When people are angry with God, it usually means they are hurt. They are devastated by something that has either happened to them or someone they love. Or when events have gone against them. God is loving and patient and certainly understands that.

There was a time a few years after I came to Christ at the age 46 when I went through a dark period of (spiritual?) depression. I constantly focused on my sin and saw it in every little thought, every motivation and every fibre of my being. I tried to please God but couldn't (by my own self-righteous standards, as I realised later). One day I drove into the countryside, got out of the car and shouted at God crying, "Why have you created me! Why have you done this to me? I'm of no use for you! I'm worthless garbage!", etc. I was in a really terrible shape.
2 hours later back home, I fell on my knees and asked him for forgiveness.
I am absolutely convinced that God wasn't angry because he knows my heart and that I love him. He healed me from this confusion and it never happened again. It really wasn't anger but despair because I foolishly looked at my sin all the time rather than to the cross.
Retrospectively, I believe this was a wholesome moment in my relationship with the Lord and my process of sanctification.

It's not surprising to me that God wasn't angry because he is slow to anger. It is simply God being God as always. I would say though that if we, we because I've been there to, hadn't confessed that this was foolishness and our own confusion we would not be here talking about it, we would be out and about in the world talking about how God does people wrong. What should be death and doom for us turns into sweetness because God is who he is. He will forgive, he will be merciful, he will light upon us like dew and make us fat with his delights even in the middle of a drought.

Being angry at God in my experience, has simply meant that something is wrong with your understanding and/or attitude towards him. And thus you have a challenge to explore and work it through, humbly and with honesty. I was not convicted in my anger. I simply acknowledged that my faith was lacking and pressed forward. It worked out. God is compassionate towards those who honestly seek him, even if it sometimes leads towards frustration or any form of negative emotion. Anything worthwhile will be hard and difficult. But I'll re emphasize that it is definitely not a good or correct or even ok state to be in, work vigilantly to resolve it

@@The_Church_Intern If I may, there are times where I was blinded by my own arrogance and thought that I was right when I would later realize how utterly wrong I was, even about things I had already learned! The key is honestly just about honesty. You allow God to say what he wants to say about you rather trying to wiggle your way into spaces that don't fit the way you're acting at the time. Compare yourself to Jesus all the time, that's what he came for. He is our example and if our ways don't match the Spirit or the word he spoke and did, we know that we have fallen short of the glory of God.

I didn't hear the last one about anger with God however I will say that when I've seen anger with god it's usually the adversary trying to get at people's faith it seems,or not being able to accept a burden that we have to bare. I'm great full for so many examples in scriptures where hard times were had and thankfulness to God was still given to show me how it's done. God bless and glory to the Most high.

I experienced the love of God in a powerful way last night. It was so wonderful. .
    .
    .
    .
I still feel cold toward God, and indifferent to serving Him. I still don’t trust God even though God met with me in love and in grace last night.
    Experiences are wonderful.
But we need real truth to restore our souls.
Job said that he would “complain in the bitterness of his soul.”
    -Job 7:11
Job also called God cruel - or at least, you are become (as) cruel to me.
    -Job 30:21
In a way, only those who have felt the bitterness that God put in them, and “filled” them with (Job 9:18) are truly capable of helping others.
I’ve never had a problem being angry with God for the 15 years I’ve been a Christian. I used to pray and long for revival. I was a very fun and joyful Christian to be around.
This is the first time I’ve had to face this curve ball.
    It’s hard.
    The psalmist as much as he loved God, looks like He didn’t for a season;
    thou hast lifted me up,
    and cast me down.
    Psalm 102:10
Something that’s getting me through is how Jesus let Lazarus die when he knew he was sick. In John 11.
It says in that context of verses that Jesus loved Lazarus, and his two sisters who care about him.
When Jesus called Lazarus out and freed him, Lazarus wasn’t jumping for joy and “leaping” like the person who was lame in his ankles did in Acts 3:8
Lazarus walked out, basically like a lifeless mummy. (John 11:44)
He couldn’t even unwrap himself from his grave clothes - Jesus called upon others to do so for him. (John 11:44)
    How did Lazarus end?
In “Abraham’s bosom.” (Heaven). Luke 16:23
In a place of exquisite loving comfort in heaven.
To the degree we die inside or bodily, as Christian’s, is the degree I believe, we will experience the green pastures of love in heaven. Just like Lazarus. Who was dead, and seemingly remained emotionally dead even after he was raised to life.
“The sufferings of this present time aren’t worth coming to the glory to come.” Roman’s 8

