared up? I’ve broken out with big painful pimples. I haven’t had those in a while & they’re so obvious and red, it’s getting aggravating. I have a collection on my right cheek that I can’t seem to clear up

Hello, i was using the ordinary with Niacinamide 10% serum along with Cerave hydrating face cleanser,and Cerave moisterizing lotion both had hyloronic acid in them. I had to return them from Ulta because i was having a reaction to the serum i believe and my skin on my nose still had dryness. I have very sensitive skin and i havent worried abt a skin care routine my entire life until now at 37 yrs old so my skin definitely isnt used to the new ingredients being introduced. I deal with dry skin(we have hard water which causes some issues too),acne,blackheads,and little white bumps almost like white heads alot on different places on face. What would ur suggestions b of face care routine products that will help me but also keep me from reactions/irritation?? Thank u!
I’m not sure what to do. Had 0 pimples, started using this with salycidic acid (however you spell it) and glycolic acid, I finish with Vera ve moisturizer. Now I have about 8 pimples.
I would cut back to introducing 1 active at a time. You’ve introduced 3 new actives, 2 being chemical exfoliants which can cause purging. How often are you exfoliating?

Also I used glycolic acid on my face & neck overall and saw improvement but then next day I saw some acne pus tiny acne bumps on my cheeks and around nose. I used these nicinamide & salicylic on nose & cheeks to get rid of blackheads, enlarged and clogged pores. But I saw after 10% nicinamide oily skin with these white pus filled tiny acne dots.

Is fine because they use ingredients to combine these ingredients together.if you would buy everything seperatly it may cause to break or get into conflict with eachother. My vitamien c has hydralonic acid too so its okay.
Many had❤ breakout may be due to concentration try with 2% but if u had used tertinon creams before may be then 10 will work for you bcz most of impurities are gone so no purging

I had relatively good skin, and then i tried this product. Red bumps all over my face, irritation, whiteheads. It also burned a little when applying first few times. Definitely not going to keep using this product.

The first few times I used the serum my skin felt great and extremely hydrated and I didn’t feel any irritation. Then I didn’t use it regularly for a few days (maybe a week) and suddenly it started stinging a little between my eyebrows and it also started drying out my skin and I got a few pimples. Also I am not using it every day because of this, maybe once in two or three days. So I really don’t understand which of the two it is. Did anyone have a similar experience?
so, my skin is super sensitive, acne prone and i use the ordinary like a week ago. Now my face is full of acne, should i stop or continue using the the ordinary niacinamide 10% + 1% zinc? I dont even want to go out anymore, i stay home since the 3rd day as my face is full of acne. I am kinda depressed right now as my skin was kinda clear before i use this.
Oh no that is horrible this happened and you feel this way. Purging can last 4-6 weeks, so it’s up to you however completely understand if you stop use. I would try a different niacinamide as it is usually an excellent ingredient to help with sensitivity.

Hey there, you don't need to use both salicylic acid masque and glycolic acid at the same time. Too much. You can use your niacinamide serum after the salicylic acid masque as you wash this one off the skin but I wouldn't be applying the glycolic toner after the masque x If your skin is burning when applying skincare, you may have an impaired skin barrier which you will need to stop actives and work on repairing the skin barrier before introducing any actives again. Hey Saima! Don’t mix niacinamide with Vitamin C from the ordinary. I would do: Vitamin C in the morning Niacinamide in the evening Yes you can apply niacinamide after mandelic acid but you don’t need to wait 15mins in-between. A minute or so is fine. Use a small amount of product and you may decide to not use the mandelic acid every night but just a few times per week

Are you using any other serums? Bha at night 2 x per week Niacinamide can be used on alternative nights If your not using anything else in the morning, you can use niacinamide in the morning x
my bha i ordered is called “inkey list beta hydroxy acid serum”. my plan is to start my routine on sunday. first to cleanse, use niacinamide, then moisturize. on monday, cleanse, bha, moisturize. tuesday, cleanse, niacinamide, moisturize. it continues, i also plan to use niacinamide every morning. that rotation is for evenings. by the way, i’m a 15 year old boy, idk my skin type, but i get lots of whiteheads, blackheads on my nose, and acne in general. i’m really trying to be better with my skin with the school year coming up.

Heyy :) which retinol/ retinoid video are you talking about? Niacinamide works well with retinol and can be applied together. Acids should be used separately on a different night. Each brand formulation is different, some brands say you can and some say you shouldn’t. So whilst some brands say you can use acids and niacinamide together ( they are talking about their products) most people use a mix of brands so to be safe we always recommend to use them separately. Can you please suggest me when to use niacinamide serum and vitamin c serum. After getting into my 30's, my skin is behaving differently. I never ever faced skin problems like acne, pimples or pigmentation. But now excessive Whiteheads around my nose and dark patches on the side of my nose. Also the skin is not clear and loosing natural glow. Whatever I use nothing seems to work. I tried Be Minimalist Vitamin C with Hayluronic Serum, but after 4 5 use my skin started to look dark. From what I’ve heard, you aren’t supposed to use vitamin C with niacinamide. You can use one in the morning and one at night, but you shouldn’t use them together.
Had been experiencing cystic acne for four years, and managed to introduce adapalene it worked really well, but I wasn't able to control my hormonal acne and the hyperpigmentation, so I began to use the ordinary niacinamide 10% only once a week. The first week was fine, but the second week on I had severe breakout in my jawline, where I usually get my hormonal acne. Been 5 weeks now, I have no idea if it's purging or a bad reaction, do I need to stop using it or give it sometime to heal?
Haha, fhats how i feel now. I got 2 two pimples one with whitehead top. However, im hesitating to stop or bot because I got it while i was on my period. I apoly 1 drop and dap in my skin. it most likely is purging as 9 days is not long. But up to you :) You can push through and if the breakouts are still occurring after 6 weeks then you can stop use.
Aquaphor on the area at night!!! Applied to CLEAN skin. This is called slugging. Keep in mind anything that is applied under aquaphor will become stronger as you are locking it into your skin, use gentle ingredients underneath so as to avoid irritation. Aquaphor will not break you out. I’m extremely acne prone and have been using it on my face for years. Good luck!
Not as many reports of breakouts with the hyaluronic acid serum! however every skin is different, so you would need to test. If you have a local department store that sells the ordinary you should be able to try the product before purchasing

