After becoming accustomed to DE Razors and artisan soaps, it’s hard to go back to cartridges. That being said, there are those that swear by them and use them everyday, everyone is different. Great honest review Matt!

Thank you Matt! I respect your willingness to try something different before you make a decision on whether or not you like the product, even when you probably know what you’re going to think of it. I imagine you have helped countless men to find the best way for them to get a good shave they can actually enjoy, and that’s a real service you provide. I love your videos and great company, and hope it continues to grow long into the future. Best wishes to you and your family. ✌️🇺🇸

No way Matt. Your skin,as well as mine is used to a safety razor. Everytime you use a
    cartridge from time to time
the skin reacts to it and the
    shave becomes painful due
    to tugging. It happens with
    me when i use a mach 3
    every month or two months.
It's like pulling hairs out and
    dragging.

Nice review. With TSA not allowing "loaded" DE razors in carry-ons, Jeremy's is my "go to" choice when I don't check a bag. I haven't tried taking an older Schick like a Type E, but I'd think that might be allowed. Not going to risk it though.

Loved the video. I started shaving with an electric, then moved to Harry's and when they changed something and the quality didn't hold up as well I decided to try something new. I then went to a leaf because it was familiar like a cartridge but used the double edge blades (snapped in half) I then stepped to a Mercur, my first true double edge. I currently use the Leaf for my head and the DE for my face and neck. I have started on my head some as well with the DE.
I think these cartridges are a good stepping stone to the double edge world. In my experience though, the DE shave is better than a cartridge. Currently I am going through different blades to see what I like best.

I think cartridge razors are really only viable if you shave everyday and even then they are obviously inferior to DE.
DE razors are way more comfortable and provide an immensely better experience. They turn the dread of shaving (with a cartridge) into an enjoyable routine that most of us look forward to. That first pass looked painful.

Great honest review! I am new to DE shaving for about a month. Slowly dialing up the aggressiveness after listening to one of your videos! I do not miss my heated Gillette ProGlide that I use to love. I had tried Harry’s a couple of years ago and didn’t like it. It tugged and didn’t shave as close as a Proglide. Not that I am going back to cartridges, How did you think Jeremy’s compared to Harry’s?

  • @samchops6875

If I was using cartridge razors, I'd try Jermey's razors. But I abandoned all cartridge razors when Gillette released their insulting boys-will-be-boys ad. I went back to a doube-edge safety razor which is what I started shavig with in the early 1970s. I used a Muhle Rocca, which is much better than any cartrdige razor. Then I discovered straight razors, which in my opinion, provides the best shave and best shaving experience.

Hi Matt, out of fairness to Jeremy's, instead of their shave cream, try your usual rich lather with a your own RE shave soap. Jeremy's razor blade head looks just about identical to Dollar Shave Clubs razor. QUESTION: Does Jeremy's razor head move, tilt and adjust to the shave angle of your hand? After switching to wet shaving, I have found your videos very helpful in choosing different wet shave products. So far, I have found RE's soaps and after shave balms to be outstanding and a pleasure to use. Thank You! Dave

  • @Jon-nz3dm
    @Jon-nz3dm 22 дня назад +1

LOL you can see it pulling his cheek skin down...so tuggy. Why has nobody made a good cartridge razor? I feel like if they just made one with like 3 sharp blades spaced out a bit more, also with slightly more exposure to get them closer to neutral, it could shave decent. Kind of like the Leaf 3 blade razor, but plastic all in one. This is a wonderful reminder of how bad shaving used to be for me. I used to shave once every 1-2 weeks with a cartridge razor. I know I'm not alone. The tug was insane and the hairs never cleared.

    • @slimbrady6691

Ouch, Matt! Usually, the sound of shaving is stubble being cut, but this sounded like tugging and yanking hair out. That first pass sounded more like waxing.
If I use a cartridge, it's usually the Atra. I don't like heads that flex, and the tiny Atra head can get the spot right at the top of the ear and under the nose really well.