Pain is disfiguring. It is literally that simple. People suffering great pain and anguish, who are living afflicted lives in some way or another, will struggle with that pain. And that pain, especially when it is never alleviated, leads to a heavy heart and often broken heart. The result is often sadness, bitterness, frustration, weariness, and anger.
Is it is sin to turn our anger at God because His providential purpose calls down a path of great pain and sorrow? Yes. Does He understand our frailty and our weakness? Yes. It is indeed no small work of grace for us to reach a point where we can, as Spurgeon said, "bless the waves of affliction that dash us on the Rock of Ages."

It bothers you because you wrongly conflate forgiveness with mercy. Feeling like you need to forgive God doesn’t NOT mean that He needs your mercy. That’s completely different.
You would do well to have some empathy and compassion for those who have been through such horrific things that they feel abandoned by God and therefore ‘need to forgive Him’.
That doesn’t mean they want or need to offer Him mercy, or that they have AUDACITY. It means they’re in pain and actually believe that God is in FULL control.
So they understandably question why they were the victim of horrific things & were not helped by their Father. That has nothing to do with audacity and you need to think more carefully about how little mercy or grace that *you* are showing fellow Christians, when you compare your hardships to theirs by belittling how they feel about theirs.
It’s not audacity. It’s the same as feeling that way towards your earthy parents except with the KNOWLEDGE that God doesn’t need mercy.
So you can look at a human being’s pain and then feeling forsaken by their Heavenly Father, and then belittle that by assuming it’s got something to do with viewing God as an equal.
But that doesn’t make it the case. And God doesn’t view us as mere creations who need to get over their horrific experiences such as assault. We are precious. We can seek Him in these feelings.
Don’t project your assumptions of extending mercy onto those in pain. That’s unbelievably arrogant.
That’s why it’s just something that bothers YOU, and not something Pastor John said. Because he knows there’s a difference between *feeling* like you ‘need’ to forgive God (even though you KNOW that you don’t) & being arrogant.
The feeling of anger & being forsaken is a natural CONSEQUENCE of believing that God is in control. That is not a sin, and we are ALLOWED to feel that and seek Him and correct that feeling with faith. Having that feeling as a result of being VICTIMISED and then feeling forsaken, is NOT the same as thinking God wants our mercy.

      @missNCW 2 года назад

@@xavierthomas5835 that’s not wisdom, it’s a lack of love and mercy on HER part.

      @@Arrasel very poorly said.
Lest Melody tell us things she’s unfortunately been a victim of, let me say that she STILL does not have the right to tell other believers who have been the victim of rape and other horrible things,
That their feeling did abandonment are NOT the SAME as having the audacity to extend mercy to God.
It’s is a SIMPLE and NATURAL feeling to question why they were not saved from that as many people are. Hopefully Melody cannot relate to this, so I would question why she is so unbelievably arrogant that she is assuming a rape victim’s painful question to God is arrogant.

The answer to this question is VERY CLEARLY IN THE BIBLE: read Job 40 where God answers the lamenting Job. God basically asks him this: who do you think you are questioning the almighty God? Get over yourself. God is God and we are not. Also very often things that go wrong in our lives are due to bad choices.. its not God’s fault. So the answer is: NO. You cannot question or be angry at God. Who do you think you are? You are the created, not the creator.

