This song means so much to me. After I came out and told my parents I was gay, this song really described the way I felt & helped me to deal with everything that was going on in my life at the time. Plumb and her music are so amazing, words can do no justice.

I hope your parents are supportive or willing to understand. Let them ask any question & don't dismiss them, even if you are uncomfortable or annoyed. My mother's questions & my respectful response helped her a lot, she was an incredible support. She asked me what I was thinking when I said I liked a country music love song. I asked her what she meant, she said its about a man & a woman,my reply was it was about love. She nodded, smiled and thanked me. I loved her so much and miss her.

I see many people sayin they don't understand the video. To me it looks like the man is struggling to deal with a wealth of issues. He doesn't know how to express what he is feeling so he has chosen to withdraw from his wife and his kid and hide in the numbness of a drunken stupor. He is using alcohol to cope with life. His wife is trying to get his attention in the flashes of him and her cuddling. Those are flashbacks to a time when their love was strong before he turned to booze for answers. The boy is their son and really needs his Dad because he is becoming a man and has nobody to give him a solid example of the kind of man he should be. He is also being neglected by his Mother because she is so distracted by her need to fix Dad's issue. I hope this helps. Just a side note: The son went to a Christian concert and there is a suggestion that he is searching for the missing piece to his life there also.

The husband/wife segment to me is powerful and pretty clear. But I was also a little confused about the teenager segment initially, but the more I thought about it I believe it is about a young person who is also struggling with something and his parents are not acknowledging his pain.

good song indeed.. i was first introduced to Plumb through their self-titled album.. Christian music.. the whole album is a solid play through. except for the bonus track.. not my musical taste.. they followed up with Candy Coated Water Drops.. saw them live and they played one of my favorite jams by them, Crazy ,, she even came through the audience,, i'm not claiming i was her target.. but yeah if i were so bold to accept the microphone during the song.. i could solidly say i got some guest vocals on that track.. found out there was a autograph spot after the show at my favorite music store.. showed up, bought the album,, got it signed,, i went through the musicians at time lucky to get all their signatures.. they couldn't even afford the time.. i wanted to say thanks for provided good enough music to support Tiffany Arbuckle.. thee lead singer of Plumb.. got to her.. hey hey.. yeah thats my name, thats how you spell it.. she was quite welcoming and open.. i forgot what she asked me.. i was just like,, ummm idk.. she signed thanks Jared,, "blessings and hope.." with a smiley face.. i was like gee thanks,, in my head.. i hate my life and myself.. laters.. anyways,, oddly enough their song,, Willow Tree,, was an accurate detailed driving directions to where i lived one time before i was aware of music that supported what i tried to believe.. the name of the street i lived on was Plumb.. i mean in all reality you would end up a house or two off.. okay.. after their first two albums.. they released greatest hits album,, just from the first two albums.. like okay,, what happened to Plumb..?? does this mean their carrier is over.. all i heard from them in the future was this song,, Boys Don't Cry .. i'm so sorry i couldn't afford the time after that until now to make any proper respect for her music.. anyways.. glad i got my name in history at least between me and her,, before i claimed lost of interest in everything.. like she might remember,, that could be cool.. anyways,, don't want to say how old i was,, but yeah when i first saw her for the autograph,, i was like,, hum.. how should i make my first failed proposal for someone to be my wife.. haha!! the effect i have on anyone,, better left unanswered and unasked.. anyways.. ready to fully expose myself for what i believe,, under my names given and chosen,, Jared Batman Lucifer.. an advocate of Jesus Christ.. with no respect for God the father.. with approval of the Holy Spirit/Ghost.. respecter of all worthy Women.. count your blessings,, if any,, with the men.. being represented by myself,, as the embodiment of the Lord.. that Jesus maybe was describing himself as a savior of all who accept,, in his form of Vengeance.. that's me.. so i was like better not talk to her.. anyways.. with all due respect,, boys do cry,, uncontrollably at times.. when no tears appear for anything after years and years.. and sometimes,, often over the most unimportant,, things that don't even have any reality or connections in their life.. but yeah.. when i listen to music, by a female artist or involving their qualified work.. i can't help to not cry.. so with no presence of tears ever listening to Plumb and their entire history of music,, which mentionable enough to say so should be considered her work alone i think.. Tiffany Arbuckle .. Plumb .. but yeah as far as it goes for her work.. Boys Don't Cry.. though i wouldn't mind saying i did cry.. knowing this song is not connected at all. to me.. being released after my involvement with supporting them.. anyways.. this music video,, openly depicts.. her invovlement with her fans,, and its quite nice.. to know her music.. with connections to Jars of Clay,, Smalltown Poets.. and another group,, Switchfoot.. those three acts all only worthy to listen to their first official release.. but yeah.. don't know if Plumb is connected to Switchfoot officially.. just i would dedicate their song,, Concrete Girl.. to Plumb.. the pun is intended.. and if she gets any remnants of this.. what's up?? i still have no hope.. and blessings are tossed aside and wasted.. thanks for the fruit i tasted.. anyways.. i think even in correct form of Christianity,, with or without respect for, God the Father.. all believers and followers should be Female.. makes since to me.. and i believe my true authority is Female deity,, Goddess.. anyways.. the God most people serve,, is a male figure,, that would rather kill those he loves and slaughter his own son Jesus.. to get people to say okay God we love you alright.. no burning in hell,, okay!! and eternal life with him.. is supposed to be riches.. and eternal life through death.. worshiping god the father.. no thanks,, and thanks for nothing.. however.. a line by King Iso.. from his song,, I Plead Insane.. "i've seen people laugh at Christ.. like their aint no such thing as an afterlife.." "I Plead Insane..!!" so get your faith established in the right place!! because i will burn it all down,, just to say,, anyone who uses Jesus and his death as an excuse to get in heaven with God the Father.. is not worthy.. especially since the most highest acclaimed Christian.. lives out all the sin they can except on Sunday,, just to make sure they are forgiven.. in the name of money and riches!! forget that form of forgiveness.. no one earns it.. we all burn in hell at my hand!! thanks.. sorry.. Poppy and her songs,, Blood Money .. I Disagree .. and her most recent ,, Stagger .. Plumb.. you belong in music history.. no matter what your music might support lyrically.. thanks.. Peace..

