We need to get an update for Lugnut in Legacy, and hopefully they update Starscream too, and possibly repaint Bumblebee into Wasp.
Hope we can get an animated Blitzwing, but I doubt we will.

The Animated Activator figure was the first Optimus Prime I ever got. So getting this figure will bring back so many beautiful childhood memories

Think I'm finally sold on this one. Great update, improved articulation, and a fun transformation. Really like the fire axe accessory and how Prime can dual wield it.

You mentioning the eventual Motormaster repaint made me think. Looking at how this mold transforms, I can actually see a potential Menasor form of this. The way the arms transformed into vehicle mode really made me think of combiners like G1 Bruticus

I am hoping for a Animated Blitzwing, that one was my absolute favorite. If not give us a Swindle, given the original's clear plastic breaking a lot of people would thank Hasbro for a newer version if its as good as this

Personally I'd like to see a Selects rerelease of Titan Returns Blitzwing with two extra titan masters based on his animated heads.
I really hope we get Animated Megatron in 2025 to go along with him. He has to be one of my favorite Megatron designs, and this Optimus deserves a great Megatron to go with him.

5:57 There are just too many iconic picks for the animated decepticons! Lugnut, Blitzwing, Shockwave, Lockdown, Blackarachnia, Wasp... They're gonna have to disappoint a lot of people if they wanna boil it down to just 3!

Back in 2008 I had the battle damaged Optimus Prime from the "Battle Begins" 2-pack. This new legacy figure makes me feel so nostalgic

He'd honestly work as Animated Bulkhead much more, anyhow. Change the chest to reflect that vehicle more, replace the hands with claws, remold the backpack shield to look more like hard metal instead of fabric, change the face and head, and then *maybe* remold the shoulders. Everything else is just color-blocking.

I’m still waiting for Prime universe Optimus Prime, but this is a step closer, he’s probably my third favorite Optimus along with G1’s and Prime’s
I can already see it now! It would probably end up being similar in transformation to the RID figure with a lot more streamlining, I could even see the back kibble folding into the legs!

I need TFP Optimus as well! I've been rewatching TFP just for funsies, & I've been constantly thinking that we NEED a TFP Optimus that is SUPER accurate to his animation model! He should be accurate to the same levels as the Legacy TFA figures & Skyquake & Dreadwing, cuz they look perfect! We also need Bumblebee, Starscream, Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, Smokescreen, Ratchet, Vehicons (Jet, Car, & Miners), Wheeljack, Arcee V.2, Cliffjumper, Ultra Magnus, & so much more!! I don't have SS100 Bee, but he looks like a pretty decent stand-in for TFP Bee. & Legacy Silverstreak is a pretty good stand-in for Beast Hunters Smokscreen cuz of the colors & the fact hes a Datsun like G1 Smoky (I think it fits). & also, we should get Beast Hunters Optimus, Bee, & Smokescreen at some point. & we should get Predaking, Darksteel, Skylynx, & Galvatron (from Predacons Rising).
@@jedijack0577 Aren't they called Ion Blasters? I'm pretty sure his arms guns are his TFP Ion Blasters. But, agreed so much! & The Star Saber would be sick, maybe make Megs a Leader or Commander & give him the Dark Star Saber!

Animated figures were some of the best designs ever. Now they managed to improved them, it's just pure awesomeness.

Leader class is enough. Especially if he ends up being as big as the leader class Dinobots, Kingdom Megatron and transmetal 2 Megatron, which are the biggest leaders released with the modern toy scale. If somebody should be commander class, than it's Lugnut. He towered above everybody else in the show. Even Megatron looked small next to him!
Not a huge Commander ofc. Not Siege Skyfire or Armada Prime size, obviously.
In the meantime we have Legends Super Megatron to fill the void. 🤓

