Iconic AIRCRAFT? Just one? I'd say both of them. The Russians put the P-63 to good use in fighting the Nazis back. And actually, the P-63 was even rarer than the B-17. It was only one of two P-63F models ever built and the only one to survive.
@@My_Fair_Lady Much tighter air traffic control is needed at these shows and 'the law laid down to all pilot' the day before the show begins. Sad to say but some commonsense rules broken caused the Raiders and P-63 to be lost.
@@My_Fair_Lady Have lots of clues about what I am writing about -- among other things is that these aircraft were flying over or very close to populated areas - a strict 'no-no' in a properly run airshow and obviously two displays going on at once. Far too much traffic in the sky. Poor visibility of P-63 SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT before it was permitted to fly so close and so low.
If only there was some collision avoidance device implanted in the faster smaller P63 aircraft apparently having some built-in Situational Awareness restricting issues too : ( And yes, this is absolutely the right time to start proposing fundamental structural changes on every level, for the purpose to continue more sustainable flight operations of the few remaining relics ✌🏊🔛 Thanks

Too bad that Glenn Miller drowned out the Real Music of those iconic 4 engines and wind from the waist guns. I had a 45 minute flight on "Aluminum Overcast".........a dream come true and never forgotten!!! So sad that 6 died so recently....RIP and one less beautiful warbird!
Clearly the P-63's overspeeding and miscalculation. Organizers and Flight cotroller/s should have had a better control of the airshow. RIP to all who died esp to the B-17 flight crew. So sad this happened.

@C E No, not ALL airshows. Since there are only 4 airworthy ones still left, then maybe stop flying them with dissimilar aircraft.

I can't imagine how awful those last seconds were for the guys aboard this thing. RIP.
They gave their "Whole nine yards" RIP.

It’s very hard to imagine a p-63 would crash right through that compartment at the end..
Feel blessed

i had the same thought
I am heartbroken for the crewmembers and the planes.
This was so tragic when the crash happened even tho I am British the b17 cant be matched by any British plane in my opinion
