Hey everyone, thank you so much for watching! Please consider subscribing to the channel. What do you think about the RoboCop sequels? Are they worth exploring?
Robocop 2 is less gory but absolutely hilarious - especially when the boss enemy is a 12 yr old narcotics broker, a foul-mouthed little white boy with a sub-machine gun in a business suit. You can Robo 3 (it's trash - Peter Weller refused to respise the role once he saw the script by a different producer/director... and Lewis dies too, which was total bs). You can skip the 2010s remake of RoboCop - never heard much from other movie buffs about it, so it must suck albeit this one was delegated to shoot the movie with a way bigger budget than OG RoboCop.- HG
Robocop is a great movie. I am glad so many reactors watch the unrated version. For years they censored the hell out of this movie. I didn’t see the true version until I got to college
Dude, I can't believe I was able to upload this in one try. Usually, most of the videos I upload are denied/blocked and I have to edit them again and again. This one went through like nothing and my mind is blown away haha!
Yup. The edited-for-TV version was so gutted that most people thought it was a family-friendly superhero movie. They mauled it so totally that there was a cartoon made out of it for little kids. Seriously.
@@jessebatres6895 Most reactions i've seen of Robocop i've seen also say there is no way that he would be still alive. It is rare, it's something like less than five percent of people survive a shot to the head, but it does happen. Look up Malala Yousafzai, Patrick Ireland, Tammy Sexton, Sergeant Alistair McKinney
Emil the gas station guy, did not recognized murphy by his lower face, you did not pay attention to the dialog, in the abandoned factory Murphy said, dead or alive you are coming with me, and then again at the gas station...
Amazing in the role for sure! It's funny because if you saw him just sitting down somewhere, you'd think he's some harmless pushover but he played one hell of a good villain!
Paul Verhoeven slaps you in the face with spectacle (gore, girls, gunfire) to hide his satire. Robocop is an indictment of police/military brutality and the dehumanization of those jobs. Also, there is a great visual joke in the lab raid scene - Murphy doesn't hit Clarence (a man with glasses 🤓), he hits multiple glasses with a man 😅 Expect more of the 3gs in Total Recall and Starship Troopers, Verhoeven's sci-fi satire trio. After that, maybe his 'sexy thriller' Basic Instinct, or the dark medieval satire Flesh+Blood
I saw this movie as a kid and didn't appreciate it nearly enough. It was so ahead of it's time, but, at the same time, very much a comment on it's own current times.
I'm curious on where the story goes from here. I'm sure the gore and great action will remain, but I wonder what other societal elements might be incorporated in the sequels.
Fun Fact: the original Robocop (1987) was filmed on location in downtown Dallas,TX. Director Paul Voerhovan chose older govt buidings such as the Dallas Police Dept records bldg (underground ramp is where Jack Ruby entered to shoot Lee Harvey Oswald), Dallas City Hall (OCP headqtrs), the antique filling station on Lamar Blvd, the decomissioned Proctor & Gamble factory on South Lamar Blvd & I-45, shoppes on Jefferson Blvd (cannon rifle scene), and car chase scene on Industrial Blvd (now Riverfront Blvd). I was actually 10 yrs old in '87... and can recall standing behind barricades just off camera seeing Hollywood come do an action movie right here in my town. Still awesome to me now as it was then as a kid. ❤
So awesome!! I actually live about 25 minutes from downtown Dallas, and I've been through several of the locations. It didn't even register though as I was watching the film. They really did good with that dystopian look! And man it must've been awesome to see them filming here and feeling that expectation of a big Hollywood film showcasing Dallas on the big screen
@jessebatres6895 Re-watch the movie and you'll see them on Commerce & Harwood on the scene where the guy took the mayor hostage and got punched out a 3rd story window. The scene where the rapist got shot in the nuts is that same wall where that giant Arts District mural of a man conducting an orchestra is on Routh Ave. I'll Buy That For A Dollar armed robbery scene was a real liquor store which used to be located right at Lamar & Corinth. The car chase up Industrial (Riverfront) was shot right at the crack of dawn; the way I got to see it was my aunt worked in the DPD records division which the director used simply for the car to scrape the up ramp inside their parking garage. She and everybody who worked there hated that steep ass ramp, messed up a lot of folks car and bums would always sneak in their garage thru there to vandalize; the same way Jack Ruby sneaked right in and blasted Oswald on nationwide TV. That ramp has actually been built over and burned by the new UNT Dallas bldg next to the old courthouse on Harwood; the PARK block letters in the backdrop when Murphy and Lewis pulled out on patrol cam still be found as decorum on the turf dog park across the street @ Commerce & Harwood. Not a lot of other Dallasites even know this information and have seen RoboCop a gazillion times - even had one idiot argue me down that it really is Detroit and I dnk what I'm talking about blah blah blah, why would they say Old Detroit instead of Dallas (unaware of Detroit being a more popular setting than here in Texas where a RoboCop scenario wouldn't be as believable. Ugh). Pass this along to the next one unaware of our city's place in movie making history ❤️
