I am late to the party but thank you for the video. I was looking for a cold weather bag for my son who is in Boy Scouts. They camp every month and his 30-deg bag with a liner wasn’t enough. I ordered one of these in the Neg 20 rating and I think the big size will be a plus as he can pack his liners and 30-deg bag on a trip and he can use any combination of liners, 30-deg bag and -20 bag alone or together. I hate to think how hot this -20 bag with a 30-deg bag inside plus two liners would be but options when camping in a tent in Jan/Feb make options a good thing. Being able to have arms out or walk while in the bag is a neat feature too.
Thanks. I think this bag will work for me with an insulating pad. I have to deal with rain, too. So the synthetic fiber might be an asset. Also I have a bivvy bag and tent,
I kinda liked the review minus the fact that any video i have watched where the person was experienced would tell you straight up without an insulated pad your back is gonna get cold no matter what because you are compressing all the insulation under you. So in the end you had one huge failure that pretty much negated your outcome.
I found this out by my hammock research. When you lay on any type of bag you compress the insulation rendering it basically useless. That's why hammock users use under quilts, they hang under you so you don't compress the insulation. To be fair, you should have used a high R rated sleeping pad.

Any sleeping bag will crush and have little insulation from the ground if you dont use a high R value sleeping pad.

This was the worst review because he used it on metal and no sleeping pad. You always use a pad with an r value of at least 5 below 32f.
