I’ve had tubes in both my ears when I was a little girl and one fell out on its own the other I had to go in and they took it out. Years later in 2019 I went to ear nose and throat doctor and found out I have hearing loss in both my ears, but in my left ear is a hole in the eardrum from having the tubes it never closed. I was supposed to go back to get it fixed. Here it is 2024 and I could not get the treatment I needed to fix the hole in the eardrum because I lost my health insurance and live paycheck to paycheck. I started Working at a school and I lost my job probably because of my hearing and feeling uncomfortable because sometimes I just couldn’t hear what anyone would say to me, especially in the cafeteria awards . Right now I am in the process of trying to figure out how I can get help because my hearing has gotten a lot worse. This helped a lot and I hope that I can get my ear fixed and get my hearing back. My English has gone downhill as well having hearing loss is not fun. Definitely recommend taking care of your hearing. It takes a toll on you.

To everyone who watched this recently or IS watching because they have a ruptured eardrum...
I was listening to this several weeks back because I had ruptured my eardrum as well and it was bleeding for a day then for 2 weeks all the fluid was coming out every now and then. Also my hearing was muffled and felt like a blockage for almost 3 weeks. But don't worry y'all. They suggested me an eardrop to prevent infection. It healed now almost. My hearing is back to normal now with some blockage that will be cleaned in a few days. Don't you worry eardrums heal BUT remember not to get your damaged ear wet even for a bit. That could cause infections that an lead to permanent hearing loss. Take care. I feel All of You. It WILL heal.

I had mine ruptured a week ago and lost my hearing about 20%. Since then, it has recovered significantly. However, bear in mind a few things, don’t, at all cost make your ear wet as that will promote infection. If possible visit an ENT right away and get prescribed antibiotics. Don’t get a cold as that might delay the process. Eat healthy and take Multi vitamin tabs with high folic acid as that promotes cell growth. Good luck to everyone recovering from ear drum rupture. @@mr.commonsense6645 I've had an ant in my ear before... TWICE! how? the time I remember was when I was eight crawling under my parent's bed to retrieve something that fell and bounced under, and the bed was low enough that I had to put my head sideways with my ear dragging on the ground and breath out then scoot forwards a few inches at a time, and somewhere under there was an ant crawling around on the carpet that made its way into my ear, it was very uncomfortable and loud whenever it touched my eardrum and my eyes watered a little from the pain, my mother used a rubber squeeze bulb to squirt water into my ear to flush it out, so painful as she squeezed very fast, so fast indeed that the little ant was dead and somewhat squished, I was scared afterward that mommy had damaged my eardrum but thankfully it is fine now seven years later. but wow, very thankful my little ant buddy didn't try to chew through my eardrum like carter's dad's beetle.
P.S. if you have kids listen to how they feel if there are loud noises around, I was in a small community center with my parents, and there was a live band playing, and they had loudspeakers set up too, so loud and painful but I couldn't get my parents attention as it was very loud, when I finally did they couldn't hear me and I was too dazed and embarrassed to yell so they would be able to hear me as there were many people around, when I motioned in such a way they understood what I meant daddy told me I could go stand by the door as he and mommy still had lots to look for and so couldn't come with, I didn't have the independence or courage to go by myself at that point, we ended up leaving soon after though as I was shaking badly and hysterical though I hid it well enough that most of the people around hopefully didn't notice, when we got to the car i was sobbing and holding my head and shaking violently, i lost at the very least about twenty percent of my hearing in the one ear i kept turned towards the platform that day. and I never got it back, I also have a ringing in my ear to this day.

Here searching for answers/solutions/ similar experiences.
I wear a hearing aide in my right ear due to an ear infection I had in high school (class of 1984). Today, I'm five days into a cold with congestion and a sore throat. I blew my nose real hard and heard a pop in my right ear. Then it began to ache. I took my hearing aide out. Shortly after, I couldn't hear in either ear! I burped and felt pain in my right ear. I knew that meant ear infection or something. Some things you never forget. Went to the ER, I "popped" a hole in my right ear drum! The pressure closed both ears! WTH?! I was given an anti-biotic. I was told to continue taking all the other over the counter and prescribed meds I got earlier this morning via tele-health. Now my right ear is leaking fluid. Doesn't hurt though. I will thank God for that part. Doc said my left ear should return to normal in a few days. My right ear will not return to the level it was before, which was very low. Hope my Doc can turn up this hearing aid! In the mean time, I have to text my family standing right in front of me. I know sign language but they do not. 🙄🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Here because I’ve got a “perforated” eardrum, my eardrum has pushed the grommet out but hasn’t healed the hole left behind by the grommet, I’m not sure why because every other time the grommet gets pushed out the eardrum usually heals with no problem, but I’m going to my regular ENT in 4 days to see what she says
I’ve had ear troubles for 2 ish years, grommets for 2 years, multiple ear infections this year alone, so I’m used to ear issues-but this is something new. It doesn’t hurt though which I’m so grateful for, it just feels/sounds muffled and the tinnitus is worse on that side