"I'd buy that for a dollar!" Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Darryl Cox, Joan Pirkle, Donna Keegan, and Spencer Prokop. Automobile Enthusiast Fact: The 6000 SUX was built from the body of a 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass four-door sedan. How I Meet Your Mother Award Fact: Kurtwood Smith's future wife, Joan Pirkle, has a small role as Dick Jones' (Ronny Cox) secretary, Barbara Clegg, who he flirts with before a meeting. They are still married to this day. Someone's Else Problem Fact: Nancy Allen first arrived on set when Paul Verhoeven was shooting the deliberately cheesy sitcom "It's Not My Problem" which appears on television screens throughout the film. Allen was initially horrified to think that she had signed on to make a film with an incompetent director. Movie Magic Fact: Most shots of Robocop and the police car show him getting out or preparing to get in. Peter Weller didn't fit into the police car in full costume. When he needed to be in the car, he wore the top part of the costume and sat in his underwear. To maintain the illusion that RoboCop wears the entire suit while inside a car, most shots show his robotic feet exiting first. What Script Fact: For the attempted rape scene, writer Edward Neumeier originally had RoboCop (Peter Weller) shoot past the victim's cheek, hitting and killing the rapist. While getting ready to shoot the scene as scripted, Paul Verhoeven noticed that Donna Keegan's legs were spread apart, giving him the idea to have RoboCop shoot between her legs and hit the rapist in the genitals. Neumeier loved the idea and that was how the scene was shot.
I love how they had multiple characters cracking up with laughter anytime that phrase was used. Plus seeing that guy on TV having the time of his life with girls that could be his granddaughters was epic lol! Oh man lol! That makes sense now as to why you never really see him get in or out while in full frame. I saw the movie poster where he's kind of standing just outside of the car. Great insight!
Evil bastards lol! It was great to see Murphy get his revenge and it was so satisfying to see Dick Jones be exposed and humiliated at the board meeting before his death
Yeah a good vest will easily stop shotgun blasts, but that many? The blunt force trauma would be like taking a baseball bat to the ribs and chest from Barry Bonds at his peak, 20+ times... a relatively slow death due to bruised organs and pulverized bone. The head shot is high to the right, it would be lights out but isn't guaranteed death. People have been saved with worse if you get trauma care fast enough. It would have missed the autonomic functions responsible for survival, but he'd probably need massive rehabilitation because of the brain damage... akin to a massive stroke. In the ER scene, based on what the Dr. says, it sounds like they couldn't stabilize him and he lost too much blood, but only just barely. If they put him on ice immediately, hypothetically there'd be viable living brain tissue preserved and massive reconstruction while on a heart/lung machine and a blood transfusion, with wet wired electronics added to restore lost functions/motor activity for the brain/machine interface. He's essentially a modernized Frankenstein monster who is sufficiently freshly dead so it's really just an exotic form of resuscitation mixed with digital amnesia and brainwashing putting him in a kind of obedient fuge state w/o self awareness, like hypnosis.
I'd be first in line at the theater if they released a sequel today and they guaranteed the same style and direction of this one. I'd be game for a different story but the satire, gore, and campiness would have to remain.
LOL!!! NO WAY! I remember seeing movies on TV and how you could clearly tell when a character's voice changed and sounded nothing like the actor because of dubbing. It's hilarious that they would go with "Thank Me". At least "Not Me" would make slightly more sense haha
@@Texy88 It was always just the language in movies that got censored for TV. I don't recall the violence and gore being censored in any movie. Emil's whole incident with the toxic waste was on TV.
There's TWO things to know when you watch a Paul Verhoven movie: It's going to be REAL bloody, and REAL satirical. Edit: Also, you just GOTTA love the 80s.... a decade where violent R rated movies could be turned into a children's cartoon for Saturday morning enjoyment.