Yeah, you mentioned it already, but using a cartridge, ANY cartridge on a 3 day beard is going to suck. My face really doesn't like daily shaves, so what I usually do is trim down the whiskers with an electric trimmer, then use a Lidl store brand 5+1 type cartridge to get the stubble off.
I've been slowly trying to gather up some knowledge before taking the plunge and investing in a straight razor, but have been putting it off for fear of wasting a couple hundred hard earned dollaroos on something I don't end up liking. Somehow, shavettes and double edges don't appeal to me at all. For now, I'll just keep window shopping. I might be back when I finally save up the money and courage to take the plunge.

One reason I quit all cartridge razors was cost and the fact that these companies were getting overtly political. It’s shaving for Pete’s sake! Anyway, I tried Jeremy’s Razors for about a year and finally decided to just quit. The cartridge blades were spaced so close they quickly clogged. It was a pain to even remove the hair. At the end of the day, I just want to enjoy an effortless shave. Hello straight razor. I just keep my collection of Jeremy’s cartridges as an emergency backup. Thanks for your take.

Hmm Matt not my cup of tea mate I have used DE razors for many years now after a lifetime of shaving with all sorts. My current kit out is a Feather AS-D2 fitted with the Feather blade. However I do have many others including some of the vintage Gillette's I bought from your company plus a couple of Rex's, Merkur's, Muhle's and a slant that I cannot remember what brand it is only that it was really expensive but still good. All in all I did overspend on DE's probably around $1800 - $2000 but still when you have nothing else to look forward to hey what is money LOL!! Now that cartridge you used looked really awful and nothing would get me to use it - I just don't see how the thing can be washed out properly under the tap and I could hear the noise of the bristles coming off on that second pass. Anyhow you took it in good faith mate and it was quite humorous in your presentation. John G - Australia.

  • @Rood67

    A) not a fair review. You should have wet shaved the day before. Cartridge shavers that skip days either have light colored hair, aka softer whiskers or they are sadist.
    B) I wet shave with a DE razor and a Feather blade due to dark coarse whiskers. But I do use a cartridge for a final pass. I liken it to sanding in wood working or different stones in knife sharpening. The DE is my 60 grit to get the job done, and the cartridge is my 1,000 grit or leather strop.

What a way not to alienate half your potential customers. Seriously, from a business standpoint, it doesn't make sense. However, I do believe there are don't hard lines that a business really shouldn't be ambivalent about.
Fascism, for example, is a pretty universal anti-American sentiment. So, losing the pro-fascism customer base isn't a bad thing. I get where Harry's is coming from. They felt that the daily wire crossed that line.
Jared seems to have been created because people over that hard line Harry's set were upset for getting called out. So, they double down to make their own business and still alienate a large potential user base.
So, Matt. Not commenting on political issues is probably your best move. However, I do think you should be thinking about and trying to find what hard lines you won't cross to where you feel the need you must say/do something. Just so you're prepared if anything crosses it and you know when to say "no".

@@RazorEmporium I agree. You absolutely haven't. You haven't come close to any ethical or moral lines. However, as a business owner, it might be wise to consider before hand what ethical and moral lines you can't stay neutral on. It just seems like Harry's hard line was reached.
I am saying that there are universally immoral things to where staying neutral about it becomes an immoral stance. It is probably a good idea to start thinking about where those lines are for you, so that you're prepared in the event where you have to take a stance.
I'm not talking about just politics, but also anything you do business about. Let's say you get a buyout offer from a company notorious for buying small businesses, gutting their IP, eliminating all kinds of QC to save money, and they end up creating terrible products to sink the company. Eventually, they make Rex razors overseas and made from zinc alloys. You stand to make shitload of money from the deal, but the brand you built would go down the shitter. Do you still sell?
I'm not suggesting what that line is, that's for you to decide. But, I do genuinely believe every company needs to self-examine their values. There's an economic theory that the primary purpose of capitalism is not to make money, but to provide goods and services not otherwise provided or under provided. When the primary goal is to make money, it becomes unstable. Money making can absolutely be a #2 goal, but the primary goal is to provide goods and services.
Many businesses overlook or completely ignore these things. What do ethics and morality have to do with running a business? Why should we care about it? It's good for the soul to ask these questions, even if you don't answer them. Just thinking about them is good.

This brand has nothing over the likes of Gillette, Wilkinson sword and Schick.
It's just another generic brand that claims it has the edge on shaving . It's far too late guys , and I add Harry's to that !!