Being a big TF Animated fan myself, I'm definitely looking forward to this particular Optimus (same with Bumblebee also). Overall , he looks great. 😄 Really looking forward to the Motormaster repaint also. 🙂 Glad the axe handle can extend as well, just like in the cartoon. ^.^
(Would definitely love to see a third party make a trailer for him someday, at the very least, for that more complete fire engine look - something that all the other Animated Optimus figures were sorely lacking, though I still like those as well.)
Edit: Additionally, I finally have it now, and I definitely couldn't be happier. :) And also, as well as a Motormaster, I will admit that I'd really love to see an Animated Universe Toxitron someday as well (would probably be a Buzzworthy Bumblebee exclusive, or something). ^.^

In the show Optimus did have a water nozzle attachment that filled up his back, maybe that's coming. We know a Motormaster retooling is planned, so maybe he gets the nozzle attachment? But I don't think he'll actually combine.

The Animated Stunticons never combined into Menasor, if I recall.

They did what they did for g1 optimus, giving him grey legs instead of the white legs
Oh, I am so getting this! Also, is it just me, or does the upper body's transformation seem very similar to the original deluxe version? It kind had a similar way in how the torso transformed
Ah unfortunately I never owned that version but I wouldn’t be surprised. The older TFA figures were so well engineered 🔥

@PrimeVsPrime great review as usual. Stunning figure ❤. Did you notice he also has the truck seats sculpted into his upper arms, not just the dashboard stuff? Incredible detailing. Wish the windshield was more see through so we could admire this more. Maybe it can be seen when putting a light on the windshield?
Legacy Bulkhead really is just a mix of the two main versions of the character

I found someone who has the exact same idea as me! I'm the same! Hes literally both versions but in the overall Generations style (not necessarily G1), & it just works so well with him! I don't have any of the TFA guys yet, but Legacy Bulkhead will probably look insanely good with them.
@@PrimeVsPrime Well, y'know they could always release Legacy Bulkhead with a new deco & head, & maybe, just maybe a new chest mold, for a more TFA accurate look. It'd be too easy.

I know I'm late to the party, but mine just arrived! I love it! Awesome figure. The sheer bulk is so impressive. Even prefer his new face over the old, despite having doubts!. Awesome figure.

I can't help but find it hilarious that Prime Vs Prime sat on the Animated Optimus review for so long that he's not the first person to review him by this point because of Amazon shipping him out early to people. This is why striking while the iron is hot is important.
That said, this figure seriously looks fantastic, my only complaint is a couple of aspects of the transformation seem a tad fiddly, and I wish more was done with the feet. I'm hopeful those connections on the soles that aren't used for anything hint at a potential re-release with his flight upgrade.
This might be a small nitpick, but what would’ve sent the figure to a 10 out of 10 is if he had a small battle mask we could clip onto his face. I wish we had that or a second head with all the Optimus Prime figures so we could choose how we want to display it

Really hoping this Legacy model can get a Powermaster Upgrade kit that comes with his faceplate. Would be really awesome to see that form actually realized as a figure proper.

Kinda wish the Transformers Prime figures were as accurate as the Animated and Unicron Trilogy figures are. I just got Knockout through the Walmart 2 packs and I love the figure but I wish he could've been a bit more accurate to how he was designed in TF Prime.

I have never seen Transformers Animated. My family got me some figures once, but that was all I ever knew. One day I looked at the design for the original Voyager Class Optimus, and something about it spoke to me. When I saw the design for this figure, my jaw dropped. I was desperate for one, and when I was on vacation, I finally picked it up. I can't wait to crack it open when I have the time!

When I was in my last year of middle school when Transformers Animated was airing on Tv, I wanted an Animated Optimus Prime toy but I couldn’t due to a few factors 1. I was busy with school 2. I was getting old for Transformers and didn’t have money. I finally got Animated Optimus Prime and he’s a solid figure.The robot mode is good but could have a bit more yellow paint and the vehicle mode is…ok but overall I’m happy with him.
It would probably bring the figure down if the designer decided to bring the gimmick (the spinning hips joint from the OG) which we do not need it for this. It would also be nice if they put the battle mask gimmick just like the OG one as there is no way he is going to battle without battle mask.
Otherwise this is definitely a pickup for me. Great review btw.