I looked up his filmography and was pleased to see that I have some of his other films on my list. (Total Recall) and (Starship Troopers). I might have to expand that list though lol! I feel like I watched a few episodes of the cartoon as a kid. It's ringing some bells
Great reaction! It's a great movie! Robocop is my favorite childhood hero. And I also like the cool robot ED-209! I've always been amused by the moment when the ED-209 robot shoots itself in the arm, and then it has a short circuit from pain and shakes violently for a few seconds 46:00. And also the final scene with this robot at the end 56:58. Poor robot 🤖
It was so funny you said in the first scene, you didn't think it would be that gory...we'll that's all Robocop is about. Great special effects, practical the way movies should be made and aren't today.
I was so happy with how they kept elevating the gore! I was thinking, "Shit, how far are they gonna go?!" So badass and one I'm going to watch pretty frequently!
@@jessebatres6895 I wasn't allowed to watch this when it first came out, sure I was of age, but my aunt and uncle said no. The a few years later I saw it in the early 90's and loved it and understood why I couldn't see it then.
Fantastic reaction to a brilliant film Jesse. Great understanding again of Murphys personal story. Love everything about this film. Just screams 80s & its absolutely fantastic. Great job. 👌🏻👍🏻
Thank you so much James! If I had a son I feel like this is a film I'd have to watch with him and enjoy, but I'd have to tell keep it a secret from the wife haha! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction! :)
Man, I love how he was having so much fun with this character! I feel like I could watch a film with just him as the lead and we see him causing havoc!
Practical and stop motion is the best! Robocop is in my top 3 action films of all time Peter Weller from what i heard was extremely difficult to work with Anytime you see him driving he doesn't have the bottom part of the suit on it was impossible to fit in the vehicle. Kurtwood Smith met his wife filming this she's the secretary in purple when he puts his gum on her name plate, still happily married today The actor who plays Bob is cousins with George Clooney They filmed this in Dallas I believe Bitches leave is probably one of my favorite line deliveries 😂😂
Agreed! I like what they did with the Ed-209, there's some kind of charm about stop motion that is alluring to me. I'll have to look up some behind the scenes pics to see if there are any with him having the upper body suit and just some boxers underneath haha! Ah that's actually kind of sweet since that was the only time we saw him try and flirt with someone. Love it!! I knew so much of this looked familiar, and I've been to several of those locations. They did a great job with the dystopian atmosphere that it didn't quite register while watching it. I'm about 25 minutes from downtown Dallas. And yeah that "Bitches leave" line is hilarious! I wonder how much the actors must've burst out laughing while having table reads 😂
"Goodnight Sweet Prince" - Yes! It is from the finale of Hamlet - said by his good buddy Horatio as H lays dying. If you get to The Big Lebowski, the quote is used to hilarious effect there. Hamlet's final words are used here and there: ‘The rest is silence.’
17:35 "There's no way he still has vital signs!" You'd be surprised how durable the human body is, and how much attitude has to do with survival. He was wearing pretty heavy-duty body armor, which helped absorb some of the punishment to the body. 30:45 And the brain is ridiculously redundant in terms of memory storage. Fun fact: The emergency team working on his was an ACTUAL trauma team, and improvised the scene based on the director's summary of what was going on.
Great movie reaction!!👍 Robocop is such a hidden gem, great movie from the 80s,! I recommand watching next Robocop 2 from 1990 as well , its badass movie! it's a great sequal👍👍 I will also recommand Roadhouse from 1989 as well, such a great movie with Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliot👍👍 Cheers from Norway 🇳🇴
Murphy sorta survived all of those shots to the torso because he was wearing a bullet proof vest. It would hurt but not penetrate. While it is fair to insult a hairdo, you shouldn't be insulting hairlines. It is only recently that men are so ashamed of their hairline that they shave their heads to hide it.
I can completely understand why it would give you nightmares lol! It's like watching some ghoulish monster and the sounds he's making adds to the horror like element. Very gory and I loved every minute of it haha!
I just might have to sign a release so that they can turn me into RoboCop if I bite the dust any time soon lol! I'm probably not the best candidate to represent law and order though 😂
My boy’s gonna be handing out some serious hairline violation tickets on this one 😂 Film is a damn masterpiece! Please check Verhoeven’s other films. Even the bad ones are good! 😂 also I’m patiently waiting on that Psycho reaction.
If the crime boss bad guy here was threatening my life, he'd be confused as to why I'm only staring at his hairline the whole time and never breaking my eye contact with it lol!
