I would pay to know how to do various 'Houndini-like Effects in Blender', so please keep posting, these are inspiring and innovative for us blender users.
Hey Kristin! Im glad you enjoy the content! More to come 🙌🕺
You are truly a magician with Blender. SO SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL!!
Haha thank you! Glad I can help! 🙌
Awesome, thanks so much for sharing!
Just found your channel. It is great. Some of the best RUclips tutorials I’ve seen
Hey! Thank you so much! 🙌🕺
Incredible! Amazing end result!
Hey! Thank you so much! Stay tuned! 🙌
Just what I was looking for. Thank you, you magnificent beast 😍
Hey! Thank you so much champ! 🙌😍
thank you for sharing!
Why didn't I find your channel before... its really great..
Thank you Jonas, this is great !
Hey Frosbyte! glad you liked it! :D
If in most tutorials houdini-like effects looks so-so, in this one it looks beautiful. Good job.
Hey Igor! Thank you so much! 🙌
@@JonasRoenn Thank You for this greate tutorial and sharing Your knowledge :)
Sick stuff bro 🔥 great video
Hey! Thanks boss! 🙌
Awesome work!
"Houdini-like Effects in Blender" Should be a series!
Hey Scott! actually planning on doing more effects like this in the future! peeling effects, disintegration, transformations and so on! :D also more geometry nodes set-ups
yes
@@JonasRoenn I started a geonode setup for a recursive volume growth into any shape. I kind of want to take it further and closer to Houdini. I have a short on my channel showing it. Is it possible to brainstorm with you on it sometime?
very cool@@JonasRoenn
Hell yesssss, please supply project files for us noobies to follow along
I didn’t know that this was possible in blender, amazing work
Hey Elysium! Thank you! Also took me a couple of days to figure out 😂
that's crazy, thank you:)
Hey Nelís! glad you liked it! stay tuned for more :D
Nice, thanks for sharing.
hey Baton! :D thanks a lot
Cool bro, thanks for sharing
Hey Raja! Of course 🙌
Loved it :)
Hey again Da! Glad you liked it!
love it
Hey Linus! Glad you liked it 🙌
great tutorial
Thank you ❤️🙌
this is alchemy😀 well done
Hey! thanks, means a lot to me :D
Loving this tutorial. Thank you so much! I'm running into some trouble though when trying to bake the simulation. Blender just stops responding. I'm using 3.5.1 version of Blender. Even if I hit bake or "bake all dynamics" it will just freeze up. Did you run into those kind of issues as well?
Hey! Glad you liked it - try to append all of the objects in an entirely new blend file :) often works for me
Great! Make another one bro!
will do!
wow
Thanks! 🙌
Great, thank you. The proximity weight mapping - is there anyway to add noise to the weight paint, so it’s not a uniform gradient?
Yes there might - have not tested yet 🙌
Hi man super nice video! I was just wondering is it possible to have movement and using the vertex group in shape cloth? Since two cloth modifiers aren’t possible. I can animate the shape first then put the vertex group, but I want a more organic feel and use a cloth that’s being drawn in by a force, and than transforms using the vertex proximity. A cloth on a cloth actually, is this possible?
I can only do this in C4D - but you could always do the first effect then export as alembic and then do the other effect on that alembic file. Not sure how it will work in your case. But you can try.
Thank you! More Houdini like stuff in blender wouls be cool. A nice Oceanwave no one seems to create. Is it Possible?
Hey Mat! Will be making more tutorials with houdini like sims in the future - my main focus for the Channel is to do highly realistic renders with a commercial touch 🙌
great work! how did you change the material from stone to aluminum like material ?
Hey Sticky! Used a gradient node in the shading with a coloramp 😉 you can see the full setup on my patron
@@JonasRoenn thanks 🙏🏽
This is great. I noticed that there was a Geometry Nodes modifier at the bottom of the stack. What did that do? Thanks!