You sit there on the couch
    Sipping your scotch and ice
    You turn the TV on
    And tune me out again
So what would you say to me
If you could talk to me
    You could ask anything
    I wouldn't lie
    But you're okay with this
    Damaging awkwardness
So I'll just play it safe
    And keep it inside
    'Cause boys don't cry
I used to hold your hand
So tight there was no question
But now even when you're near
    I've never felt so alone
So what would you say to me
If you could talk to me
    You could ask anything
    I wouldn't lie
    But you're okay with this
    Damaging awkwardness
So I'll just play it safe
    And keep it inside
    'Cause boys don't cry
If you just stand beside me
I'll keep you in my life
Tell me how much you love me
    And I'll be just fine
    Don't be afraid of me
So what would you say to me
If you could talk to me
    You could ask anything
    I wouldn't lie
    But you're okay with this
    Damaging awkwardness

Was this song in the movie "Boys Don't Cry." That movie was so raw. It opened many eyes. Exposed liars, terrorists & lies. Yes, those who participated in bullying, menacing & denigrating others because of their sexuality leading to the murders, rapes, spiritual deaths of many, were exposed. Either their hypocrisy or criminality were exposed. It is tragic that it took #TeenaBrandon's murder to shed a spot light on it but I'm glad we are beginning to evolve from that mentality.

+Aaron Reichert I think that your last comment is actually what the song is about. The Father figure in it is acting according to the old saying 'boys don't cry' but what the video is showing, and the song is hoping will happen is that, he will finally break free of tradition and allow himself to feel the emotions and cry if he needs to. His wife in the song and video longs to be close to him and support him, but he has closed himself off from both her and their son. The small part of the video when we see the sprinkler is turned on shows that life would be better if they opened up their emotions and allowed themselves to cry. The sad thing is, the video shows the son learning to close up from his father, yet I think the video hopes for change.

I think you see the husband and wife aren't really connected in their relationship anymore and the kid is caught in the crossfire. He's confused about the situation as evidenced by his outfit looking like a conglomeration of both the parent's outfits. The water at the end is probably symbolically washing away all that negativity and he's able to be himself. I have no idea if I go that right but I think I took a good stab at it...
