Those people who are blue-collar workers (like me), without college education, who are going to need their social security benefits, if not Medicare or medicaid, voted for the party that wants to actually take these earned benefits from them. This is absolutely mind-boggling.

It's better for the planet, to keep shipping in nearly all consumables in from around the globe? Because global elite are most profitable with buy low from 3rd world, sell high in our market?

Thank you. Biden should NEVER have been allowed to run a second time. He was supposed to be a bridge candidate. The Dem candidate would have had time to build a real campaign. The national Dem party is too much about “ so and so put in time so they deserve “ (see Clinton, Biden’s second run) as opposed to who can actually win or at least bring new ideas.

I agree to a certain extent.
But based on an experiment I did with the internet algorithms, I'm not sure how much a different candidate could have done.
The kind of propaganda I saw takes at least 4-10 years to build and worm it's way in.
I was in shock with the level of gaslighting I saw. The manipulation is masterful.
To be honest, the propaganda began to be planted 2-3 decades ago. And now it has born the fruit it was always planning to bear.
The only way out at this point will be painful lessons and hardships.

The problem with embracing populism is that in order for the democrats to actually provide some sort of economic justice they'd need to heavily clamp down on immigration. Massive immigration places downward pressure on working class occupations which is why it was a top #2 issue for voters.
Unfortunately for the democrats this is a very divisive issue without their own cohort. There's a bunch of university grads who love this immigration because it's basically unlimited cheap labour for them so they just echo any economic talking point to prevent it.
Then you have the student protestors who treat any immigration restrictions as "racism".

We all heard and saw what Trump did during his last term and then Biden won by a landslide, but people expect everything to be just wonderful in a week or two...because they are so clueless. Inflation has gone down, the job rate has gone up and businesses are doing better, but people are so gullible they believe all the misinformation/disinformation spewed out by the right wing.

Stop over analyzing the result of the election. This guy Martin summed it well at the beginning: the consumer didn’t want the product, just like any company must find the right products for its clients, it’s that simple. I am a Canadian citizen and I have a friend who is born in America and he has the US citizenship of course. He has live in Canada all his 60 year life. He told me he voted for the orange clown. I knew he would do that. How in the world do you think a grown up man, non-college educated, frustrated with many aspects of life would vote for a short, small, black, woke woman? Not a chance! Also, there was a simple question that was asked to Americans. It is do you think the country is going in the right direction? More than 72% of the people said no! I knew immediately that the Democrats were toasted! This said, it is almost @ certainly that the clown in chief will cause so much chaos that if there are elections in 4 years, the GOP will be defeated. However, if the Democrats want to win, they will have to identify the right candidate that the population in general will feel comfortable with.

You guys made a lot of good points. Here's my take on Reasons Trump Won (higher cost of living being the biggie):
    1) Christian nationalists who see Christianity dying and see Trump as a last-ditch effort to gain legislative power
    2) identity politics - people vote red no matter what (aka. Republicanity)
    3) the flyover states see themselves as “real America” and feel under-represented
    4) the electoral college gives the smaller states more seats/power
    5) Republicans gerrymandered districts
    6) Hollywood (and corporate America) has been taken over by left-wing activist writers and producers pushing DEI and "woke" garbage and people are tired of it. Multiple billion-dollar franchises were ruined due to culture-wars (Disney Star Wars, Marvel, Lord of the Rings, Ghostbusters, Terminator)
    7) strong anti-immigration sentiments and xenophobic/racist rhetoric (want stronger border & mass deportation for illegals)
    8) conspiracy theorists (the average Republican feels the previous election was "stolen")
    9) Christians who view abortion as baby-murder
    10) 20% of American investors own Crypto and Trump said he’d give it government backing
    11) right-wing media is brutally effective in their messaging
    12) lack of leadership and lack of messaging on the Democratic side
    13) Elon Musk and Joe Rogan endorsed Trump (helps bring in the male 18-34 vote)
    14) anger at the govt shutdown during the pandemic
    15) voters wanted CHANGE at all costs, even if it means burning down “the system”
    16) cost of living is way up (food, housing, gas) so voters blame the party in charge
    17) the bullet that grazed Trump’s ear (Christians will see as a sign from God)
    18) the average American hates MSM (mainstream media) ever since Trump called CNN “fake news,” so most Americans get their news from FOX and other right-wing echo chambers, causing political illiteracy.
    19) Social media also creates echo chambers (the algorithm feeds you more of what you like)
    20) anger at Israel and the Gaza war/genocide. Also, Trump said he'd stop the Ukraine war and the average American is selfish and doesn't want to spend billions of dollars on other countries.
    21) Kamala failed to distinguish herself from Joe Biden who is historically unpopular

All the states where Real Page rendered millions of renters homeless, where it rendered them dry broke after taking all their income per month, and then demanding more as if any was left, with credit ruined on utilities and gas cards because group management private equities took all the money and then had people ordered out without anywhere else to go and no chance to get their wallets or birth certificates. Just throwing stuff out on the lawn where other people in the same boat ran up to grab stuff to try to sell, before they could gather it who just got dumped out with their last check sent back. It was about selling and flipping properties for large cash buy outs from one monolithic nesting llc to another of the biggest five or so owning everything they can buy out in the world after shifting subsidized insured and dozed malls, to complexes, to commercial buildings to private houses and properties who didn't know better yet, because they had so far been unaffected by the rent debacle. The people not dead from plain sleeping outside without access to running water or bathrooms anymore, or in jail indefinitely over and over after being criminalized for being asleep on public property, are just trying to live and not have any communication stolen from them as they show up for court dates for existing somewhere outdoors. Most of their previous long time addresses still boarded up unoccupied. the last year or four. Deals might've been flipped, but whatever proposal of new business venture other than flipping amongst billionaires obviously can't be sustained or supported by the people who lost their livelihoods, to that game of anonymous equities corporations all under the few umbrellas. The same people could still be living there regularly paying reasonable rent that gives space in the income for the rest of basic living expenses too, but nope. If they had addresses and could keep IDs again, while they had to sleep, they'd have shown and voted.

I think the two mistakes I see again and again with Democrats: support for war and international trade (particularly support for blatantly unjust wars like Iraq and Gaza) and the other is the constantly talking about abortion. You will never convince somebody who doesn't support abortion to support it. It would be better to acknowledge some of the concerns of folks who are pro-life and arguing that programs like the universal monthly child tax credit, affordable childcare, mental health care for pregnant and post-natal women, and socialized health care will reduce the number of abortions that many women feel they economically have no choice but to have. Meanwhile, highlighting all of the horrific ramifications to having the criminal justice system regulate abortion- not just the handful of women who could not get care for their miscarriage, but also women who ended up in jail because of miscarriages that they are being blamed for. There are ways to talk about it that can bring a lot of folks who don't support abortion into the conversation instead of locking them out.