The guy that played "Dick Jones", Ronny Cox, played some of the nastiest bad guys in movies - usually powerful corporate or political boss types - and TV for years and... Is reportedly one of the nicest actors in the business! Got his start in Deliverance as the guitar player. Originally a folk and bluegrass musician he was hired as an actor for the part and never looked back. What a nasty snarl he had. So easy to hate the bad guys he played during those years!
Something else so great about this film is that it actually had 2 great villains in Dick Jones and Clarence. Sure one is more in the trenches but Dick Jones has a hell of a presence any time he's on screen and I liked his smart ass attitude in some scenes as well.
@@jessebatres6895 "Bitches leave." Oh Clarence, lol. Kurtwood Smith, another gem of a great character actor. By the way if you like stylized gore, violence, and tight dialogue..."Dredd" from 2012 (not the Stallone one, Judge Dredd, but the Karl Urban one) is quite a masterpiece.
Even though this is a super-exciting action movie, its meaning is a very deep rabbit hole. The whole of OCP is the villain, not just Jones. The movie implies they basically run the world, not just the city, and are intentionally causing the problems in the news clips. Also that the old man CEO sabotaged the ED-209 demonstration to put Jones in his place, so basically just as bad, and Bob early on mentions rearranging police assignments so there'd be greater likelihood of getting a "volunteer" to become Robo. Murphy and Lewis are innocent victims of corporate politics who, despite the upbeat ending, have no way to escape.
Great analysis and insight! I can see that now looking back on it. And Jones also saying, "We basically are the military". Yeah I think there's a lot of truth with that statement and how they have a presence throughout many sectors and have a great deal of influence and power. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this!
No way! feel like if you saw this back then like we did as wee little shit asses you also would have luved the toys and cartoons at the time. Verhoeven was just making gems for us back then, using the gnarliest squibs and blood packs : D
It makes me want to get a RoboCop action figure! I'll be getting some film memorabilia soon and would love to get something that says "I'll buy that for a dollar!" haha! I looked up the director's filmography and there's two films of his on my list to watch. "Total Recall" and "Starship Troopers". I might have to expand that list :)
@@jessebatres6895 oh yeah, and now you lucky bastard the Robo figures are omega level sic. Robo and ED-209 designs blew my mind back then, still luv them and also another design from part 2. finishing the Verhoeven trilogy is a absolute must : )
Funny you mention the locker rooms in Carrie.. Nancy Allen in both films Cool someone seeing this for the first time, I saw this way too young, probably 6 in 1988 on HBO or something. have loved it ever since. The sequels you can skip.
It *is* possible to survive a shot to the head. There's at least one recorded case where the shooter was using a low-caliber bullet (a .32, I think) and it went around the skull (left a nice scar though). So the guy's brain was intact. There's another case where a woman shot her husband in the head while he was sleeping... and a few hours later, he woke up complaining of a headache. And, in this case, the technology was advanced enough to replace the damaged brain functions with computer chips. By the way, Robocop's gun is a modified Beretta R93 with aftermarket bits added on to make it look futuristic. The cops all use a blacked-out Ford Taurus. When you see Robocop getting out of the car, did you notice how the first shot is only from the waist up? That's because Peter Weller couldn't fit in the car while wearing the full suit. So when he was driving, he was only wearing the top half of the suit and his boxers. 🤣
I remember watching something where a guy shot his girlfriend after a fight, and she didn't know she was shot and drove to the hospital because of a massive headache. That's when the doctors revealed to her what the cause of the headache was. I don't even think she was bleeding much at all. So crazy to think about how that happens sometimes. I can only imagine all the laughter and jokes when he first had to do those kinds of scenes (suit an upper body and just boxers underneath) lol!
Actually you're the first :) And damn can you imagine how much the crew had to refrain from bursting out in applause and cheering when he finally caught the keys lol!
That toxic man....watch that squash scene in slow motion, it's amazing...actually you can pause the film at the instant he squashes everywhere - so cool.
It was so badass to see this frame by frame! That bastard deserved it, and it was hilarious to see that other bad guy run away from him in disgust lol!
All those emergency room dictors and nurses are real. They were off duty and we're hired to be in the movie since they know how to deal with real life emergencies like this... the director wanted reslism in that scene.
And a great choice for sure by the director! Obviously, Hollywood takes a lot of free liberty with some things but I think it's great any time they can incorporate real moments that are unexpected or improvised, or real professionals in a certain field that can show what it's really like in a situation like that.
Some thematically related movies 😉 - Maniac Cop (a cop returns from the dead to avenge his own death) and Hardcore Henry (a man rebuilt into a cyborg struggles to reclaim his identity)
@@jessebatres6895 I'm not married but if I were, I'm certain that any wife that I'd have would love the joke. I hope your wife has a good sense of humor for that one.