Hey Ed! Glad you liked it 🙌 yeah - the geometry node is actually just driving the shading with a capture attribute node - but you can also do it with a coloramp and gradient texture 🕺 so not affecting the sim 🙌
@@JonasRoenn I became a patron to find out. Nice ploy. 🙂
@@EdTannenbaum Hahah gotta do what i gotta do 😂 nevertheless happy to have your support Ed! Remember that you can always write me if you have any questions 🙌🕺
you didn't show how to set up the box so it reacts to the rock... how do you do that?
how do you do the material transition?
Nice tutorial ! You have a Geometry Nodes modifier in your stack. Is it doing something? Thanks
Hey Bruno! Thanks - it is driving the shading bades on the proximity 😉 but just shading nothing regarding the actual sim
@@JonasRoenn thanks
I tried to make it, but i have totally different result. the new geomwtry is much smaller and then becoming very big, so i do not have this flow so to speak. Can someone please tell me what i do wrong?
what is the geo nodes modifier for?
Driven the texture change 🙌
Hey Jonas, great tutorial, thanks for sharing!
Quick question, where do you assign the material to the cloth object? Might be straight forward, but since I never used this kind of simulation method Im not sure.
Also, is the rock mesh and material a scan or is this done procedurally?
Thanks!
Hey Sam! glad you liked it! actually drove the shading with a mix shader node in material settings and a colorramp keyed to the fac. Don't know if it makes sense? you can also capture the attribute of the vertex group and drive the material transformation that way (via geometry nodes). But as explained in the video, you can access that via my patreon or maybe I will do a tutorial on it at some point :D
The rock is a 3D asset from Quixel Megascans - it's free :D
Hope it helps! and stay tuned for more
@@JonasRoenn Hi man could you send a picture of what these nodes are looking like?
nvm i understand how you do it with the mix shader and colorramp, wanted to know how we do this by capturing the weight data in geonodes! But this works too!
@@user-du4je8id7h Hey! it would be simpler and more accurate with the geonodes actually. And totally possible, I just did this to try it out :D
@@JonasRoenn thx man! But I did like capture attribute in geo nodes of the object, but when I use this attribute data of “Weight” it doesn’t give a response. Checked my naming and stuff. I think I’m missing smth
what about the shaders? how is the cloth part a different shader?
Hey Van - This is a rather simple shading animation done after the sim. You can see the file on my Patreon for yourself ;)
I don't understand what I do wrong. I have problem with Weight Paint. I made my object Red and when empty object comes it doesn't turn into blue colour. Where can I show my screenshots please?
where is the tutorial of this?
How did you uv unwrap and texture the stone?
See on Patreon 😉
@@JonasRoenn Thank you
Amazing! It would be nice to see how u changed the materials while the Simulation
Hey! might do this some day! But the effect can be seen on my Patreon for now.
@@JonasRoenn on patreon have You other tutorial version with materials setup ?
But what or why is there a geo nodes at the end, you did not explain that one
Hey Rombout - it is part of the shading - not affecting the sim itself 😉
Hello J, this is really nice and i appreciate your work and follow it but, it often seems unfinished and rushed and pushing people to Patreon to get the file.
Its nice to have the file and i don't mind subscribing but i watch a tutorial to be able to replicate the end result. This is not doable here unfortunately as I personally don't have experience and wish to learn. So i have no idea how to change the material while doing the cloth and following the weight proximity. :/
Hey! Thanks for the message and your perspective. Have you seen the latest tutorial? 1,5 hour. Does not seem “rushed” to me 😉
As i have said before, my channel is not for complete beginners, so maybe you should start with some other tutorials. Furthermore, RUclips is not my job. I dont earn on it, so naturally i want to direct more serious people over to my patreon where i assist more. 3D is complicated and i can not go through everything in a scene… and i spend days on this one.
Sorry you feel that way cause i do youtube as a passion to provide free Education to people. If you want to get better consider buying a course maybe ;)
I would like to ask how this material was changed。。
Thats for my patreons 😉 you can get the file there and see it 🕺 but it was done in the shading with a coloramp
@@JonasRoenn so cool, i try it