My eardrum got perforated on 12th March. There was no blood or pus discharge. Nor there was any pain. By 19th April it was fully healed. All i did was be on medication of anti-biotic for upto a week, to prevent any infection. Use cotton and a plastic cover sealed with a rubber band while taking a bath. And leaving it dry all the time. Please don't smoke or drink during this time. Be on proper diet. Time heals everything 😊

Back in about 2015 I had an ear infection and was still forced to go to a funeral that was 4 hours away and up in the mountains. Couldn't hear out of my right ear the entire time and when we made it back home, I had a lot of painful twitching. Had an argument with my dad because I was obviously not happy and was in a decent amount of pain. In the middle of me shouting, it felt like I got stabbed in the side of my head by a knife. Parents never took me to the doctor and said I was being dramatic. Went in a couple weeks later for my yearly check up and told my doc to check my ear because I was pretty sure I had ruptured it the weeks before. He confirmed it. I had to go to school while being pretty much deaf in my right ear. Luckily, my ear is fine and as far as I can tell there is no longterm damage to my hearing but time will tell.

@@DrCliffAuD I had gone to a nurse first. She was gentle and used hot water. But could not remove all wax. Due to continued pain i went to see the doctor. Unfortunately he was in a hurry and newly qualified young man. He used cold water and too much pressure. I felt it right away and sure enough a piece of my drum was in the collection vessel. He was baffled at first since it was unusual and not wax. When he examined my eardrum he realized that the ear had became perforated. I dont blame him but the problem is an infection has taken place probably in the inner ear. I can't get to an ENT specialist there is a waiting period of about six months in canada. Been to the doctor several times and used cipro based antibiotic drops. Eventually last week i was prescribed oral penicillin. That helped somewhat but now my hearing is severely impacted. Very important to make note of, that no one talks about, and at 50, had never heard of until it happened to me, is you can perforate your eardrum by blowing your nose! I had Cvd, which turned into a sinus infection w badly blocked sinuses, so had to exert extra pressure to clear my sinus airway. POW! It felt like someone stabbed me in the ear, and that a water balloon had exploded in my ear. Not literally with water, but it’s action simulated it. Have lost half my hearing in this ear, and am now waiting for my Dr appointment. My question is, how do you know if you need surgery? How long do you wait until it’s not ‘getting better’ and can hearing loss be permanent?
    Thanks for all you do!

I ruptured my right ear just yesterday using a Q-Tip. I lost my hearing in my ear maybe about like 30%.
The worst part? Yesterday morning, when I was showering, I put warm water in my ears thinking that would clear my ears out. I didn’t think much of the pain at that time.
Now it hurts so freaking bad. For some reason, it even hurts when I yawn or sneeze. It legit feels like I’m being stabbed inside my ear.

Now I’m in lockdown since two weeks I can’t be able to see a doctor. Before that I cleaned my ears with cotton bud then I listened to music on the one ear . But no pain cases. It’s like my ear closed with a door. Hope you will see my comment here, thanks you in advance.

I was a patient of the same ear perforation. Try consulting your doctor, go to the ENT and get your eardrums scanned, they will monitor the insides of your ear using a mini camera and it will show on a monitor screen for the doctor to see clearly. Thats how you find out if they are healed. Dont be afraid.

I ruptured my ear drum when I was a little kid and it took like 10 years to heal, and I just bursted it again, possibly even worse then before. So far I can still hear and stuff normally I just hope it heals soon, cuz I hate being paranoid about water getting in my ears

Kookloop I had a bunch of water shoot into my ear at a super a speed when it happened so the initial blow didn’t hurt, but it started to hurt a couple hours afterwards and the pain kept growing worse and worse until I just went to sleep. When I woke up the next day I had discomfort with all the water in my ear, but there wasn’t really much pain. So for me, breaking the ear drum didn’t hurt at first, but afterwards is when the pain came. I was inner tubing and I fell off but was still hanging on for a couple seconds and my head was getting drug through the water super fast and water was just blasting into my ear for like a second or 2 straight. Some people I know say it hurt for when they didn’t it like if they swam to deep and the had it pop, but for me it didn’t hurt at first. I had to go get it checked to tell for sure

Okay, so I do a lot of mixing, and the other week I think I listened way too loud -- experiment gone wrong. I could sense my right ear felt uncomfortable and I immediately turned it down. Since then I had been mixing a lot and noticed my right ear would feel uncomfortable after a long amount of mixing. after about a week of that, I decided I should take a break from the noise to my ear. I could feel the discomfort dwindle, but I have so much work I need to do I can't just not mix...
If I caused some minor damage to my ear, is it not good to keep listening even at lower levels? My ear isn't in throbbing pain, but I feel the discomfort especially in the upper mid frequencies.
