Summary of some of the armored vehicles acquired by the Chinese PLA in the 1940s:(Related photos are among the community on my channel.) 1.T-26B, for the 1938 Soviet aid to China, there are 82 of the 1933 model and no less than 16 of the 1937 model, of which the 1937 model is characterized by two searchlights above the gun shield of the main gun. Equipped with the 200th Division of the Kuomintang(KMT), 53 T-26Bs remained after the war, some of which were captured by the PLA during the Huaihai Campaign. As shown in Figure 1 (note the headlights on the roof) 2. M5A1/M3A1/A3: M3A1/A3 for the first battalion of the Garrison's combat vehicles, 48, M5A1 for 1948 Chiang Weiguo purchased from the United States for the war of liberation of the Kuomintang armored forces main combat vehicles. Throughout the liberation war kmt's Stuarts numbered around 120-200. kmt relied on the M3/M5 to establish the first fast column had posed a great threat to the PLA, but in the Battle of Lunan the whole army was wiped out, and the PLA captured as many as 23 M3/M5s (Figure 2 for M3A3, Figure 3 for M5A1). 3. M4A2: Contrary to popular belief, the number of Shermans in China during the War of Resistance/Liberation was very small, and the Shermans of the Chinese Expeditionary Forces(Fighting in Burma) were surrendered to the Allies after the war, so there were almost no M4s in the Kuomintang army during the War of Liberation, but after the war, Company B of the First Battalion of the First U.S. Marine Division's Armor Battalion had been stationed in Tianjin and the Battalion had seven battle-scarred M4As2s that were used to escort logistical convoys. After the First Marine Division withdrew from China, the M4 was not taken away. Next there are two versions: one is that the M4 stayed in Tianjin for a long time, and was captured by the East Field, and the other is that it was taken away by Chiang Weiguo(Son of Chiang Kai-shek) and put in a warehouse in Xuzhou, and then captured by PLA. However, the 75mm guns on some of the vehicles had already disappeared by the time of capture, so the PLA mounted machine guns into the turrets, forming the "machine gun M4". Figures 4 and 5 show that at least four M4A2s were captured.
@@steffenrosmus9177 this used to be the case, but now the Chinese are creating their own tanks, albeit based on Soviet ones, but they turned out even better than the original.
Watching Chinese news reports, there is now a massive replacement of new tanks in the army such as 96, 99, 15 type. There are also a lot of troops switching to wheeled combat vehicles. 59 is rarely in the news anymore.
@@cucumberhistory274 yeaah i also heard that now Chinese army focusing on replace their old tank with the new tanks such as Type 99 and Type 15. But there is also news that said Chinese had also try in experiment to modified their old tanks (such as Type-59) into unmanned tanks.
The Chinese PLA has a much higher level of secrecy than Western militaries, and I haven't heard any information about Type 59 unmanned tanks. Personally, I would surmise that it wouldn't make much sense to do so, as China has developed many types of small unmanned combat vehicles, such as the UV-T10, so you could try searching for it and see. I think the cost of modifying the 59 is probably more than the cost of producing a new smaller vehicle, which is a bit of a lost cause.@@benayayamin657
The story I heard was that the Sherman tanks were equipment left behind in Tianjin by the U.S. Marines, and that the U.S. troops dismantled or destroyed the 75mm gun when they left. The PLA got the vehicle and modified the machine gun.
I don't think so. The reason for so many improvements on the 59 may simply be that the 59 is very productive (10,000+) and upgrading the 59 was actually the more economical option before. Personally, I feel that China's economic takeoff has enough military money to change to new equipment, and only after 2010, I think.@@khanhgiapham-mi4hg
The PLA's 8-1 insignia officially appeared on June 15, 1949. The T-26 and Japan 97 in the video are 1949 National Day painted. The M5A1 is the vehicle that appeared in the documentary on the outskirts of Shanghai, and the M4 Sherman has a photo showing its paint. All of these tanks have the 8-1 insignia in the photos or the documentary, and I'm drawing them with reference to those.
These tanks formerly owned by KMT that procured US & German WW2 tanks and obtained Japanese tanks after Imperial Japanese Army surrendered. PLA possessed all KMT tanks on mainland after KMT lost the civil war and had them painted to PLA camouflage and markings.

These are some very nice artworks here!
I love how they went from literally renaming soviet tanks to making hybird soviet/german tanks
Well, 100 years ago China was very much a medieval society and endured almost 200 years of chaos. Pretty impressive. Wait for it.
Nice Video again but where's the MBT-2000 and VT-4??
The VT series are foreign trade tanks exported by China and not equipped by the PLA, so I didn't draw them in this video.
@@cucumberhistory274 Ohh i see, the series was made by Norinco a Chinese Military Factory, making Tanks and other equipment for Exporting it to other.
根據歷史紀錄片,美國製M5A1坦克曾經在上海戰役當中為解放軍所用,其車身正面被畫上一個大大的八一紅星,我也根據此,用田宮1/35比例的M5A1模型,造了一輛解放軍的M5A1

Type-55 was Chinese-produced version of the Soviet T-54A tank.
But why would they replace the 75mm for a mg? The sherman has like 3 of those on board (3 mgs)