HECK YES!! I'll probably grab a few things this weekend and put them up. I'd love to find another lamp like the one that's currently up, but Christmas themed 😃🎄❄
I kind of like how he just has a regular cop car in this. They try to make it too much like Batman when they put him on like a super motorcycle in the remake 🙄🙄🙄 do they know that regular people ride motorcycles all the time, it’s not a superhero thing???
I watched this movie a few times when it was in theaters. Hardest part for me to watch was when Murphy was attacked. I still hate it. I’m always amused when they say, “Get the paramedic!”
Yeah it was intense to see how they completely massacred him. I don't know why, but I was feeling kind of emotional whenever that "rogue police force" was shooting him as well. It just made me so sad for Murphy, since on one end he was massacred by those scumbags and then he's going through it again as RoboCop. Yeah "Get the paramedic", was hilarious!!! As you can see, I lost my sh#t whenever Dick Jones said "I'm sure it's only a glitch" hahaha!
Dammit, have to add a second comment, here.... Jesse, you're too young to remember that Ronald Reagan (Ronny Ray-Gun as he was called back then) initiated a program called the "Space Defense Initiative", or "S.D.I.", which was commonly called "The Star Wars Platform" as a vernacular (slang) term. It never actually got made, but a shitload of money went into R&D on it. Speaking of.... there actually IS another movie that "kinda" touches on that subject... "Space Cowboys" with Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, James Cromwell, and more. It's a good movie, and I recommend it. 5:35 - Nancy Allen was one of the queens of Lower Budget movies. Her performance in this, and The Philidelphia Experiment are my personal favorites. 11:30 - Yes, you have. Boddiker is played by the same actor who played Red Forman in "That 70s Show". But also, Emil (the driver of the van) was also in another fantastic movie called "Fame" from 1980. Another one I highly recommend, and no other Reaction channel has done that movie yet. So... you could be ahead of the curve. ;)
Nice! I can only imagine how excited some people must've been when they heard that name for the program 😂 Also, you're the first I'll tell this to. Guess what I watched last night? The Clone Wars (Season 2 Episode 16 and Season 1 Episode 16)! SO GOOD! I'm going to watch it in chrnological order, and will be uploading the full reactions to Patreon first and then getting them uploaded to RUclips. Not sure if I'll upload every single one to RUclips, but I'll get try and get all the "highly ranked" episodes up on RUclips. Hell, all of them if I can but we'll see. Oh and on Nancy Allen! I was floored when I looked up her filmography and saw "Carrie", and was shocked that I didn't recognize her haha! So crazy that I rooted for her here. Great versatile actress!
@@jessebatres6895 Whatever you decide to upload to YT on Clone Wars, I'll be here for. I know there's a lot of "filler" episodes in that series, but even still, they are all good. But once you get beyond Clone Wars (although, you MUST upload all of season 7, since it's short and VERY relevant to everything)... you may as well upload The Bad Batch, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rebels in their entirety, since there are so few episodes by comparison. But take your time with it. Star Wars will help you grow, that much I know from seeing other channels do them.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip on season 7, I'll make sure to get all those episodes uploaded. It definitely looks like it's a powerhouse season based on some early research I've done. Oh and trust me the tv series are coming as well :) I'm leaning heavily on the Obi-Wan Kenobi series as being my first because I love the character so much, but I might put up a poll to have a vote on it. I think my next non-reaction video will be "Ranking Episodes 1-6". I have the ranking in my head already, but I wonder how much it might change once I actually start putting it together. I have my favorite one pretty set and stone, but my #2 favorite is so tough. There's 2 films that keep duking it out in my head and we'll see what it comes down to.
@@jessebatres6895 I think you meant to put this on my Star Wars reply, but that's okay. I get it. I get mixed up sometimes as well. BUT, since we're on the Robocop video.... I just remembered that there is yet ANOTHER movie from the 80s that is relevant to that whole "Star Wars" space platform.... "Real Genius". It's a comedy, and funny as Hell! But it also points out a few things that, well, MAY have happened (in some regard or another). But back to Star Wars.... I would recommend going in "chronological order" now that you've watched the original 6 movies. For now, you can skip "The Acolyte", as that one takes place 84 years before Episode I, and is only loosely connected to the Skywalker series. The full timeline (currently): The Acolyte, Episode I, Episode II, The Clone Wars, Episode III, The Bad Batch, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rebels, Rogue One, Episode IV, Episode V, Episode VI, The Mandalorian (seasons 1&2), The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian (season 3), Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew (coming next month), Episode VII, Episode VIII, Episode IX. Andor season 2 will release next year, as will Ahsoka season 2 (I think, maybe 2026). But you can keep going with Clone Wars, and only post the most relevant episodes on YT. Trust me, you'll know which ones they are. But yeah, the final few episodes of season 5, and all of season 7 are pretty much a "must". Some episodes of The Bad Batch are also good to post. You'll understand when you get to it (I don't post spoilers).