I made sure I pre-ordered this cuz TF Animated was my childhood. I had the OG TFA Prime figure when I was younger.
This is a must have. I do speculate that either DNA Design will make some gap fillers, jet pack set, face plated head and possible trailer for him or Hasbro could reissue this figure as a Leader Class with the trailer.
DNA won’t make a new head, probably just a removable plate that slides on or something
Hopefully they make one for those gaps in bees car mode and maybe a way for the feet to be the actual car fronts

I can totally see them making a leader class powermaster prime, and repainting Optimus to have the eternal flame deco as well as a closed facemask.

Now all we need is Bulkhead and Ratchet! Megatron: "You're a persistent little Autobot!" Optimus: "My name, is OPTIMUS PRIME!" And if Optimus gets a trailer and jetpack I hope that it's gonna be the one that he was supposed to have in the cancelled season 4 which could return next year.

I am so happy that one of my favorite transformer character from transformers animated got a new toy, i wanted transformers animated Optimus back in 2007 but it was sadly sold out, but i have a second chance with this Optimus Prime 😃

Idk if you noticed but behind the chest piece there a molded in steering wheel and dashboard. On the back of the shoulders there molded seats so when in truck mode it has an actual interior

I agree. But, he never had the Matrix, the Allspark fragments were just stored in a containment that looks like the G1 Matrix. I'm pretty sure he never had the actual Matrix in TFA. Again, agreed alot!

i wish we got ball jointed wrists more often, there are so many figures that could have wrists but dont because they just used hinge joints

I cannot wait to get this figure, since every figure of Optimus Prime that's been released in Legacy so far has been a must have Transformer. :D I hope I will get Prime before New Year's since he's the only Legacy United wave 1 figure I still need to collect. Keep on being amazing.

They really need to redo the prime characters. Seeing how much care they pit into all the animated and gamerverse figures really makes me wish that they tried with the prime characters again.
This is like an upgraded version of Animated design

This guy is perfect! TFA Bee, Optimus, & Prowl are super great! I need them all, I NEED them, & every single major character in TFA, too!!! Lugnut, Megatron, Starscream, Blitzwing, Ratchet, Omega Supreme, Core Class Sari (full suit up would be easier to do), Blackarachnia, Sentinel, Arcee, Wasp, Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, Soundwave, Jazz, Jetfire & Jetstorm, the Dinobots, the Seekers, Swindle & everyone else!!! & same for the TFP characters, we NEED everyone, I mean EVERYONE! Arcee needs a V.2, tho, the mold looks pretty good for the other characters, just not for Arcee. Including Galvatron from Predacons Rising!
I wonder if we'll get an Upgrade for this guy that is the rest of the Firetruck that transforms into the Jetpack.
I really hope they go all out & give us a whole dedicated animated wave! Especially as this year was the 15th anniversary! 🤩🔥

I wonder if they'll do G1 verse figures of Prime's Optimus, BBB and Ratchet, Animated Bulkhead and Ratchet and maybe Sentinel and Ultra Magnus. I would love them doing Animated Red Alert and Blackout, Rodimus Minor, Hot Shot, Strika, Lugnut, Blitzwing, Jazz, Arcee... well... you get the idea. They mainly recreate the OG Autobot cast for Legacy, so we'll see. They did Tidal Wave, so...
Legacy has been great, I hope it goes on and on like Studio Series.

Yeah the foot kibble kinda sets me off too, but he’s definitely a great looking figure. I hope when they make the motormaster figure that they use the Derrick j. Wyatt design head sculpt instead of an Optimus prime recolor.
Wouldn't mind seeing this guy retooled to be an Orion Pax or maybe a repaint for a Nemesis Prime