John Piper is absolutely right. Not only is this shown in Romans 9:18-20 as explained by Piper in the video, likewise I think across Scripture God teaches that anger is always derived from one's strong sense of justice, and it is always the strong disapproval of what one thinks is morally wrong. Hence, it is righteous when it is only directed towards sin itself alone and prompts us to love God and neighbour in truth to combat it; and it is sinful when it is directed towards any person (even yourself I believe), let alone towards our Holy God. We can see all this with Cain and Abel, Jonah, The Sermon on the Mount, Mark 3 and 11 (which quotes Isaiah and Jeremiah), John 2 and Revelation. Let us be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for human anger does not produce the righteousness of the God (James 1:19-20) we love.

Hey brother if the apostles weren’t afraid to ask Jesus to increase their faith, you shouldn’t be either.
      Luke 17:5 KJV
[5] And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.
And the father of the child with the demon that caused seizures wasn’t afraid to ask the Lord for help with his belief either.
      Mark 9:23-24 KJV
[23] Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. [24] And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
Point being, ask the Lord to increase your faith. Ask the Lord to not let your heart be hardened. And keep asking Him until He does it. I don’t mean sit there and keep repeating yourself over and over but throughout the day when you pray ask Him. And then the next day and then the next.
      John 14:13-14 KJV
[13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
I’m assuming that our Father wants us to have faith and so John 14:13-14 would be applicable to remember when you pray for faith.

I've been where you are. I know it's not a fun place to be. Turning off the tv, shutting myself away from the world and fasting and prayer and drawing near and pressing myself into the Lord always helps me greatly. Think of it like a spiritual tune-up. When I read your post, this scripture immediately came to my mind: "...though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6‐7. This is another one that has helped me greatly through the years: "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." James 1. It is a testing of your faith that you are going through. To prove it genuine. To pass this test you are going to have to dig your heels in and fight to keep it going. Don't let your lamp go out. It's our responsibility as priests of God to keep our lamps lit and burning. God will do his part. But we also have to do our part as well. Or else the whole thing falls apart. Fight the good fight of faith. God bless you in your fight. May the Lord strengthen you in all your weaknesses. Best wishes. ✝️💛

I've been struggling with this myself. I like that Piper focuses on the honesty required to go to God and thus open yourself up to him. I know it is a work. I end up struggling with whether I am elect. Those two intertwine in a very terrible way. There are a lot of people, many of them with podcasts that have the love of a rabid pit bull and focus so much on the culture wars, theological correctness, and bearing that they neglect the weightier matters; which they contrast to the story of the father in Jesus' parable of the prodigal son. The father cast aside his own pride and social expectations and ran and embraced his filthy son. Jesus modeled how to keep those important things plus act on the weightier matter. May you find a God fearing body of believers that humbles themselves in this way.
If you haven't experienced Jesus like that, where the whole counsel of God is honored then I pray you do. If you are like me and have faced absurd levels of unrepentant sin and brazen hypocrisy from church bodies even including slander and criminal behavior, then it might weigh heavy on you. David faced this. He cried out in anguish and confusion then conveyed his choice to carry on towards God as his salvation since he knew him. Job too was angry, weary, and confused but pressed onward.
When thinking aloud, especially if in any despair, but trying to latch onto Job's and David's faith, these heartless, godless responses will be something like, "Well, buddy, you ain't Job". Just keep pushing forward and don't let the tares distract you from God.
Even Elijah needed a sabbatical and comforting by God.
Whatever you do. Don't give up. Endure.

You may not be able to prevent a bird from landing on your head but that’s not the same as letting it build a nest. I think anger at God can present itself as temptation that we may refute and invalidate before it takes root in us. We must remember temptation is an enticement towards a desire. If you notice anger towards God is present and you are not in bitterness, it may be that you are tempted and if you agree with that emotion, any decision you make is sin. In other words, you want it but you don’t and the “ I don’t want it” immediately overriding the “ I want to hate” instinct of the heart is a crucifixion of our flesh. I believe his approach addressed any LASTING anger with God and not just an occasional temptation. He is not saying temptation is sin, only that temptation leads to sin and the temptation is to hold onto anger, meaning any anger you hold onto towards God or man is sin, specifically murder of the heart.