If you pay attention carefully this movie is perfectly balanced. One example Dick Jones says good business is where you find it an later Clrence says the exact same line.
Yeah that's one line I noticed they both said. When Clarence said it, I thought to myself, "Huh one of them definitely said it first around each other and the other decided to use it". I wonder who though.
I was wondering when Clarence shoots Murphy in the head and says "hey bonzo" or something like that... I wonder if they are making fun of Buckaroo Bonzai in the 8th dimension with Peter Weller.
Highly recommend you react to Big Trouble in Little China, and Highlander the Theatrical cut [ most people prefer the directors cut but there are a couple aided scenes that detract from the film] a Dark City the directors cut, this version fill in several senes that when cut out makes the movie a bit confusing.
Pretty damn good!! I had to replay that one kill with the guy who was covered in toxic waste multiple times. Crazy how he was just obliterated when the car hit him. I'm looking forward to that one. First, I'll check out Total Recall and then Starship Troopers :)
"Star Wars" was the insulting nickname the media and others gave to Reagan's "Strategic Defense Initiative" program. The program was a range of space and ground based detection systems for Soviet missile launches, and space, air, and ground based means of shooting them down. Concept art and such were released, most of which was practical looking, and some actual tests were run for laser and "brilliant pebble" space based interceptors. The Soviets believed it and began spending a fortune they didn't have to counter it. This one of the things that hastened their collapse. Thing is that most of it wasn't real. It was almost all propaganda showing systems that could work, eventually when the technology was available, but were plausible enough to actually work and maybe even be operational in the 80s. Some parts of it were real, like the observation satellites and such, but the interceptors not so much. However, the Patriot and THAAD missiles that can intercept some ballistic missiles also came from the program. When this movie came out, artificial hearts were a new thing, very advanced technology for the time. However, they were often operated by compressed air working the valves, so the patient had to stay hooked up to machines all the time. They were also kind of noisy and definitely looked uncomfortable, including the tubes running from the chest to machines. So versions that didn't need all that like in the movie would have seemed great. The big rifle was a Barret 50. This was a .50 caliber sniper/anti-material rifle. It does have a hefty recoil but can be fired from the hip, just not at all accurately. The explosions were also wildly optimistic for what it would do, even if they made HE rounds for it.
I prefer this version over the 2014 remake. I don't think your wife would like for you to be checking the ladies in the movie out. JS. Yes, you have seen the actor that plays the bad guy. It's Kurtwood Smith, he played Red Farmer in, That 70's show.
Dude, your channel is great but you don't have to talk too much, it's not necessary, don't waste your first viewing of the films, (and please stay a little during the end credits, it's part of the films..) your channel is great
Thanks for the feedback Miles! I've gotten better about the commentary, I actually have the volume on pretty high on my headphones which allows me to hear everything, even when I burst out laughing and look away for a bit. Always room for improvement though and appreciate the feedback! :)
He's got a bullet resistant vest on. Him being alive is 100% realistic. When President Kennedy was shot he still had a heartbeat and was breathing but his wounds were too severe for him to live. The human body is very resilient.
Right. The vest would stop most of the shot hitting it, but it would hurt pretty badly. Shots to the arms and legs would be bad though. There have been cases of shots to the head where people survived. There is also Phineas Gage who had a a large tamping iron blown clear through his head and he survived, and that happened in 1848.
Yeah it truly is amazing what we can withstand and how it can differ person to person as well. I've heard some insane stuff about people being shot in the head or having a metal rod go through their head and they are still able to drive themselves to the hospital and make a full recovery.
Nice! I added that one recently to my list. I think I'll check it out within the next few weeks. Others have brought it up and said it's super suspenseful!
classic, with a shockingly weak remake; typical of today's Hollywood . Paul Verhoeven really has a passion for violent, gory scenes (and nudes!), but they are never meaningless. applies here, applies in Total Recall, applies in Starship Troopers too!
heh, you think your community is nice, the reactors i usually go to, it's a bunch trying to traumatise the reactor till they're in an asylum... i've been trying to get some to do 'leolo'. imagine red foreman acting like that, the foot up the ass threats would be a little more scary.
