I immediately bought the cd after hearing about her on NPR. But, I took the lyrics completed differently than the description. I heard them was/. " If I can't see her, then I can't think about her. And, I'm happy." To me he was trying to get over the girl. I really relate to this.

this simply blows me away ... and yes, I do remember her father, but I do believe she has surpassed his mastery.

What I'm hearing is "si no puedo verla, no puedo pensarla, y soy feliz". Which means "If I can't see her, I can't think about her, and I'm happy". Quite a different meaning from the description.

Please change the description to reflect the CORRECT translation of the lyrics.... Yan Jones has it correct with the exception of the misspelled pour which should be "poor" and wue should be "que". Gracias infinitas

Flamenco is not strictly speaking "gypsy." The gypsies (the caló) in Andalucia adapted it to their musical legacies. There is much flamenco that did not traverse thru the calorro, namely fandangos, malaguenas, etc. which are basically Moorish derived. Much of it derived from the Romans, Phoenicians, Moors, Jews, and Africans. The calorro adopted and adapted the musical forms. It is a very complex amalgamation.

Your translation is wrong, my friend.
she sings -> si no puedo verla, no puedo pensarla y soy feliz.
If I can't see her, i can't think of her and i'm happy.
Pa'luminar la casa de un pobre hombre -> To enlight the house of a pour man
no hay mejor vela wue la luna -> there is no better candle than the moon
si no puedo verla, no puedo pensarla y soy feliz -> If I can't see her, i can't think of her and i'm happy.

Flamenco is not a gypsy music. Its roots are on the Moorish, sefardi music.