He talks about spouses and children. Further showing how the Church views marriage as the norm, and single people are excluded from this. The first example of someone you can love and be angry at, seems to be a spouse and children.
That’s The view of a married person. But we are supposed to believe that married people and single people have an equal experience. And that single people are considered as often as married people.

He wasn't angry the Father had removed the knowledge of his presence from him, he was sad. He was despairing loudly and mourning and lamenting, but he wasn't angry at God for doing what he had already told him he was going to do to him. Christ is not a sinful man that he should think himself worthy to get angry at the Father for his wisdom. Do you trust that God is wise even when we don't understand the situation? Then and only then can we stand in the face of persecution when we have done noone any evil.

Also to answer your second question, look at Jesus looking at his disciple Peter deny him three times plainly, after having said he loved him. He then comes back from the grave and the only thing he is concerned about is "Peter, do you love me?" He doesn't bring it back up because he knows he is ashamed. He doesn't get angry. He doesn't even say that Peter will no longer be the rock of his Church. He simply gives him what he desired to do in the first place. Love him enough to die for him. Isn't God gracious?

@Danny Dolan You are very gracious brother and I adore the love of Christ in you. I simply believe that people have allowed a deception to inhabit the church. That love ignores the truth and doesn't acknowledge iniquities. Love acknowledges sin and only THEN does it say it doesn't matter. Love overcomes it doesn't ignore. May God bless you and keep you.

So Adam and Eve f'd up so we have to pay for what they did. Jesus died on the cross but we still have to suffer and go through he'll on earth. I just don't get this. I get so angry with and at God because we didn't choose to be here and then so many have it great and without sickness while others suffer. Why did it have to be this way? Why can't we or some have any piece on this earth. WHY????? We ask forgiveness and then we or I continue to be angry and curse at God and my heart.

I would urge you to repent of this your foolishness. By your own admission you have stated that all the world is suffering, even Christ. So then how can you, like crabs do, grab onto the nearest leg and try to drag Jesus down to act as of your pain is any more than anyone else on planet earth? He will heal the broken in heart and bind up their wounds, he will satiate the weary soul and replenish every sorrowful soul, but he will judge every wicked person and every evil doer will be cast into a lake of fire. Repent and believe the gospel, wherein Christ dies for our sins and saves us from hell for our sakes alone. He will also judge all evil and wipe away every tear and there will be no more death and no more sorrow and no more pain. All of these temporary things will pass away. Jesus loves you.

"Can I Be Angry with God and Be Holy?"
(Sorry for the extremely long "comment". But I do believe it NEEDS to be said)
Hmmm kind Sir...for there are 2 problems in the question; that was asked you sometime back...
...and this is the 2 problems:
    1. ANY person CAN be "Angry* with Jesus" (who IS the only true God there will ever be). Because Jesus (before creation) chose to give humans only, "FREE-Will". Whereas all other creatures are limited, in all they do. Praise Jesus' Holy Name for doing that. Thus, we have never been "A Puppet on a String"; as all other creations are. Hallelujah!
    2. The word "Holy" (has been mistaken since Creation. It has NOTHING to do with deity, etc. Rather: it simply means to be "set apart". IE: Any group can build a "Temple", etc. But the Holy Temple is "set apart" from every other temple.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy (the Born Again) is he that hath part in the first resurrection (The "Rapture"): on such the second death (hell) hath no power, but they shall be wit God who IS Jesus, and shall be with him a thousand years.
(On earth: but only "one" Day in the Old Heaven! While ALL "non" Born Again's; will stay in their graves UNTIL the "1,000 yrs" is over. Then they will be in the "2nd" resurrection. But NO Rapture! And then: the Born Again and the non Born Again will be judged! The BA goes to the New Heaven and the NBA will be cast into hell.)
Thus, in the case of Jesus' "Holy Temple"; it even had another holiness; within the Holy Temple! Where they had a special room; in the Holy Temple; that was set apart from the Holy Temple. And they called it the "Holy of Hollies!".
And ONLY "Levite Priests" were allowed; to go into that room. And IF any one, but a Levite Priest, touched any thing on the holy table (called the "Arc of the of the covenant"; they would instantly be slain by Jesus. And that happened one time in the bible, no less. And even Kind David saw it. Wow!
Now, Every "Born Again" is Set Apart (in the eyes of Jesus); from every others. Creation to the End of the World! Even though we are not yet "deified". For we are just Set Apart; from all of the rest all over the world. Even though we are with non Born Again's; until the End of the world!
Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
And regardless of what the RCC says: the ONLY "True Saints (billions of them) in Jesus' Kingdom, are the "Born Again's". All the others WILL be cast into Hell on "Judgment Day!".
End of Story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!
    * IF any one is ever "Angry with Jesus"; they are "damned" fools. And do NOT give them any mercy. For Jesus (who IS God) is the only Creator. And IF it was not for what Jesus did; NOTHING would have ever happened.
And remember; EVERY "tear, pain, sorrow or death" is OUR fault. From birth to death. Believe it or not. Praise Jesus' Holy Name. AMEN!