I think the women in the locker room with men means- they don’t have the funding for two whole locker rooms and have to share. It’s not the WOKE future or anything 😅
If I worked for the department, I would demand shared locker rooms even if there was enough funding for separate locker rooms. I'd make sure my locker was next to the group of female cops as well 😂
You'd be wrong about that. Verhoeven is an extremely liberal minded dude who envisioned a future where gender wasn't such a big deal. He repeats it in Starship Troopers too.
The director of Robocop and the writers sure meant it to be funny. Not exactly a comedy, but a movie with a lot of satire and black humor. Maybe you just missed it?
I know right! I wish it would've been something like Robocop stabbing him through the chest with dynamite, followed by an awesome one liner. Than Boddicker just yells out and explodes lol!
Hey everyone, thank you so much for watching! Please consider subscribing to the channel. What do you think about the RoboCop sequels? Are they worth exploring?
That was a thoughtful and sweet intro. I watch multiple reaction channels. I really enjoy your reactions. Thank you
The first one is a masterpiece, the second one is enjoyable, but the third one is laughable.
Robocop 2 is fun and keeps the campy/satirical tone. 3 should be avoided with the remake.
Murphy did have his Kevlar vest on when he was shot, hence why he didn't die straight away.
Kurtwood Smith was simply brilliant as the villain! Clarence Boddicker is one of his best roles!
Robocop is a great movie. I am glad so many reactors watch the unrated version. For years they censored the hell out of this movie. I didn’t see the true version until I got to college
So true
This reaction was incredibly on point for this classic, subbed and looking forward to more from you 😊
Emil the gas station guy, did not recognized murphy by his lower face,
you did not pay attention to the dialog,
in the abandoned factory Murphy said, dead or alive you are coming with me, and then again at the gas station...
Red Forman makes a great bad guy.
He made a meal out of that role!
Amazing in the role for sure! It's funny because if you saw him just sitting down somewhere, you'd think he's some harmless pushover but he played one hell of a good villain!
Welcome back to another good old timeless 80's action movie!! 👍🏼
It was so good and gave me more than I thought I wanted! Loved it!
Paul Verhoeven slaps you in the face with spectacle (gore, girls, gunfire) to hide his satire.
Robocop is an indictment of police/military brutality and the dehumanization of those jobs.
Also, there is a great visual joke in the lab raid scene - Murphy doesn't hit Clarence (a man with glasses 🤓), he hits multiple glasses with a man 😅
Expect more of the 3gs in Total Recall and Starship Troopers, Verhoeven's sci-fi satire trio.

"I'd buy that for a dollar!"
Fun Fact: Theatrical movie debut of Darryl Cox, Joan Pirkle, Donna Keegan, and Spencer Prokop.
"Dead or alive, you're coming from me." That's how he knew it was Murphy. Hid body armor reduced the damage.
They intentionally aimed for his body armor to torture him
Evil bastards lol!
Masterpiece. No robot science fiction film has touched it since. The music is outstanding. The satire. The direction
I'd be first in line at the theater if they released a sequel today and they guaranteed the same style and direction of this one. I'd be game for a different story but the satire, gore, and campiness would have to remain.
When this movie came on TV in the 80s, I'll never forget the robber in the convenience store saying "thank me, thank me."
LOL!!! NO WAY! I remember seeing movies on TV and how you could clearly tell when a character's voice changed and sounded nothing like the actor because of dubbing. It's hilarious that they would go with "Thank Me". At least "Not Me" would make slightly more sense haha
I still have that version on VHS, funny azfuk!!
Actually, he said why me, in the TV version.
...or the classics like "You're gonna be a bad mothercrusher!"
Lol! Toxic Avenger getting a cartoon has to be the wildest 🙃
And even raunchy comedies like Police Academy got cartoons😅

I feel like I watched a few episodes of the cartoon as a kid. It's ringing some bells
Great reaction! It's a great movie! Robocop is my favorite childhood hero. And I also like the cool robot ED-209! I've always been amused by the moment when the ED-209 robot shoots itself in the arm, and then it has a short circuit from pain and shakes violently for a few seconds 46:00. And also the final scene with this robot at the end 56:58. Poor robot 🤖
Did you notice that Murphy's partner, Lewis, is the main bully, Chris, who poured the pig's blood over Carrie in 'Carrie'?