It’s is possible just be sure to alternate between the two. You do not want to mix the two directly together as this can be to irritating and can cause breakouts
Well I started using 10% nia of different brand and i got acne on cheek where they usually appear its big but i have also used tretinon of higher like 0.4% on cheeks except on forehead and nose so i think its due to retinoid got big pimple with white spot anyways its still good means i need to use higher retinoid concentration bcz 0.025 didn’t work that i had purging very less and i stop using after it was finished and it didn’t work for my jaw line cystic acne 2 on both side 😅
I've been doing this for two weeks now and it's fine. I wash my face with the SA cleanser, put hyaluronic acid on and let it sit for a few minutes and then use one/two drops of this.. I think key is moisturizing properly after.

Salicylic acid and niacinamide aren't normally recommended to use together (depends on the brand) I would try using them seperately (choose a different moisturiser to use with niacinamide)
yes niacinamide 2% will stay have the same benefits, but a higher % will most likely achieve faster results. However it always depends on the product formulation :)

I tried this out yesterday. After 3 hours on my face, I had to go to Wellnow and get steroids. My face turned bright red, bumps, burning & itching.

Many had❤ breakout may be due to concentration try with 2% but if u had used tertinon creams before may be then 10 will work for you bcz most of impurities are gone so no purging

The first few times I used the serum my skin felt great and extremely hydrated and I didn’t feel any irritation. Then I didn’t use it regularly for a few days (maybe a week) and suddenly it started stinging a little between my eyebrows and it also started drying out my skin and I got a few pimples. Also I am not using it every day because of this, maybe once in two or three days. So I really don’t understand which of the two it is. Did anyone have a similar experience?
so, my skin is super sensitive, acne prone and i use the ordinary like a week ago. Now my face is full of acne, should i stop or continue using the the ordinary niacinamide 10% + 1% zinc? I dont even want to go out anymore, i stay home since the 3rd day as my face is full of acne. I am kinda depressed right now as my skin was kinda clear before i use this.
Oh no that is horrible this happened and you feel this way. Purging can last 4-6 weeks, so it’s up to you however completely understand if you stop use. I would try a different niacinamide as it is usually an excellent ingredient to help with sensitivity.

Hey there, you don't need to use both salicylic acid masque and glycolic acid at the same time. Too much.
You can use your niacinamide serum after the salicylic acid masque as you wash this one off the skin but I wouldn't be applying the glycolic toner after the masque x
If your skin is burning when applying skincare, you may have an impaired skin barrier which you will need to stop actives and work on repairing the skin barrier before introducing any actives again.

Hey Saima! Don’t mix niacinamide with Vitamin C from the ordinary.
I would do:
Vitamin C in the morning
Niacinamide in the evening
Yes you can apply niacinamide after mandelic acid but you don’t need to wait 15mins in-between.
A minute or so is fine. Use a small amount of product and you may decide to not use the mandelic acid every night but just a few times per week

Heyy :) which retinol/ retinoid video are you talking about? Niacinamide works well with retinol and can be applied together.
Acids should be used separately on a different night.
Each brand formulation is different, some brands say you can and some say you shouldn’t.
So whilst some brands say you can use acids and niacinamide together ( they are talking about their products) most people use a mix of brands so to be safe we always recommend to use them separately.

From what I’ve heard, you aren’t supposed to use vitamin C with niacinamide. You can use one in the morning and one at night, but you shouldn’t use them together.

Had been experiencing cystic acne for four years, and managed to introduce adapalene it worked really well, but I wasn't able to control my hormonal acne and the hyperpigmentation, so I began to use the ordinary niacinamide 10% only once a week. it most likely is purging as 9 days is not long. But up to you :)
You can push through and if the breakouts are still occurring after 6 weeks then you can stop use.

Aquaphor on the area at night!!! Applied to CLEAN skin. This is called slugging. Keep in mind anything that is applied under aquaphor will become stronger as you are locking it into your skin, use gentle ingredients underneath so as to avoid irritation. Aquaphor will not break you out. I’m extremely acne prone and have been using it on my face for years. Good luck!

Not as many reports of breakouts with the hyaluronic acid serum! however every skin is different, so you would need to test. If you have a local department store that sells the ordinary you should be able to try the product before purchasing

I would cut back on how often you are using salicylic acid. Also you shouldn’t use on the same day as retinol, too much exfoliation :)

It’s is possible just be sure to alternate between the two. You do not want to mix the two directly together as this can be to irritating and can cause breakouts
Well I started using 10% nia of different brand and i got acne on cheek where they usually appear its big but i have also used tretinon of higher like 0.4% on cheeks except on forehead and nose so i think its due to retinoid got big pimple with white spot anyways its still good means i need to use higher retinoid concentration bcz 0.025 didn’t work that i had purging very less and i stop using after it was finished and it didn’t work for my jaw line cystic acne 2 on both side 😅