How can humans ever be holy?

    • @Arrasel
      @Arrasel 2 года назад

      Holy means "chosen"
So yes,we are Holy because we are His.
Holy doesn't mean sinless perfection. The Biblie doesn't teach we can get there in this life.

    • @xavierthomas5835
      @xavierthomas5835 2 года назад +2

@@Arrasel Now are ye clean through the word which o have spoke. unto you. Sanctify them in thy truth; thy word is truth. This is the will of God, even your sanctification, and that you abstain from fornication. For it is not His will that ye have any spot or blemish or any such thing as that. These are just 6 examples of where God does in fact teach sinless perfection upon the earth. Do I say that we shall never struggle? No. I say that God has through his Son provided a truly perfect way, wherein we who have come out lf the world and died to sin, DIED, have complete freedom from sin. It is about whether or not we believe it to be possible. For with God nothing is impossible.

There is no sexual intercourse in heaven because men and women will not marry or remain married to each other there (Matthew 22:30). Because we do not marry there, it also means we do not have sexual desires there.
There is no childbearing or the desire for it in heaven because God will give everyone a name and place better than sons and daughters (Isaiah 56:4-5).
Marriage, which is sexual intercourse, is a form of this world that will pass away (1 Corinthians 7:27-31).
Earthly marriage is a representation of our union with Jesus in heaven and this will be infinitely better (Ephesians 5:31-33).
Hell is forever and your body will be concious and burned with fire and infested with worms for eternity, and there is no sexual intercourse or childbearing there as well (Mark 9:48).

    The Gospel:
    Plain and
    Simple
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your
minds should be corrupted from the simplicity
that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3
Ask someone today if they are saved and
you will most likely hear responses like these:
“I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I
have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been
baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good
and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually
knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what
the gospel is and has left a devastating effect
of people not knowing what it is that they are
saved from nor how they are saved; which
leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation.
Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church
sounding phrases that do not communicate
anything. But rather present God’s word with
clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel:
    plain and simple.
Sin was passed upon all men by one man
Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin
(Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of
condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of
this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good
works one might do we are still found sinners
in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found
righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even
one law we are found guilty.
It is for this reason of not being able to
create our own righteousness and being born
in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus
3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in
the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross
2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath
and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial,
and resurrection on our behalf that we are
able to have peace with God and forgiveness
of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good
news is unto all but only those that believe in
it are made righteous in Christ (Romans
    3:22).
It is then after we have heard this good
news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit
and we are now part of Christ’s body the
    church (Eph 1:13)
There is nothing that we need to do, no
good works that are required, and no bad
works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39).
Faith and belief in this information from
    God’s word is the gospel.
The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your
heart. The gospel is not making him lord of
your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not
    being baptized with water.
So next time someone asks you if you are
saved. Give them the clear assured answer
“Yes! And let me tell you why!”
