    After watching this video, I wanted to share a trick my awesome husband figured out. We just finished installing drip to our containers and of course I already had them potted up, so we had to run the 1/4" tubing on the outside of the pots this year. In order to keep that tubing in place, he used binder clips (the black ones typically found in an office) to hold the tubing in place. He ran the tubing through the silver part of the clip, then just clipped it to the side of the container- genius!!!💖💖💖 He used the mini size, but they have any size you need for your containers. It has been fabulous!!

    It’s all in good fun, while I’m working in the garden he’ll also ask “ is that how Laura does it”? Or he’ll call me on his way to work and say “I’m not interrupting your Laura time am I ?”
    Just this weekend we planted a huge area of about 14 varieties of squash and pumpkins and when we were finished he said “Is Laura planting pumpkins? Is that why we are doing this?” 😂

    Good video. Drip irrigation is easy, relatively inexpensive, and efficient. It’s also very forgiving - there are no mistakes that can not be easily remedied. 😅 I just set up a similar system for the 12 planters along our back patio tapping off of a hose spigot with a splitter with a Bluetooth controlled timer, and a similar setup with the backflow preventer, pressure regulator, and filter. Works like a charm. My wife is happy and now my daughter wants a similar setup at her house!

    G' morning! 🌞 PERFECT TIMING! I am waiting for my shipments to arrive today and tomorrow with my pressure regulator/filter, backflow preventer and ½in blank supply line. Being on a tight budget I had to order in segments. Last Fall I purchased the connectors, goof plugs, emitters , ¼ in line and shut off valves. My son gave me a 4 zone timer for Christmas... so I will be bringing ALL THINGS drip irrigation tonight to refresh my memory. Thank you for this additional information! Happy Friday!

    I've learned so much from y'all about drip, my husband and I installed it everywhere a few years ago from watching your channel. This year I pulled it all out and put it in a grid pattern like Paul did and the pressure is so much better and you're right we evolve and just keep improving. Whenever I put 1/2 inch black tubing in a walkaway I run it through PVC pipe to protect it from puncturing.

    • @mukthatumkur3324
      @mukthatumkur3324 3 года назад

      @anand bagmar That's right, you have to put the teflon tape in a clockwise direction when you hold the pipe in front of you. This way, when you put your fitting on which is also in the clockwise direction, you won't bunch up the tape. If you put the tape on in a counterclockwise direction, when you put a fitting on, it will bunch up because you are essentially moving the fitting against the direction that the tape is lying. There are several YT videos on this....

I have a HUGE, LONG line of pots I do, as well as my in ground stuff. I've watched several of your videos on this, more than once. This one is a great help (so were the others) and once again gets me motivated to get it done. Hand watering is just killing me(time-wise) and I can't keep consistent enough. Dear Aaron & Laura, thank you so much for continuing to share your God given gift with us. You have empowered us to create a veggie garden and now a flower garden and flowering pots around our home. Our home is so welcoming and provides a sanctuary we didn’t know we needed. Would you believe our boys and I just pulled two types of garlic from our raised bed! We are looking forward to sharing them with friends. Irrigation is now on our list and thanks to you we know we will have no problem tackling this task. You have removed the fear we had. From the bottom of our hearts thank you.

    After watching your earlier videos I bought the Dig starter kit from Home Depot. You made it easy for me to set it up for my patio garden. I had a few questions about using it with my water barrel which were answered by helpful people at Dig customer service. Thank you so much for making videos on this topic and for maintaining your incredible number of postings. I admire your work ethic.

    Good Morning, Happy Friday Garden Answer Team & following frriends! I am thankful for the tutorial...I do not have alot of yard or enough planted pots to warrant a drip system, but everytime I water & drag my hose around and carefully over /around ground plants, flowers trying not to disrupt my plants I think of how nice a drip system would be. Have a great day all!

      I have to say if you have Any amount plants and ever leave home for even a weekend it is worth having🤗 also I just enjoy more time to have to weed or just enjoy my small garden pots etc., also I have a double timer and one side run a hose and sprinkler to a section of lawn. My daughter just set a little money aside each week in the winter and come spring she could afford the system🤗

I am thinking more & more about the small investment for drip...

    We bought a drip system this year because it always seemed so easy when Laura was putting one in. While it was still doable, the 1/2 inch hose was so difficult to cut into ( even with their special tool) I had to ask for hubby help. But the end result is fabulous, my raised planters and containers have never grown so well!

    Just a thought…would it be helpful to run the 1/2” poly tubing though a pvc pipe to protect it from getting smooshed by walking/garden carts? I noticed how easily it was smooshed when Laura stepped on the landscape staple at 15:18 and had to back it out a bit. Absolutely love your videos by the way! I appreciate how you explained of how each situation will need to be different. Not because one is better then another but because thats just the nature of the project. Saying how you will need to stand in the hardware aisle and see what they have and giving brief examples was very helpful. Often I see people only mention it in passing which often comes across as "you could do it other ways but I am doing to show you the best way", as they proceed to copy what you have exactly.

    I set my hanging baskets up on drip irrigation and it has been a game changer! I killed many a hanging basket before I began automatic watering. I started with a kit and it will do about ten pots, but your system looks much more substantial and I think I will switch over to the 1/2" tubing to get a better supply at the end of my line. I have found that with the 1/4" tubing you run out of pressure at the end of the line if you have many pots. Thanks, Laura and Aaron!

You also helped me to set up drip in my home garden (island, beds ect). My only issue I found confusing was which way to put the barb fittings (the tee in particular) in a circle inside-the container to allow it to drip.