It was so funny you said in the first scene, you didn't think it would be that gory...we'll that's all Robocop is about. Great special effects, practical the way movies should be made and aren't today.
I was so happy with how they kept elevating the gore! I was thinking, "Shit, how far are they gonna go?!" So badass and one I'm going to watch pretty frequently!
@@jessebatres6895 I wasn't allowed to watch this when it first came out, sure I was of age, but my aunt and uncle said no. The a few years later I saw it in the early 90's and loved it and understood why I couldn't see it then.

Peter Weller from what i heard was extremely difficult to work with

Kurtwood Smith met his wife filming this she's the secretary in purple when he puts his gum on her name plate, still happily married today
The actor who plays Bob is cousins with George Clooney

Bitches leave is probably one of my favorite line deliveries 😂😂

I'll have to look up some behind the scenes pics to see if there are any with him having the upper body suit and just some boxers underneath haha!
Ah that's actually kind of sweet since that was the only time we saw him try and flirt with someone. Love it!!

Great channel Jesse. Keep up your genuine nature. I'll keep watching.

I remember watching this as a kid, man! That toxic waste scene gave me nightmares! Movie is cheesy but I love the gore, it's almost comical. 😂
I can completely understand why it would give you nightmares lol! It's like watching some ghoulish monster and the sounds he's making adds to the horror like element. Very gory and I loved every minute of it haha!
Masterpiece of a movie.

Really enjoyed watching your reaction to my favorite movie. You should do a reaction for Robocop 2. It’s a fun watch as well.
38:29 what do you think happened to Bob Morton’ stiff?
Never since the 80’s and early 90’s were 8 yr old kids allowed to watch movies like this. I swear older millennials are all BPD now because of this!

Nice! One I'll have to check out for sure. I saw it's available for purchase on Prime.
A great action movie with some profound, tragic themes in it.
Great movie for sure.
After you watch these Robo-cop movies you should watch the remake... it's actually pretty good
Somebody may have brought this up already, but it took hundreds of takes for him to be able to catch those keys

@@jessebatres6895 I can't remember how many times I've watched it in slow mo.
Ends just like the stories of the character he was moddled after- Judge Dredd.
Just another day in Detroit...

It's cool you mention that because I immediately forgot about the car. RoboCop is so badass and imposing that your eyes stay locked on him.
SO GOOD!

The Acolyte, Episode I, Episode II, The Clone Wars, Episode III, The Bad Batch, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Rebels, Rogue One, Episode IV, Episode V, Episode VI, The Mandalorian (seasons 1&2), The Book of Boba Fett, The Mandalorian (season 3), Ahsoka, Skeleton Crew (coming next month), Episode VII, Episode VIII, Episode IX.
Rambo franchise... please.
Thank's!!
Old Detroit was played by Dallas Texas.
Yes mate. Glad yoe enjoyed this one, still think Starship troopers is my favourite of his films.
Pretty damn good!! I had to replay that one kill with the guy who was covered in toxic waste multiple times. Crazy how he was just obliterated when the car hit him.
I'm looking forward to that one. First, I'll check out Total Recall and then Starship Troopers :)
@jessebatres6895 he turns into the hunchback of Notre Dame 😆
8:30 my favorite scene of the movie 😳😳😳🤨🤨😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣
185th like!
Thank you so much Zoe!! :)
Please React to part 2 and 3, totally worth it !!
Star wars was something Ronald Reagan was pushing for. Something to blast nukes out of the sky, IIRC.
Sounds badass lol! I bet a lot of people got excited when they heard the name of that program
Not sure if you take requests bruh. But check out a movie called "The Hitcher." 1986 I guarantee this movie will do a number on your head...ha ha
Nice! I added that one recently to my list. I think I'll check it out within the next few weeks. Others have brought it up and said it's super suspenseful!
Try robocop 2
Will definitely be checking out part 2! :)
classic, with a shockingly weak remake; typical of today's Hollywood .
Take this good advice.
When you WATCH a sci-fi cult film - don't laugh all the time because you look like an idiot.
It's NOT a COMEDY.
The director of Robocop and the writers sure meant it to be funny. Not exactly a comedy, but a movie with a lot of satire and black humor. Maybe you just missed it?
I reject the advice 😄😂😹
Boddicker's death was always unsatisfying for me. I wish they would have made his just as over the top.
I know right! I wish it would've been something like Robocop stabbing him through the chest with dynamite, followed by an awesome one liner. Than Boddicker just yells out and explodes lol!
